Stupidity is the only option!
Okay, I'm done. There were several points in this episode where the game not only doesn't allow you to take the most sane, rational choice...IT WASN'T EVEN GIVEN TO YOU AS AN OPTION.
Approaching the ice: Not even a mention that it's the afternoon, the ice might melt and you should go around.
Arvo has a gun on you: SHOOT ARVO. I was seriously waiting for this option the entire conversation.
Kenny fights Jane: TAKE THE KNIFE AWAY. There were multiple times Clem could have done this and reduced to fight to slapping.
Kenny fights Jane 2: The Gun: SHOOT A WARNING SHOT!
Kenny fights Jane 3: The Shot: This one's a little more forgivable, but you didn't have to shoot to kill, Clem.
I wouldn't mind if these options were available and they didn't work out. But to not give them at all?! Idiocy. Pure, unerring idiocy.
Sorry, Telltale, but you have completely lost me at this point. I can't stand for buying future choose-your-own-adventure games where stupidity is the only option.
Comments
Ok, the first two were absolutely ridiculous. ANY RATIONAL PERSON WOULD HAVE AT LEAST THOUGHT ABOUT SHOOTING THE EVIL GUY WITH A GUN POINTED AT YOU!
This one is good.
I think that's a little unfair. Most of these options are absurdly risky or far too bullheaded to be doable, especially considering Clementine is still a little girl.
She was frozen up and confused by the whole situation. I don't think she really had it in her to shoot Arvo, unless you're playing an uber sassy Clem.
Clem could pull a gun on Arvo but not just shoot him? He was the only one with a gun on her, and he's betrayed her at least once by this point. Arvo should be dead by all rights.
you really hate enjoying games, huh...why even play then? I hear there's a new call of duty coming out soon...go wait for that.
Well you get 3 options for the ending at the fight part.
1 you shoot Kenny get 1 ending. You let Kenny kill jane you get another. Then the last is you let Kenny kill Jane then you shoot Kenny.
You can also kill bonie on the ice if you don't save luke then break the ice they say stop don't do that and if you stop well then bonnie doesn't make it out. The 1 thing I didn't like was the Mike and Arvo thing. Point gun talk it's the exact same thing just 1 second after. Then you can threaten or give him the gun or yell for help you don't get the choice to at least shoot at arvo or mike. So everyone can die but Arvo, Mike, AJ and Clemintine.
(Possibly a double post. My response didn't appear the first time around)

"Evil guy" - Arvo didn't prove himself to be evil at all until he shot Clem by surprise.
What do you have against logic?
I'm not sure you and I were playing the same game, friend. It was no surprise or accident that he shot Clem. Also, this is the dude who lies about you stealing his supplies and gets everyone ambushed. Mike was a fool to trust Arvo.
The thing is, nobody would be able to make most of these smart decisions in the heat of the moment. People do stupid things in dangerous situations. They make poor judgements, and aren't thinking straight, simply relying on their natural instincts. We can think of smarter solutions, but that's because we know what's going to happen, these characters don't.
He kept being the most super suspicious person in the world... and he was leaving Clem and the baby either way, so that makes him pretty evil. I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING: He goes with the person that KILLED his sister. I SO HOPE HE WANTS REVENGE AGAINST BONNIE AND MIKE NOW.
I can see the rest of them, but not shooting Arvo is just ridiculous. They had guns on each other! For Clem not to think "Holy crap I gotta kill him before he kills me" stretches suspension of disbelief.
I'm still looking forward to season 3, but I do agree with the examples you mentioned. It was frustrating not to have those logical choices to choose from.
Another option I wish we'd had when trying to save Luke: Get down on your stomach and crawl over to him instead of walking. I thought crawling instead of walking on thin ice was common sense, so I was surprised that wasn't an option. But TT wanted Luke to die there no matter what we did or how we did it, nothing we did would've worked![:( :(](https://community.telltale.com/resources/emoji/frowning.png)
I hate fans like you.... -_-
I've been thinking about that, and it might have something to do with contrieved ignorance; me, I'm in a country that's too cold for polar bears so I know the proper behaviour when you are out on an ice. That might not really be the case for someone growing up and accustomed to warmer climates.
That said, someone in the group should have known that the proper way to cross ice is by crawling over it.
