Season Finale - Let's Take It Seriously
Seriously and realistically, to be exact.
First, I'm gonna summarize everything we know. Get ready.
Let's find our bearings.
Group is heading straight to Wellington, reffering to what Kenny said at the observation desk.
He agreed that town across the river will be good to check out.
So we are going there:
Let us not to be groundless. Look at the map:
I did crappy graphical representation as well.
Not sure about the distance between observation desk and the church itself, but it can't be less than 1 mile. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Grand River. There is real river called "Grand" somewhere near Michighan.
Place with church goes with name Down Town.
Then, we got a timeskip. They obviously couldn't swim across the river. Jane said:
The nearest river crossing is miles up.
Let's stop for a second here. That simply means one of those: the group didn't cross the river yet or they did some time ago, but had really hard and fatiguing hike. Regardless, they traveled long, we can judge it by amount of snow. Not a blizzard, but it's snowing.
Then:
Before nightfall? How the hell do you know that, Ken?
Baby formula.
Am I missing something? How did they get a baby formula? Back at Carver's camp? And they have all that stuff to feed a baby with? (yes, I mean a bottle, unless newborn motherless babies don't need to eat) I've never seen any of those. I don't think the baby is gonna make it.
Kenny's eye.
doctor's voice
Infection, most likely.
I wonder how long does it take for a wound to show signs of infection. It simply gets worse until you clean it up. Don't think Kenny's going to do that.
He coulda just said "It didn't kill me."
Possible foreshadowing?
Thoughts?
Comments
Hmm, interesting write up. I'm curious myself as to how this Episode will play out.
Thanks. I just hope everything will be explained sooner or later. I don't like plot holes.
Great post. Take an Upvote for the work you put into that!
Thanks, my friend! It didn't really take so much time, though. :>
Guys, any theories?
I don't think that Telltale will give Kenny an infection, even though I'd be realistic, but they're probably too lazy to write about that.
I think we'll have another timeskip in the finale and make it to Wellington, and about the Baby..
No clue how they will make it survive. I'd find it disappointing if Telltale'd kill it off, because It'd be lazy... but on the other hand, it's hard to carry around a newborn in a zombie apocalypse. It's definitely going to be one heck of a complicated finale.
Perhaps Kenny will be getting weaker (fever?) and when it comes to fighting walkers, he won't be strong enough to deal with them.
That'd be a nice touch, but it would complicate things. Telltale has been taking the straight route since episode three.
What did you mean by saying "straight route"? Being stick to the path, not paying attention to details? Just asking.
Kenny's eye doesn't look bad imo
Kind of worried about Kenny's eye thing, because that's even something I picked up on when they put focus on it again. We don't know what long lasting damage that would have left him with, but if Kenny doesn't keep cleaning it, it could get infected that way. Something like that though, it could take a few days for an infection to show...although the first character mentions anything about a funny smell or that he starts running a fever, I'm grabbing some tissues T_T.
The thing with reaching the town though and distance too, it we have to taken into account Rebecca wasn't well or moving as faster, and Jane didn't say how many miles exactly it was to reach the crossing [I can't remember, does a bridge or anything get shown on the map?] combined with the cold too that would made travelling worse for her, it all depends really. There's no way they can cross the water in that weather or a river that deep. No matter how close the town is they'd have to find a bridge.
Didn't one of the achievements mention 'Center cannot hold - reached the other side' could they have been talking about a crossing?
Edit:
But the baby formula and stuff, Bonnie took a backpack with her. She might've thought to take some things with her since Rebecca was so heavily pregnant, but just for the group as well [Luke seems to imply they had 'some' food on them.]
Great post. Let me just add this (not really important, but is something):
We have a achievement called Miles To Go, it's the second achievement, so it's probable that this achievement is talking about their journey to the terminus (church) and that will be more than 1 mile.
No, map didn't show a bridge or anything to cross over.
yes, you're right. Good memory
We have bright daylight after the timeskip, yet there is anything that'd tell us how close the river is. Area is pretty misleading, with trees and such. Kenny tells about "making to that town before nightfall", but I don't think we can take it as a confirmation. Wild guess, I'd say.
Right, I was talking about distance in a straight line, as Clem saw it with a telescope
And thanks for your find!
Okay then... But he got beaten almost to death.
