Well, Tumblr has brought up some pretty stupid stuff in the past. People from Tumblr agreeing with something or bringing something up doesn't automatically make it wrong though.
It was a rhetorical question but yeah I just don't think it's right for people to suddenly decide they can write off valid criticism just because it comes from a place with the reputation of going overboard. That doesn't make what they have to say automatically not worth listening to.

Did any of you ever see their Walking Dead S1 livestream? They were cracking jokes for the whole thing. They were laughing and making jokes when Larry's head got crushed, they were laughing and making jokes when they dropped Ben. I'm pretty sure they were making jokes when Carley got shot.
Are people really that freaked out over a file name?! Have they even checked to see if the bitch slap file was there before Ep4? Did anyone … moreeven think that the programmer named it not because it's about Sarah but for a laugh cause they're bored as fuck and wanted the file name to be simple yet funny?! I can understand the Sarah thing before in that interview but this is ridiculous! It's really hard to not laugh...
This thread shows the Telltale community aren't the brightest of the bunch. I'm starting to think all your parents have started to mate with vegetables

No, this is not about right or wrong. It's about a sound file named "Bitchslap". I study informatics, and I give my program files and my code variables funny names ALL the time. I once wrote a text adventure and I named the variable of the player's weapon damage "dick_length". You do stupid stuff when you write code. Especially if you write code in a group, it can get very repetitive and boring. Trust me, nothing wrong with naming a sound file "bitch slap". If I try REALLY hard, I can understand people who find it offensive that the Telltale employees did not defend Sarah's death in front of Greg Miller. But getting angry over a stupid name for a sound file.. chill out, man
i understand your point, and if this was wrote as script for all the slap files..ok but im sure you know why fans are on edge a little bit with Telltale

They made the game, they made the choices. Who are they to tell Greg that he's making the wrong choices, when there are no wrong choices? That would be an asshole thing to do.

I agree with you, but I can understand that people who are angry with the way Sarah died might get angry because Telltale is joking about it. I don't agree with it, I don't think it's good, but it's understandable, especially since Telltale chose not to answer them.
Why would they defend Sarah's death?
They made the game, they made the choices. Who are they to tell Greg that he's making the wrong choices, when there are no wrong choices? That would be an asshole thing to do.
No, I don't. I can understand why they are disappointed with the game and angry that Telltale did not make it as good as season one. But there's no reason to be on the edge because of Sarah. She's a fictional character. If telltale murdered an actual girl, I'd understand it.
i understand your point, and if this was wrote as script for all the slap files..ok but im sure you know why fans are on edge a little bit with Telltale
I'd love to play that game again, but those three together take at least 100-120 hours... sigh.. I'm getting too old for this shit. xD I just played Persona 4 on Vita and that took 60 hours to complete.
You see, I got into Mass Effect pretty late. So I already had all the DLC for all three games.
Maybe it's just me, but the Leviathan DLC and Extended cut DLC made the ending really good,to me at least.
check there FB page lately? or the 33 thousand viewed topic on here? or there twitter feed? or the 10 or so Sarah topics created? they fucked up,and they know it.

They did not "fuck up". They wrote a death scene that some people find bad. There is a huge silent majority who is just enjoying these games without ever complaining.
Some people here tend to exaggerate. I did too a while ago, I was wrong to do so. No harsh feelings here, but some people should calm down.

