Your thoughts on Arvo?

Since i first robbed his medicine, and killed his sister i wanted to just kill him off quick as our relationship was a bit sour to say the least, but of course we never had the chance to even shoot him when he was pointing a gun at us. What are your thoughts on him?

  • I think he is a moron. His sister died because they tried to rob the party, not because Clem headshot the walker she turned into. Still he blames Clem for that and shoots her in return, for absolutely no rational reason but revenge. He is a dick, plain and simple.

  • I was honestly a little confused.. was Arvo to blame for Luke's death? Indirectly for running away and causing everyone to run?

I saw him as a kid who had it out for Clementine as soon as she shot his sister. Walker or not, it's hard to see someone you love die. He seemed hell bent on saving her when our groups were shooting at each other. So I understand where his anger was coming from.. still doesn't justify him shooting me and then leaving me for dead.

  • Eh. I think Arvo/Bonnie/Mike had some justifications and some stupidity behind them. But fuck morals.

Just let the Russian Harry Potter go with the Ginger and the Smart Cookie.

Arvo is one of the few characters who I never truly understood.

I didn't take the medicine, I tried to reason with him prior to the shootout, I shot his undead sister (he must've known she wasn't alive when she was trying to eat/kill me), I tried to make him feel welcome to the group, I always chose the options to intervene with Kenny abusing him, and I was willing to let him go with Bonnie and Mike -- yet after all of that, he shot an 11 year old girl. In a way, he (in my play-through) bit the hand of the person who fed him with a golden spoon.

The outcome of the Arvo situation proved that your choices don't always matter in the end, and I'm almost certain his character was added to emphasise on Kenny's irrational behaviour.

  • Yes! +1 for your last bit. It brings to light how linear telltale games are, really. I do 2 playthroughs, 1 just whatever i want and 2 the opposite of 1 lol and my 2nd playthrough was as you say be as nice and kind to Arvo as possible but no matter what he shoots you sigh why can't the games be less linear or forceful. That's why i think if TT starts season 3 depending on your ending of the 5 endings of S2 then it would give them alot more credibility to the "your choices matter" bit.

  • i always tell Kenny not to kill him just so i have a chance to kill him myself

  • I like him, and I hope to see him, Mike and Bonnie in the future.

  • He's no different than any of our survivors. Its easy to judge from the other side but everyone is trying to get by. They all make bad choices and mistakes.

  • If I had the option to after the shootout, I'd of left him there alone.

  • I don't think he was to blame for Luke's death, he didn't make the ice break. I don't know why he bothered running though, like, where was he going to go, to the house? I don't think he thought that through. All in all though, I don't think his actions were justified, especially if you were a player that was nothing but nice to him.

I always hated Arvo. I don't know how people couldn't. After all of these "don't pick up survivors, they are dangerous" messages in the game, they try to force sympathy on him when Kenny had good reasons to be vile against him.

Shooting Clementine? Really? What is wrong with this guy? Everything about him was horrible.

A little shitbird who was too stupid to listen to anyone.

  • I hope kenny shot that ruskie through the head when he shot Clementine i just wanted to torture him to death seriously no one wounds clemmy!!!!

  • I feel like Arvo was just their for two reasons. 1) To make Kenny look like a total bad guy and 2) To make the character think for a split second that Clementine was dead

Over all, I was super nice to Arvo the whole way through, and he shot me anyway, so basically I hope he rots with Mike and Bonnie. I feel like their wasn't enough depth to him to really care about him. I felt bad that one time when he was chained up and we were all sitting by the fire, but then he just yells at everyone who's trying to be nice, after that, I felt no sympathy for the guy what so ever. I mean, Clem lost her parents and Lee, Kenny lost his family and girlfriend, Luke lost Pete and Nick, and none of them shot an 11 y/o girl, so what's his excuse?

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. When i first played the episode i was expecting to hear gunshots after "Clem... what have you done... Clem" i mean if Kenny gets aggressive pretty easily and hates Arvo then surely if he sees clem bleeding out on the floor he would shoot Arvo without thought

  • Kenny had no good reason to be 'vile'. Besides, the main "don't pick up survivors" comes from Jane and we know how polarizing she is.

I always hated Arvo. I don't know how people couldn't. After all of these "don't pick up survivors, they are dangerous" messages in the game

  • And even after he yelled at Mike, Mike was still very nice to him lol makes no sense

  • The people who just killed his family have chained him up to freeze in the cold, and are busy holding a birthday party.

Can you seriously not see why that would piss him off?

  • First off, we didn't kill his family. Clem shot his undead sister, btw I tried not to shoot her but she eats your face off. Second, his sister would of tried to killed us had she not been shot right away. Third, if their was an option to ask him to come sit with us I would of asked him, but TT doesn't let you really talk with him. Lastly, I know he was pissed, because he shot me, I think that's more then even.

A bit angry we didn't have a option to shoot him, even if he eventually survived it.

But I still think I would not have shot him myself though I was tempted. Not because I had any hate towards him but because I felt he endangered the group more than he benefitted it. If there had been an option to let him loose after reaching the house I think I would have taken that.

  • Well obviously you can see that but you can't make out why Mike is being nice to him so much

  • To me he's another character who received the Written-Out-Of-Character-For-The-Drams treatment that some of the characters in TWDG got. You're nice to him, defend him, don't do anything to him, hell, he even looks like he want to befriend you sometimes, but yet and still he shoots you? It makes no sense, and only happens to make things more dramatic.

So, I still like him. I think that if the writers were to have better applied your choices to the characters in the game he would not have shot you if you were nice to him.

  • Arvo better pray my Clem never gets across him in S3 or I will kill that crapbird without mercy.

  • After not robbing him and trying to be nice to him, even when he didn't stop his group from attacking us, his behavior was simply irrational for me. Deserves to die. I don't like to say it because I tend to be forgiving and give 2nd oportunities to the characters but man, he earned it. If we come across him next season, if I can't kill him, at least I will treat him like hell

  • I totally agree with u OP xD The first thing in EP5 I wanted to do was shooting Arvo. I liked him and felt really pity for him. But i fcking KNEW he will try to kill us and someone will die because of him...and I was right
