I'm kinda sad the downvote is gone. The function never really bothered me, if I ever got any myself I didn't care. But I guess it could've been neglected with bullying or trolling perhaps, so that's a plus o.o

I found the downvoting to be useful.
If I did not agree with what someone was saying, I could downvote it, and then if I chose to explain why, politely give my reasons as to why I did not agree with that person.
Not saying everyone was civil in their disagreements, but I always strived to be.