"And that's what happened in episode 4. Over and over again Telltale forces you to think of Sarah as nothing more than useless, a burden, and there is nothing to indicate that there may be a different side to this view."
You're missing the point of TWDG entirely. We're not forced to do anything. Barely anyone sees Sarah as a useless burden, because that idea isn't just completely stampeded into our heads. We also see her positive traits like kindness, innocence, and her potential to be a great survivor. The player decides whether she's a burden or not. Telltale give us the means to do that with detailed characterization.
"But it was for nothing. It was an offensive and unsatisfying end for a well-developed and sympathetic character. And it has minimal effects on anyone in the plot. Sarah is dead, and no one notices. No one ever said anything about her being innocent or helpless. They act like it's her fault, and for that she deserves to be left behind."
It was a sad ending to her life representing how innocence and helplessness leads to death. It will affect Clementine. It will influence her later decisions. I never saw anyone blame Sarah for how she was... No one called her a burden or useless. Not even Jane.
"You just said that Telltale is supposed to let us make up our own minds. So now that they don't, it's ok because they aren't obligated to?"
That's my point. By not focusing on one aspect of Sarah's personality and her being unique with her own back story, personality and ideals we are given the opportunity to make up our own minds about her. They don't portray her as simply 'the grieving innocent girl who needs saving' - She has much more depth than that... So we can make our decision on her through her actions.
In Season 1 for example the Stranger isn't depicted solely as an evil, insane madman who wanted to hurt Clementine... We see that he was once a normal man with a loving family that he tragically lost. Some players will indeed see him as an evil piece of shit who deserves to die, but others will see him as a desperate, weak man with nothing left. That's the beauty of TWDG. There's never one side to a character.
"It's not up to the player to "make something affect Clementine". It's up to the writers. And aside from sad music and an expression of sadness when she dies the first time, there is nothing to indicate that she was affected."
Yes, it is up to the player. If it wasn't this would be more like a TV series than a game. My Clementine is depressed, pessimistic and is drastically losing hope and everything she says and does reflects this... She barely spoke to Sarah and shoved her away but always tried to save people, regardless of who they were, if she had the opportunity to do so. She blames herself for Lee's death and it chips away at her conscience every single day. If she survives Episode 5 with nothing left then she'll likely go on to be stone cold through Season 3, perhaps later finding yet another glint of hope in the darkness and remembering what Lee taught her.
This kind of roleplay makes TWDG what it is... I absolutely adore the freedom I have to mold Clementine's personality into what I want.
"Which is making it all about them."
So me beating myself up for not speaking to my dead grandfather enough makes me selfish? No. It's grief and regret induced by the death of someone loved.
"You're excusing Telltale's bad writing. A character failing to react does not mean they are consciously trying not to. It means the writers were lazy."
Depends on how you personally interpret the character's reactions. That's how I interpret it. I would have liked a little bit more general upset over Sarah's death but hey, I can forgive mistakes like that.
No, it's shit writing for a character to be portrayed as one thing forced down my throat rather than a multi-faceted individual.
And… more that's what happened in episode 4. Over and over again Telltale forces you to think of Sarah as nothing more than useless, a burden, and there is nothing to indicate that there may be a different side to this view.
It wasn't for nothing. Someone incredibly innocent and helpless died before Clementine. That'll affect her in future, I feel...

Not everything has to be portrayed in a certain way.

wrote a death scene? they stripped down, belittled, and degraded a character for their amusement but i know i know shes just fictional and killed her off cheaply because they opened a can of worms they didn't know how to close, but apologists for telltale will say shes just a fictional character...ive heard someone else say this before..

They did not "degrade" her. They simply killed her off because she obviously was not capable of surviving in this world. Yes, they could have written a better death scene, but it was in no way degrading. Sarah simply "ceased to function" after her Death died. He foreshadowed it. I wish I could have saved Sarah, but in now way did telltale "strip her down", "belittle" her or "degrade" her. At this point, only one thing left to say: Calm your tits.

To be honest, I found Sarah's death in the trailer park to be...pretty realistic.
You don't go from being a traumatized wreck, to being a giant beefcake bad ass in real life. And in a zombie apocalypse...that is a death sentence.
I'm not a Telltale mole because I don't share your opinion. You don't know wether there's been major plot changes. You just assume it. Nothing wrong with that, put don't present it as a fact.
You should learn to accept other people's opinion.
so should you, even if telltale came out and said its what we planned from the start, would you believe it? come on...look at the slides, the files, the disjointment of episode 3...Rebecca died at the hardware store giving birth, there were iniations from Eddies group taking clem in,its was dark, too dark for kids...

"Back"? I'm not from Tumblr. I honestly don't really even like Tumblr.
My lips are sealed .
Why is it that whenever tumblr is brought into this, no one wants to take it seriously anymore?
Most hate for it is about the ending it seems. There was some bad writing too but that was forgivable until that ending. * shudder *

for real,wish it wasn't
Guys, TellTale's always been like this.
Did any of you ever see their Walking Dead S1 livestream? They were cracking jokes for the whole thing. They were laughing and making jokes when Larry's head got crushed, they were laughing and making jokes when they dropped Ben. I'm pretty sure they were making jokes when Carley got shot.
love when fans try to defend things deep down they know are wrong?whats next a rape? its just a fictional character, get over it,blah blah blah...
Actually you're right.
That was actually the file name for when Walter got slapped.
This thread shows the Telltale community aren't the brightest of the bunch. I'm starting to think all your parents have started to mate with vegetables
i can't recall if there was a 'slap' in season 1,would it be in the files as 'bitchslap'?

haha so its was all a plan then from the start....funny how there was major script changes...but forget about that
I did not say it was a plan from the start.
I did not know you're a Telltale employee. Sorry about that

if i was an employee i would defend everything like you....oh wait ...you must be a Telltale mole
