Season 2 has a lack of focus.

I don't really know what the goal is in the story at all. In season one we had two clear goals in the story. 1. look for Clem's parents and 2. Find a boat and go to some island. I thought that going to Wellington was the clear goal in sight that we suppose to follow, but that hasn't been mentioned in the past two episodes - so I don't really know what's going on here.

  • The goal is protecting the baby

  • Actually neither seasons have had much of a focus other than the typical overarch of “survive”. Season one’s story of heading to Savannah didn’t start until you were forced to go there at the end of episode 3, which is where the other stories started. Lee decided by episode 4 that the boat idea was the best, while throughout the Stranger was stalking them.

Season two is mostly to head to Wellington as Christa said in episode 1, other “big” stories include the Carver thing and Rebecca’s baby, quite a bit of focus actually. They’ve broke it down into two mini-stories that was actually good, the Carver thing could’ve lasted a full season tbh and now with the second half, it’s probably a story about the baby? Who knows. Either way, we've got one full episode to show us where they're actually going with it. And more of Kenny being annoying as ever.

  • Finding Safety to Raise a Family like the talk with Luke when he asks you that question about what matters most. So I'm assuming that the Story is about getting somewhere safe to raise a Family i.e. Clementine getting to Wellington with the baby. Or in a grim interpretation this is the end of the line for Clementine she either makes it to Wellington or achieves peace through "other" means... (Death.)

  • The goal is to survive,as always.

  • Yeah. It does. This was echoed in Clem's dialogue in episode 1. Luke asks you "So since you're pretty much on your own now...what's your plan?" Clem's responses are all pretty indefinite: "I don't know" "Maybe stay here" "I'm thinking about moving on" "..."

She's a bit lost right now. I mean of course she is. As far as she knows she's lost all the people she's cared about and as much as she's trying to build relationships with the new people she meets, it's just not working out. I don't know. Hopefully, she'll find a constant companion to hold onto by the end of the season. But so far, it's looking pretty desolate for her.

  • Ugh complaining about Season 2 was SO last week.

  • Yeah. I think we've had more than enough whiney threads crop up lately that OP can voice their opinion in.

  • Sounds good, we're likely to run into Christa though, if she's alive she was heading to Wellington. Maybe it'll end like season 1 and Clem will see a figure in the distance? lol. Perhaps Clem will die and we can start season 3 as Christa instead. shrug I don't see them killing Clem though.

  • The goal has always been surviving. This complaining about a "goal" just looks like trying to find an excuse to complain about something.

  • Do you know how many of these there are?

THIS FACT HAS BEEN COMPLAINED ABOUT BY MANY FORUM USERS.

There are so many of these threads it's beginning to get sad.

  • The goal is to survive and live to see another day. It is the zombie apocalypse, after all.

  • Well, no, this isn't really whining. The devs essentially agreed with this point when Greg Miller brought it up. They talked about how this Season is more "open-ended" and less straightforward than Season 1. Whether that's a good, bad, or neutral thing is up to debate.

  • Season 1 had a lack of focus; and I'm fine with that. Some people randomly come up offering food and it turns out they're cannibals? You mention trying to find a boat; that didn't happen until the 3rd episode, and finding Clementine's parents wasn't a focus, it was an undercurrent, something that was frequently was referred to, but wasn't a major driver.

  • My point is there have already been countless posts related to this topic and creating this thread wasn't necessary.

  • It's relatively simple -

    Season 2 -

Episode 1 - Find shelter and safety

Episode 2 - Evade Carver and the Gang

    Episode 3 - Escape Carver's prison

Episode 4 - Find food, shelter, and safety..

It's the main stage. A human first instinct will always be to look for food, safety and shelter.

Thing is, having that undercurrent there is crucial in motivating the player and that doesn't really exist in Season 2. I mean sure there's the overall goal of "survival," but I think you really need a stable external goal to drive the character forward. If you asked players in Season 1 what Lee wants, every one of them will tell you straight out that it's to protect Clementine. If you ask players in Season 2 what Clem wants, I think you're likely to get a smattering of answers ranging from "protect the group" to "get the hell away from that group."

  • Both seasons had one goal and it's survival

In the first season it was about being a role model to clementine, try to preserve that innocence and show her that humanity still exists within us.

The second season is about whether or not to preserve Clem's innocence do we expose her to brutality so she can be a better survivor or do we still try to hold on to the hope that Lee tried to pass on down. It's all about Clementine's journey in a literal and metaphorical sense.

Season 2 has had it's fair share of problems but it's still been pretty darn great!
