I'm stuck on that as well for the last 25 minutes. I have started out at the Well, and followed the unique sounds (as well as picking up the bombs), but it only leads me back to where D'Oro is.
I've tried to enterpit the map as many times as I can, but my current conclusion is that either the map is wrong, or the pathways aren't leading me to where I'm supposed to be.
As it is right now, I am forced to to a constant save/load spam in order to figure out where each pathway leads, seeing as it changes when you go back the way you came, sometimes.
Any REAL hints would be of great help.
My current path is as follows: WELL (Starting point) -> Boar -> Monkey -> Bee -> Monkey -> Boar -> Bee -> Bird -> D'Oro.
Ya, I already did the same thing. I did already listen to the sounds of the map and it just keeps leading me in circles (as D'Oro said it would). Is there a specific place where D'Oro is that I'm supposed to place it?

There should be a confirmation noise each time you go the correct way.

Use the map ON the well before you follow the sounds.
It wasn't all to obvious that in order for you to actually start the treasure hunt, you'd have to USE the MAP on the WELL. After that the instructions were quite accurate.
THANK YOU!!! And telltale that was a bit ill-conceived that you have to use the map on the well, it wasn't clear at all. I got everything right but was bewildered that it wasn't working, thanks for the help.
I don't see why so many people had a hard time figuring out the part about using the map on the well. Granted, it did take me a few failed attempts, but that just convinced me to take a closer look at the map. It doesn't just show the well as the starting point - it shows a hand holding the map towards the well.

I figured the hand near the well would indicate your starting point, so that players won't get confused an start at the jungle entrance or where D'Oro is. I did need to read this thread to figure out I needed to use the map on the well... followed the path about 4 times or so without using the map on the well. I even tried to hide the ninja inside the clamp
1. Talk to (i know the doll mans name starts with O.. so ill call him olga) olga about his porclein pirate thingo.. till he mentions the rare ninja model
2. You get the option to say something along the lines of "Look its the ninja"
3. As olga turns around.. you pick up one of the pink dolls
4. Go dump this pink doll in the tar near the news agency thing
5. Get your club 41 card from the socks on the clothes line near the ship
6. go to club 41
7. Pick up that olive sword thing
8. Combine tar doll and sword
9. Follow the map (which you also get from olga by talking to him about how he got scammed)
10. Put the doll in the hole

Agreed. I really don't understand why you'd need to use the map on the well to be able to get to the treasure. Following the instructions should have been enough (as it was in MI 1) or at least should have been working without having the need to trigger the whole sequence with the map. To be honest, I've rarely been this frustrated over a puzzle, because was following the same tedious over and over while hoping to see something I missed.
Phew... I didn't realise to use the map on the well either; just thought I had to start there. Didn't really wanna come and look here in case I spoiled anything, lucky I found this one :-) Thanks folks...

If I keep walking that direction, the frame changes, there's a "fwoomp!" off in the distance somewhere, and he says something clever like "Oh, monkeyspit!" (and I know how he feels). If I walk back to the start point, I just stand there staring like a fool while nothing happens. If I drop the map in again, nothing happens. How am I not finding the X?

If you can't put the map in again, you should be able too once you "fail" anyway, exit the area, maybe go back to the docks, then go and try the well again. Make sure you follow it all down to the smallest detail, some parts are tricky, especially if they make you turn round on a single straight path due to a new noise behind you.

Basically, just tripple check everything first.
Here's my order of operations:
1. Walk up to wishing well and drop in ninja map (there's a little earthquake at this point).
2. Walk right (pig), down (monkey), up (bees), down (monkey), right (pig), up (bees), left (bird).
3. Wonder why nothing exciting happens at that point.

Must be a bug then, as thats exactly what I've done three times now, and it's worked everytime.
Only thing I can suggest is let them know about it, and if you have a save point try from there, if not, speed run back to that point with a new game.

Only thing I can suggest is let them know about it, and if you have a save point try from there, if not, speed run back to that point with a new game.
