The confession and conversion of a former Kenny hater

I couldn't stand Kenny..

I've never been a Kenny fan, not since Season One Episode One, I don't like how he didn't attempt to save Sean, nor his decision to kill Larry, as well as his ludicrous plans to find a boat. Not to mention his blind ignorance and hypocrisy throughout both Seasons.. You get the point. The man was a liability. Heck I didn't even hug him when he reunited with Clem, I know right?

Now come the Season Two Finale there's the decision to kill Kenny or leave him, my Clementine couldn't bring herself to shoot him and thus he killed Jane, I thought about leaving him after this but surviving on your own with a baby in the freezing cold isn't a wise idea so I gave Kenny the silent treatment and we went on our way. He's basically a pair of hands and no more for me at this point.

We finally get to Wellington and Kenny decides to part way with Clementine and sacrifice his place for her and the baby to stay. The most touching thing about this is that Kenny finally gets it, he's a danger, he's a broken man and is only dragging down the people around him and Clem knows it.

Kenny figures it out on his own accord, it's not about what he thinks is best to keep the family united, it's about what's best for the ones you love the most, whether that be with you or without you.

Throughout both Seasons Kenny struggles to let go of Duck, Katjaa and Sarita, he's short sighted, he's irrational and blind. But when it comes down to the very end of the Finale he does what he never could and finally lets go of the only two things he has left in his life, AJ and Clementine, it's the ultimate sacrifice.

So after all the bull Kenny puts Clem and Lee through (in my playthrough at least) he finally makes the right decision and that's to walk away. Walk away from everything and leave with nothing. It's a symbolic death to me. Heartbreaking yet heart warming.

I never liked you Kenny, I always thought Lilly made more sense and if it came down to it, I'd have chosen Luke. That's now besides the point and none of that really matters anymore. But the last moments of my Clementine's thoughts weren't of a dangerous and broken man that was going to crack at any moment, but of a brave hero and effectively that's how my Clem will always remember him.

Thank you Kenny. I'll miss you.

  • Is this an apology?

  • If you used to hate him so much, why didn't you go with Jane?

  • Kenny's his dead ruined me, believe me im fucked up right now. Even tough i saved him, this last words, they broke me up. Then seeing fucks who shot him, that really ruined me. It only stays like this for a few days tough..

  • He made that pretty clear, he couldn't make himself shoot him.

While I didn't hate him, I did go with Jane as the first choice, cuz Kenny was really losing it. After playing it again and seeing the Wellington part with Kenny, I didn't leave Kenny, and I did find that ending the better one.

Now I'm wondering which ending I would like to go with, if TT decides to let us import the save for season 3 (if there is one).

  • Season 3 is confirmed and i just couldnt kill Kenny.. think about it..
The cute little girl he met on a barn, totally innocent scared of spiders, later shoots the man who protected her so long.
It just felt wrong, plus im die hard kenny..

  • Ceaser stop it man I can't take it anymore :'(
