Telltale please answer: Is Clems story over?

At first I wasn't really on board with Clem remaining as the protagonist but after playing the whole season in a row
I'm really attached to her and don't want her story to end
What do you think? Is it really over? I say this because of the many different endings
no idea how they could pull of Season 3 with Clem at this point

  • I don't think it will be over.

I really loved all the endings, but they are all very anticlimactic if this is the end of Clementines story. There is so many possibilities to branch out on now, that I am more interested in her story than ever before.

If they were to end her story, I would want a more solid conclusion to her story, rather than making me more interested in it than ever.

  • We won't get an answer until they release the first info about Season 3, probably. My bet is that we play as Christa following the events of 201.

  • Please no.

  • I feel like with five different endings, it'd be really hard to make a third season with Clem as the protag. I'd love to see Telltale try, but I don't think it'd be very feasible. :\

  • Telltale: Will be answered SOON.

  • I have a feeling playing as her probably will be, though I hope she's going to be traveling with the new protagonist.

  • That's why I both love and dislike having 5 endings.

It's really awesome that we got 5 different endings, but I feel if this is the end of the Clementine story, they just weren't conclusive enough.

  • I know it might be nagging, but could you edit the title as a spoiler for people who havent played it yet? I know it's not really a spoiler, but it also indicates that the story might not be over yet, which means Clem is alive.

  • It's not ogre... It's never ogre...

  • Didn't really like Clementine as protagonist this season. But episode 5 made me sort of change my mind to where I wouldn't mind continuing as Clementine.(though still rather have new protagonist.)

Also I doubt telltale will answer anytime soon.

I totally agree with you—I'd rather not have Clem just vanish off the face of the earth.

I would lovelovelove to see how Telltale would handle the story branching in season three, but that'd be essentially writing out at least four different games for at least the first episode, given that the Jane routes can probably be merged.

  • lily might me the main character in season 3

  • I am not sure if Clementine will be the protagonist of Season 3, but I am sure that we haven't seen the last of her.

  • It's 20 years later and Clem is the Kenny of season 2, that would suck...

  • Yeah, I loved 5 endings thing, but I feel only one of them (Clem staying at Wellington) was something that could conclude the story. Especially ending where she is alone with AJ is far from being conclusive.

  • 5 endings hmm? 5 episisodes.. lol

  • As long as the next writer isn't lazy then it shouldn't be too hard.

They should have a DLC, which sort of caps of your ending but then sets up the elements needed for Season 3. So the writer has a base to start writing from, if you get what I mean.

  • Why not have two protagonists you could switch between? Kinda like Sam and Max, trying their best to survive in the post apocalyptic world, where you switch between a physical character and stealthy character (Clementine). Thing is it would have to be more of an actual GAME rather than a great interactive story. Like I said somewhere out there, let them lay off the topic for a while, see how people react to the season's finale, let them think about a good topic to explore and maybe consult the community? Imho, Clem is one of the few child characters I like in the world of PC gaming, would be a shame to just kill her off on a cliffhanger (Shenmue 2 anyone?)

    Peace

  • In the end, if they want to continue with Clem as a protagonist, she will have to abandon whatever group she is with (along with AJ), unless you already chose for her to be on her own with AJ. I think this could be done in one episode, but it would feel forced.

I can't really see us playing as a new character.

On the other hand I think there is a flaw in playing as a young kid that is more mature and reasonable than most of the adults. I never felt all that comfortable that a kid makes most of the decisions of the group.

  • I wouldn't mind having a new protagonist, nor would I mind continuing as Clementine. But since there are 5 possible endings, I don't know how Telltale is going to pull it off. Guess we will have to wait and see...

  • Oh god no. I'd rather play as a rock and just sit there on the ground doing nothing.

Right, that might be over-exaggerating, but Lilly should NOT be the protagonist.

  • Sadly, it really is going to be difficult to make a story out of Clem's current position (since there's multiple endings) I doubt it's completely impossible though. I've said this before, but I think a story where she's a little older and taking care of AJ as a child now would be a great one since it will also be symbolically similar to the first Season when Lee took care of Clem.

  • :)

Triple post happen to the best of us, man.

  • If you didn't the Wellington ending I don't where it could go. I got the alone ending Clem and aj. I guess they do it like season 1 where its Clem alone in the field then you see the two figures on the hill. Then you pick up season 2 with omid and christa. So maybe Clem is searching for good or something with aj and we start season 3 from there? Wow this is gonna be confusing.

  • There's no reason for a new protagonist for Season 3 as Clem is still alive. Also the fact we have these different endings this time finally makes it feel much more like a "choice and consequence" decision rather than just having some different dialogue and a character or 2 that lives a bit longer.

Now Season 3 HAS to have different opening sequences as Clem could be with Kenny, Jane(+ the family), on her own with AJ or in Wellingtons safe place where there will be a whole load of new characters to meet.

  • How can there be a solid conclusion other then her dieing. Al least with these ending you can have your own head cannons on her fate.

I really loved all the endings, but they are all very anticlimactic if this is the end of Clementines story. There is so many possibilities

  • Maybe we get a 5-10 min specific introduction for each of the 5 endings and then we all end up in a specific place? I'm not sure honestly if they plan to continue her story, it looks like they have something else in mind but it would seem odd to start a new protagonist.

Clem has built up a good background story for us within 2 seasons and now they just want to throw that away and start over? Doesn't make sense to me. I think continuing with Clem would be the right call, but Telltale just put them selves in a position where they have to go through some slight story branching.

there wont be anything hard to continue story.... i think its easy.

there must be written one main story.

no matters what ending u taking, as i saw every time, u had to do some choice between ppl no matters who u save, another one anyways dies soon or later. so to look this all endings now, u stay with Jane, simple at the start of season 3 Jane dies, u stay with Kenny at the start of season 3 Kenny dies(Damn i dont want that badass to die!!!) u stay alone, problem is more easyl solved :D the main this is Clem and child staying alive, there for sure will be some point where main story will start in season 3, so if we look this it max takes about 10 minute playing story to connect start with main story. there is nothing hard. just make 5 different 10 minute starts and connect it to mains story. its all easy, but i already got a point , no matters who u will save , if u have to make choice they will anyway die in future....

and comn guys, nobody's gonna end up with Clem's story this way, its BS :D u was playing for 2 season to become a strong badass child just to end up with this kind of shit in nowhere? :D lol. she is just main character, u wasnt playing with Clem in season 1 but she anyway was main character Lee just second character. i am prety sure if telltales will drop Clem this way they will just loose 90% of lovers of this game.

  • why not? it could...sure she wasn't all that great in 1st season but come on she did try to get the group together.....

  • I believe, as a hunch that we will get a new protagonist, perhaps an old character from s1 (Christa/Lilly, as we havent had a female protagonist yet) And that protagonist will find Clem at some point.

  • I will not play Season 3 if Clementine isn't the protagonist in Season 3
