Should Jane had been Molly?

I love Jane but does anybody else think that Jane should have been the return of Molly and not an original character? Also why develop Jane as a character if you were just gonna abandon her like you did with Molly.

I got so clingy to Molly and Jane now two of my favorite characters are gone.

Molly, Jane, Carley

always the best characters but keeps annoying characters like Kenny.

Effectively, she was a Molly-esque character. She was a hard-ass with "everybody for themselves" attitude, but she did have a better side to her, which we didn't see much at the beginning, but rather later on. She had a younger sister, too, and both her and Molly's sisters are presumed dead. Then both she and Molly leave their respective groups in Episode 4.

The last point is really stretching it, but both Jane and Molly had sex with men who had "L" in their names (Luke and Walter).

  • Kenny can't die, he's Jesus remember..

Anyway, I was disappointed too, but you know telltale, can't have too many female characters running around and all that.

  • I still think Jane might return. I think Clem will be imprisoned by the Russian group and Jane will come to try to save her.

  • That's what I noticed too, I feel like this should have been Molly.

  • Making Clementine find 2 of her lost friends in 1 week would feel like bad writing to me.

  • None taken. I like her but I don't like how she left right before the group took the blame for what she did to Arvo (determinant).

  • that's the only part of this episode I didn't like. why make her into the same type of character molly was and leaving. kinda sucked that she left. idk who I liked better her or molly

  • If she comes back, she's going to get an ass whoopin. u in danger the group like that and just take off with no apology? yo ass can stay gone.

  • Better yet, she comes back, she's dead.

  • i hope she returns somehow too! i really liked her. she was like the one person that treated clem with honesty and even more important with respect. she talked to her like you talk to a equal person. she didn't treat her like a friggin little kid like some of the others do. ok maybe mike (after she kills the walker in the museum) had some respect for her too but that was just because of one situation, all in all they treated her like a kid but overall she behaved more mature than most of the adults do. just my opinion. so ye... i was sad when jane left tho i always had a feeling that she's not gonna stay long and when she said "how did i get into this shit" i just KNEW she was about to leave in a bit. Plx let her return :D

  • Jane was basically Molly in all but name, right down to the sister backstory and leaving the group at the end of Episode 4.

  • Molly's story was done, they left her fate in a good place. I dont want her to come back and be 'not as cool' or something like that. I Jane should have been a little less like Molly though.

  • I think you mean "Logan", as to who Molly had sex with. Unless there's some other guy named "Walter" I don't know about in Crawford, or if the doctor was named "Walter Logan" and I just didn't know. This also adds a little more weight to your "L in the names" point. :P

Jane was really like Molly. But alot more experienced and less good-hearted.
But like someone mentioned, finding both Kenny AND Molly might've been too much for one week.

Has to raise the question though. This Russian Group. Think any of them speak solely English? Christa I miss you so much.

  • Anyone else good for a Molly and Jane Co-op game? That'll be toadaly rad.

  • His name was Walter Ashe, as stated on his badge. He could also be Logan, for all we know, but my point wouldn't change if either of those were true.

  • Then that was a weird and ultimately pointless addition since he only ever identifies as Logan and the game only refers to him as Logan. But fair enough now that I've looked it up and seen that little tidbit.

I liked Jane a lot more than Molly who's basically my least liked character in the series. The big reason for that is unlike Jane, you never really saw Molly get her hands unclean or doing any actual survivalist stuff that makes her seem like a survivalist loner type character. She only helps and is just generally awesome with it seeming like the writers only writing her as "awesome" and giving her a standard sob story to get her to show a moment of weakness.

Jane on the other hand encourages you to make decisions that show just how heartless a person needs to be to make choices like the ones she encourages you to do. She's shown to have some regrets making them, but she makes it clear she'd make them again. She also had some good dialogue with Rebecca and others that show other flaws she has. That's not to mention her backstory's much better. With Molly, everyone's basically had some version of the same story where they've failed to save their sibling/friend/etc. With Jane, there just wasn't anything she could do to save her sister because her sister decided she had given up which is much more tragic to me.

Actually, you know what? He is Dr. Logan, I guess it was Nick Herman's decision (who was the director for Episode 4) to add some reference to his girlfriend, Erin Ashe (or Yvette).

So, your addition wasn't pointless, really.

Same here. Molly and Jane have 2 borderline characteristics in common: Both lost sisters and both were loners.
The circumstances in which both lost sisters are completely different, the way they survive alone are completely different, their approach to people and reason to leave are completely different.

Molly is DONE, she will never come back, either by her goal and philosophy, she will not cross paths again. Jane got cold feet, and can rethink her position on being around people. She thought that being close to Luke would bring doom to someone. And not without reason. Jane is way more cool and more badass than Molly.

If you didn't notice this I'll tell you know...
...If you do the right choices you can leave everyone in S2 and follow Jane back to the Howe's Hardware where you'll meet a group that's probably relatives or a family (Randy, Patricia and a kid named Gill). You'll get to choose if you want to share supplies with them or if you should reject them. THE END! This will also leed to that you kill Kenny but I saw it as worth doing it cause I liked Jane alot as a character so that was obvious for me and second Kenny had been through so much that he was completley mad. He deserved the final rest according to me.

  • I never cared much for Molly but I love Jane so...I´m glad it was this way.

  • You get so bent out of shape about there being less female characters in the sum of all Telltale games, yet you were the same person that noticed that the Season 2 group at one point had more women than men. Honestly, this isn't a conspiracy about male supremacy, and there are no allusions to male supremacy being made, they're all just characters in a Telltale game. Sometimes more are male, sometimes more are female.

  • Molly S3 Protag.

  • -squints judgmentally @ all the molly hate in this thread-

Why was this thread resurrected from like five months ago when this one is still around?

  • She resembles Molly's character but is far different to be a replica or close to it. I don't think Jane should've been replaced by Molly because she is a little too different I'd say, she would try to save Sarah I bet which is something Jane needed convincing in order to do so. I did like that scenario in Episode 3 that had the group use both Molly's and Jane's motives of escaping, using Molly's technique of luring Walkers using sound and using Jane's technique of covering everyone in gore and sneaking through the Walker horde.

  • yeah but basically her(jane)'s character had been like omidd mode, u know .. suddenly throw her away.... make her a bad person to others i think... but for me i still choose her and i dont see her as a totally a bad person not at all... she might been do a bad things mistakes... she aint perfect at all ... [ wait what the hell am i saying??! lel i got far ] but she should have been a good person not a sudden evil manipulator thing..

  • No, I like Molly but there would have been no way she'd have ended up at Carver's base.

Plus, I didn't want her character ruined by S2's shifty, shallow, love-or-hate writing.

  • I always saw jane as a molly knock-off, but I liked both of them

  • They should've brought Molly back, too bad she was only a one episode character