He told his group that Jane attacked him and robbed his gun, and then it's revealed that it wasn't even his idea to either rob Clem in retaliation. It's the fault of Buricko, who forced his group into trying to rob Clem even if they didn't want to and then started the gunfight despite Arvo's protests to the contrary.
If Kenny had any kind of brain, he would have realized that Arvo was not a threat once his family were dead. He MADE Arvo a threat by treating him so monstrously.
yeah the whole time i was thinking about spreading the pressure, luke should have lay down on the ice when it started cracking and that is how he could have been saved if it did crack
i agree with the shoot arvo option, i pulled my gun straight away to stop them, and then after arvo pulled his gun out i wanted to shoot him ASAP
Exactly!! I'm from Virginia which I think is the state they're currently in, and even this far south most've us are smart enough to know you need to lay down on the ice. Hell I figured that out when I was 5 or 6, it's all about weight distribution
I agree with you on that one. Maybe because I'm biased, and just really wanted to put a bullet through Arvo's head. Not sure Clem would though, but I suppose it depends on your Clementine.
She was willing to shoot the Stranger, so I'd say it would be in character.
That was because Lee was in danger. It's different in this situation, as we don't know what Arvo is capable of during the moment.
Because the plot demands it.
Uh, no. Arvo told his group that Jane and Clem had stole his supplies when we didn't. He was clearly trying to hide away the supplies when Jane and Clem caught him, and the coward tried to pin it on the two girls he just met.
Arvo was always going to be a threat. Always. Kenny went overboard, but he had the right idea. And no matter how nice you are to Arvo, he'd end up shooting Clem anyways. The fact that shooting Arvo was never even an option is beyond stupid.
Yeah! Logical points? go away! we don't need fans that thinks rationally!
Yes, we do know what he's capable of. He lied to his own group and caused an ambush on another group. He immediately pulls a gun on Clem. No one in their right mind wouldn't assume their life wasn't in danger.
And assuming that Clem could shoot someone to protect Lee's life but somehow couldn't shoot to protect her own is a stretch.
I wish I could have broken up the fight and just left with Jane and AJ, leaving Kenny alive. He shouldn't be in a group, in my opinion, but kind of didn't deserve to die.
On the other hand, he started the fight and tried to kill Jane for doing something which was, as far as he knew, accidental, so, yeah.
I agree. She can't shoot the person who's stealing their vehicle and has a gun pointed at her? But she can easily shoot Kenny. I don't particularly like Kenny, but if we can shoot him with ease there should have been a option to shoot Arvo with ease also.
I'm also a little pissed i could not shot a warning shot, or that you could at least shot kenny in the leg or something... There was no reason Clem had to kill him either.
I get your points, I really do. This is all things I thought of while playing. Much face palming was going on when they crossed the ice.
Yet we have to remember; this is a game. If we never crossed that ice, the emotional scene where Luke died and Kenny started beating on Arvo wouldn't have happened. Interesting, dramatic events wouldn't have unfolded. It'd be, well....boring. Shooting a warning shot may have stopped the fight but...then what? Once again, the outcome wouldn't have been as entertaining and intense as choosing who lives and who dies.
Remember that this game gives us the illusion of choice, not the actual choice to change the course of the story completely.
Really pissed me off that we couldn't just go around the ice. I mean seriously what the fuck? Literally common sense.
this is the walking dead do you really expect a happy ending from them -_-
I'll add that it's taken me a long while to get to this point. I've really liked Walking Dead up to this episode. In the past, there's been some blurps where something slightly stupid has happened, and I forgave, shrugged it off and trudged along.
But the sheer number of shoe-horned, illogical non-choices in this episode did nothing but make me angry. A non-choice for your player is a bad gameplay decision in an adventure game. The amount of illogical non-choices in this episode left a very sour taste in my mouth. And it's highlighted that these kind of storytelling mistakes have happened a lot this season. It adds up, and I'm very unhappy about it.
I can't imagine I'll want to invest my time in a Season 3 when the expectation must be more of this kind of shoe-horning in the future. In the end, I'll vote with my wallet.
It could DEMAND it in a logical way, not a way where we could do something that would actually save the situation instead of being FORCED TO DO EVERY FUCKNIG THING.
I really wanted a warning shot, that's why i grabbed the gun. But no..I just had to look way![:/ :/](https://community.telltale.com/resources/emoji/confused.png)