Thanks
Got it
According to the achievements, they reach to the church (that is the terminus) in the morning or after the morning:
Yeah, we should be pretty darn worried about Kenny's eye. Developmentally speaking, the eye is an outgrowth of the same tissue that eventually becomes the brain. Since he friggin lost his eye, there definitely could be some complication with his brain, especially if there's an infection. Idk if TT will go that route though. As of now from the picture posted above and what I've seen, Kenny doesn't have any signs of infection (not to be graphic, but that would be white/yellow pus or any discharge, or swelling. Don't see any of that above. Doubt he had a fever, as he seemed as cold as everyone else when it was snowing.) Assuming Carver's camp was stocked well and that Carlos was able to get the proper resources for Kenny, I think Carlos may have been able to clean Kenny's wound pretty well. Who knows how long that could last though.
For the baby, I'm also assuming Carver was preparing for it; he certainly seemed excited for it. They had plenty of food in stock, so I'm sure he would've put the effort forward to get the baby its proper things, and hopefully Bonnie picked those up, like you said.
Not paying attention to details. They did that a lot this season.
Some people were thinking that they could be using the little island in the middle to cross the river:
and that this referred to the "Center Cannot Hold" achievement since it was in the middle of the river. But I don't think this is true, because it looks like they've walked a lot; the island looks to be right next to the civil war museum. If they walked that far already they might've gone right past it.
Also, I think this little cross circled in red could be a hospital or some sort of medical location they could get more supplies from?
If it is a hospital though, there might be a lot of dead there, or nearby! o.o
Possible BRAIN damage.
Medical supplies for Kenny and stuff for a baby? I hope so. It'd logical at least. Good find!
Do we know for sure terminus is the church?
Hopefully! And thank you; nice post!
You're welcome!
hes still alive, I don't know why you people keep complaining
aint gonna happen
I don't see any complaining about Kenny's eye or the fact that he's alive.
"Terminus" is likely meant literally here - the end of the road to Wellington, not just to the church. Don't forget that the achievement "We Slowly Drove" is a literal pun because its image shows a truck and it refers to reaching the terminus.
So my guess is that there will be a time-skip between "Through The Dark Night" and "We Slowly Drove." The group crosses the river in "Center Cannot Hold", finds working transportation in the town, and then end up right outside Wellington?
Time-Skip sounds likely. We'll see what happens. I'm pretty hyped for the final episode.
If it is, I got one question : Why would it take them two nights to get there? :S Unless somebody is hurt. Or we can assume the 'Stopped for the night' didn't go as planned and they had to travel through the dark.
It could be miles to go! But they got the titles for all the achievements for this ep from poetry/prose remember? E.g. This one is from Robert Frost's poem, "Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening":
...
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
Hm not sure if they're referring to literal mile(s)....
What if we meet Father Gabriel?
Sorry, I haven't read the comics.
I don't believe that the church belongs to Wellington. for various reasons and are presented in images.
If you didn't know, Parker's Run is in Tennessee. INFO
Clementine's Group, would be forced to walk more 750 miles to get to Wellington, Michigan.
These would be the Wellingtons more "close".
I give you some reason, it makes no sense that an episode get to Wellington without Skiptime.
No. According to the time that had passed from the beginning of the ZA, Father Gabriel is already found by Rick's group and probably in Alexandria right now.
A three hour drive? That has to be on a highway, too. This makes it a hell of walk. It might take them around a day to get there.
About driving, I remember that the 7th Achievement (directly after "We Slowly Drove") is called "Kindly Stop for Me" or something like that, so I assume that Clem will be in a car journey at some point in the episode. The fact that it says "Me" specifically instead of us implies that Clem will be alone at this point, probably regardless of choices made in the game. So in this context there is a strong possibility that she could get driven close to one of the Wellingtons, and ends up having to find another way there after breaking from the group. Interestingly the icon for that achievement is a "Rest Area" sign with several bullet holes, so I'm guessing there is some sort of hijacking or stealing of a car.
On an unrelated note, a lot of people associated with Telltale who have played the game have sent out messages suggesting that the episode will be incredibly sad, especially Perusco's photo of her being visibly broken. I highly doubt that Clem will die, but I'm guessing that most if not all of the current group will. About the sadness implied, I've got a hunch that there will be a Lee scene. Not a Walker Lee, but a Hallucination or Dream-Lee. A scene that provides hope and encouragement to Clem, but is also bittersweet when it's over, and evokes those painful memories from Season 1, perhaps in a montage or something. It would be absolutely incredible if they did have this sort of scene, and I really hope they do.
