Playing Dead - "Why'd They Have To Die?" S2 Ep4 - SPOILERS VIDEO

edited August 2014 in The Walking Dead

So here's the playing dead of this weekend.

My thoughts:

I wasn't expecting a video like talking about what will be happening in Ep.5, but if they gave us like a cliffhanger that would completely ruin the future experience.Like Lilly coming back or Christa or maybe the guys that attacked initially clem and Christa.Don't know, but we can predict.

I liked the playing video, it has interesting conclusions about things that happened in Ep.4 and the question about we all need to know: What's the difference between S1 to S2?Because S1 had an objective that we all know but many people think that S2 you play with Clem and has no objective. But it has, Clem and Christa initially were going to Wellington, like Kenny wanted to go when you meet him again. The objective is to find a good place to stay.

I can't say it now because i need Ep.5 to finish the Season 2 and then think about S2 morals.

Right now, S2 have all the morals things, some old and some new.
I think S2 at the moment it's about Family, on how, when, who to choose someone to be with. Also it's about difficult choices that would alter the course of "your Clem" and surronding people thoughts.
Other thing I want to focus is that in this season, no matter what, you can't always safe everyone, in the end it's up to you and just simply you.
This season puts our humanity in tension because of the choices about saving people.<-----This is for those people that want to save everyone or give them a second chance, but in the end, you are all by yourself and al least you tried to save someone.
Don't be mad about a character dying , a death gives motivation to the living people.Btw you tried to save them, that's being human.Helping each others.
There's the example of Kenny. After all the things that happened to him,Lee and Clem(with Lee thoughts too), they helped him no matter what and they pushed him up to continue living and fight for those who cares about you. He's from family and a friend.

So what are your thoughts about the playing dead video and what to expect Ep.5?

P.S.:I have a great theory about Christa,Lilly(a little bit) ,the people that attacked Christa and Clem and also the people that died by the river when you see Victor on the ground.Maybe tomorrow I'll post it.

  • So what's the deal with this Greg Miller? Guy seems like a troll, deliberately promoting pedophilia and hating on Sarah for being nice. Who on earth chose THIS guy to be the host of the show?

He's like the kind of guy you'd want to see eaten alive in a zombie movie.

  • The entire point of Season One was to be nice and help people. If it wasn't, your first option would be to chuck Clementine out of her treehouse and raid her home for goodies.

  • Put it this way: the premise is that the whole world is already full of shitty people. Would you rather give in to your misanthropic urges, or try to be something better?

Well. It was to be nice and help the people you care about. Who you want to care about and how you care about them is kinda left up to the player. If the player didn't really care that much about Sarah and felt that staying to help her would put characters he/she did care about at risk, then that would still be in line with a lot of Season 1. Not every player is an absolute altruist. Some just want to take care of them and theirs.

You don't need to be an "absolute altruist" to find something wrong about being gleeful when vulnerable child characters die. When you take joy in people dying, then arguments about 'pragmatism' fly out the window.

I guess this is why some people here hate Greg so much. That, and the pedophilia thing.

  • Oh totally. I wasn't defending Greg's dickishness in reveling in Sarah's death. I was just pointing out that Season 1 wasn't all about being a saint and caring about everybody, like emmuh28 suggested. A lot of it was actually about how much of a monster you're willing to become to take care of those who matter the most to you.

Yeah, I don't care for the guy, either. He's a Larry, except not as useful. I don't exactly understand what was so glamorous about leaving Sarah behind, but I guess it's not my place to judge (but if this was in real life, I'd be judging the shit out of Greg Miller for letting a little girl die.)

I guess it depends on your view about how much humans owe to each other. Do you think you are morally obligated to put your own life and possibly the life of another at risk in order to try to save someone else? Because that was the situation back there.

Every second you stay to help Sarah was another second you risked the walkers busting through the door and devouring Clem. And you see at the end that Jane waits for Clem to go up to the skylight first, so staying back puts Jane's life at risk as well. All of this for the chance to try to get through to Sarah, who doesn't really contribute anything as a survivor and may never do so.

So it's not as cut-and-dry an issue as choosing between "save this person" and "don't save this person." There are morally significant considerations on both sides of the equation.

  • That's right.I didn't go with the thought like: Oh Lee(my Lee) saved Ben so now i need to save sarah too.
I didn't think about that, I'm person that never let someone behind. At episode 1 i didn't like Sarah but after the few episodes I started to like her.I know she's a little girl who didn't fit this new world.
In my opinion, she had some disease because Carlos said to Clem that Sarah would cease to function if she knew how the world was.
I think that nobody thought about that.

  • Man, if you remember his story, about the people he lost and never had the chance to say goodbye.
I understand why he didn't protect Clem that's because his brain stop for a moment and thought that he needs to live.
He didn't want to leave Clem but he was in danger too.He couldn't even protect him self, so how could he tried to protect Clem but neither him knows how to deal with zombies?

  • I liked Sarah because she was the only person who helped you without any strings attached. Carlos demanded you be locked up, Rebecca wanted you dead and forced her husband to comply, Nick shot at you, and Luke and Pete went along with the group. Being 'socially awkward' is a small price to pay for being the only person in the entire episode who actually helps you no matter what.

Uggggghhhhhh even this episode is all about Greg's feeling about a character he hates! Nobody cares Greg!!
