Why Season 3 needs to start fresh

I know we all love Clem but I believe season 2 should be the end of her story, it wrapped up nicely in each of the endings, and if Clem was the protagonist yet again, the next season would have to start off with Clem in the same spot and your determinant choice dying, most likely offscreen, this making your choices not matter. Also, while I enjoyed playing as Clem at first, I really miss playing as an adult like Lee who is kind of the group leader, (I didn't connect as much with Clem as I did with lee and Kenny as well). Plus, the game could start in a new area that hasn't been explored in the comics or the show, which would be refreshing

  • I fully agree. Now, I considered Clem as the protagonist being a mistake, but we rowed her to shore. So, if there is going to be a third season, it would make much more sense to start over from day one with a completely different character.

    I disagree, completely.

  • Honestly the finale made me a little open to the idea of having Clem remain the protagonist (before I was praying for a new protagonist), but I still would love for a new story that starts at the beginning of the apocalypse.

  • I hope that Clem is the protagonist for the third Season. I liked Lee, but things never really felt that desperate when you're playing a 180lb guy made of distilled badass. As Clem things felt that little more dangerous, and you had to work a lot harder to get anyone to pay the slightest bit of attention to your opinions (which were then ignored 90% of the time). So nope, have to disagree I hope that Clem will be the protagonist in Season 3. What I do hope is that there will be a time skip again that'll put her around the 13 or 14 year old mark and that she'll be able to develop into a character that the others will pay more attention to.

  • I would like Clementine as protagonist again, but maybe older? If we just got a completely new character it would kind of make the first two seasons meaningless.

  • Bye bye then.

  • The big problem now is how TT is just gonna start S3 and Clem's gonna wind up in Wellington one way or another and everyone will be whining that that ruined the ending of season 2...

  • She is the major selling point. Without Clem, no TWD game.

It's just a false fan. They'll be missing out on a good story.

    Bye bye then.

  • No.

And for the determinant choices they can always start three different paths (if they try) and make the story follow One path pretty quickly.

  • Random idea but what if, to make the situation more dire and desperate, we start off season 3 as a new character who is missing a limb? It would add interesting dynamics that we got a little bit of if you chose to cut off lees arm, but seeing the difficulties that Reggie had with his missing arm and Argo had with his leg brace (not really a missing limb but close enough) I think it would be pretty cool. I'm also a huge tv show hershel fan, an older protagonist would be neat too as he'd have to put up with difficulties of his age

  • With how many endings there are, I don't know how they could make Clem the season 3 protagonist. That's a lot of plot points to tie in. Regardless, it was one hell of ride. I was glad to be a part of it.

  • My big issue with this though is that I never felt my choices mattered until this last episode where we have true determinant characters who don't just get offed in a half assed way, and I love the fact that your ultimate fate is different based on what you choose. Basically I don't want telltale pulling another Omid on Jane/Kenny to get Clem in a certain place as that would destroy the point of branching endings

  • yeah a fresh start would be like season one again where we know nothing about anybody and infinite possibilities of the story add to the intrigue and tension

  • I think Clementine should be in Season 3, but not as the player character.

  • An interesting idea but I think it'd work better after an introduction to the character. One of the big selling points for S2 was the link to Lee's death: it hadn't been a waste and that Clem was surviving. I think to suddenly cut and run to someone that has never been met before would be jarring.
