They are revived through one mechanism or another, but usually only powerful magic. Bigby and Frau Totenkinder, for instance, have both died numerous times in the stories that preceded the comics. The deaths from the fairy tales are generally canon. But Bigby is practically a god, and Totenkinder approaches the power of the gods of the several worlds.
Many of the more popular fables are incredibly hard to kill, but death generally keeps once it is assured, unless there is powerful magic involved.
Yeah, something like that. Plus Bigby was fated to die at least seven times before the last of his children would pass away. I don't know how many of those he has spent.

I thought totenkinder can auto-rebirth is because there're so many evil witch dead in so many stories haha :-S
