If *****'s can **** what does it mean for TTG's TWD universe? (COMIC SPOILERS)

edited August 2014 in The Walking Dead

In issue 130 of the walking dead we see a character say the walkers were whispering. On the cover of the next issue of TWD set to release we see Jesus and the title "FROM WHISPERS TO SCREAMS" and he looks shocked at the walker he was about to kill. The question is if walkers can now talk how will this effect TTG's universe since their part of the same? I dont like the idea but in some way im intrigued.

What will happen if we didnt shoot Lee? Bigger question is will Lee come back looking for Clem? O.o

Honestly I think kirkman has just stuck his foot in and spoiled the soup.

if that's true things are gonna get really weird not in a good way either.

In my opinion it's just another shitty cliffhanger by Kirkman. As much as I like reading comics, cliffhangers got really, really shitty lately. People are gonna be freaking out that zombies can talk when in fact either Marco was hearing things or someone was travelling in the herd covered in the walker guts. Kirkman just runs out of ideas how to do interesting cliffhanger and we get something like this. There is simply no way they would do that after all this time.

I heard about this earlier and my reaction was HOLY SHIT!!!!! Now I think It's either people talking but we can't see where they are or The Walkers are.evolving....

  • Ehh, I just think it's random survivors that were sneaking through the herd, or Marco is hearing stuff and thaaaangs.

  • I don't like the idea , fuck the idea!

  • It's somewhat interesting if they whispered in a herd like fashion (like they all repeat one word). Or if zombies start learning from humans and getting smarter. Such as climbing ladders, thinking in groups, and using advantages to help them hunt down humans.

  • Fuck Wall Street! (And I don't like the idea either, this is TWD universe not that Zombie Love movie "Warm Bodies")

If that's really a walker he's looking down on (which I highly doubt it) then that walker is holding its shoulder. Like if it feels pain. Interesting...

But I don't think its the walkers whispering. I think its either the guy going nuts or someone hiding in the herd. I could be wrong though.

  • Thanks :) ( and NEVER EVER mention the name Larry to me...)

  • i'm commented here once but i had one more thing to say on topic.

if they do talk wouldn't that contradict what Rick told Hershel back on the farm?

  • You know, the walkers' intelligence levels have always been kind of not important. I mean, they sometimes do logical-ish things, such as picking up a rock to break glass (I THINK that's happened in the comics, but don't quote me on that) and they sometimes are shown to remember something about their lives (the little girl zombie in the start of the TV series picking up her teddy bear).

  • saltlick123 will remember that

From the wiki .Just then, an extremely distraught and disturbed Marco wakes up, explaining how he had to leave Ken behind and begs the group to send men out to get him. He then exclaims, "there were whispers and I was afraid". In the end, making the assumption that what he heard was actually the zombies, he reveals that the zombies have learned to communicate

  • The zombies DO need to change in order to become a greater threat now that the survivors have hardened. If it means becoming more intelligent and 'human', so be it.

  • None of that happened in the comics but yes they sometimes do inteligant things

  • If walkers can in fact talk, then that would be the somehow best thing to happen in twd history.because talking zombies sounds kinda weird and I like weird obviously.

  • Season 3 Time Skip to Talking Walkers? (I don't want another immediate long time skip but It would be interesting to see Clem encounter Talking Walkers....)

  • Could be because the world in twd was only infected for 2 years right? and the last of us 20 years

  • Maybe so,but the Game is now 2 years in , and the comics are 3 or 4 years in I think....

  • Then in one of the responses that Kirkman made in one of the fan letters, one in which he stated that aliens will invade might become true after all....I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this plays out, but I wouldn't hold my breath. If you ask me, since Ezekiel made his appearance things have taken a turn for the worst.

  • I'm not entirely convinced yet, I think the dude was just crazy. If walkers can actually talk though, that'd be pretty interesting.

  • Ethier the dude is nuts or it is some person leading the walkers. No way they are going to have the walkers talking.

Assuming it's legit and not Kirkman trolling, basically this calls into question every single walker that every single character has ever put down, as they're all kind of "murder" now. Haven't read the comics, but in the show they addressed this a few times: 1) First was in the first episode, where Morgan (the first man who saves Rick) can't put down his walker-wife, and she keeps coming back to the house her husband and her son are staying at with a supposedly blank/curious expression on her face, suggesting she recognizes them. We learn much later that she eventually got in and attacked her son, causing him to turn, and breaking poor Morgan. Only then is Morgan able to put her down. 2) Another instance from the show was when Hershel kept his barn full'o'walkers, thinking they were just sick, and when there'd be a cure, they would be human again. But this belief was shot down when his walker-wife viciously attacked one of his daughters. 3) Michonne also sometimes talked to her walker-boyfriend, but she knew he was dead, and did this for her own comfort. I don't believe this concept is addressed anymore in the show; everyone just assumes once you die, you'll turn, and that's that.

In the game, Kenny would be broken up all over again about Duck being shot, thinking Duck and Katjaa would still be living. [Kenny even sorta suggested it remember? "Kat, what if he doesn't turn?"] :( And idk if he or anyone ever actually put down Sarita...?

Finally, Clem's killed tons of unnamed zombies, and who knows who they were. If they were able to talk and possibly be human though, that's a high body count, and a lot of guilt. :( She had to put down Nick, and Luke might not be so happy knowing that Nick could possibly talk. Sarah could possibly come back as a walker as no one actually got her in the head, and that would be pretty traumatizing if walker-Sarah blamed Clem for her death...Then there's also Rebecca, who she might not've put down, but who's the only one of their group to turn right in front of them. Imagine walker-Rebecca wanting to speak to her baby. o.o And of course there's her walker-parents [maybe she'd want to find them and talk to them? :( ] and of course Lee, who I think she'd have a hard time getting over if she shot him. She might think she essentially murdered him. :( Man, not a happy situation is it?

  • Even if they could, they still want to eat you alive no difference.

  • edited August 2014

Well if they're supposedly "learning" to speak, who's to say they might not be remembering who they were and fighting tendencies to eat you? Not to mention, the character from Issue 133 said, "There were whispers and I was afraid." And then the title of Issue 134 is "From whispers to screams," suggesting some sort of progression.

Yeah, and I just remembered Kirkman saying "its about to get a whole lot more interesting past issue 130"can't remember where I heard that though.... :C

  • If this is true, then it's just gonna make it worse, if the corpse of your loved one was talking to you, you may not be able to end them, even though they are already gone. Also, would these new type of Walkers be called Talkers?
