There can't be a big time skip, Clementine can't be an adult

i see a lot of people saying season 3 should be about Clementine being an adult raising AJ, but that can't happen, at most time could skip two years without it exceeding the comic storyline, so raising a two year old won't be much different than a baby in terms of what they could do in a zombie apocalypse.

You may think "why does it matter if telltale exceed the comic storyline" well, it matters because what if Kirkman decides to do a nuclear winter storyline where some people/countries launched nukes to wipe out the walkers, and everybody has to start living in bunkers to avoid the radiation and harsh weather, or maybe in a few years the zombie virus will start mutating and zombies start to regenerate but with weird tentacles that replace their lost body parts or whatever, and many other things which could effect the whole country that telltale could never predict.

finally i don't think Kirkman would allow telltale to go past his timeline and basically what he says goes when it comes to the walking dead, so sorry guys we can't have an adult clementine unless kirkman puts a massive timeskip into the comics, like right now.

  • Yep, the latest comic time skip was just two years although it seemed to be kinda longer to me with that big community, older Coral and Rick's beard.
14 years old Clem would be cool to see.

  • 13 years old, and in my opinion it would be no different to an 11 year old clementine

  • 14 years old. In the comics, about 5 years have passed.

No... they can timeskip to Clem being 14 i think you guys are forgetting this may not be released by 2015/2016 and by then she could be 14.

So they could timeskip 3 years by the time Season 3 starts

  • well she started at 8 years old so 8+5= 13, but maybe she could be only just 14, but still clementine would just be taller, and maybe know what sex is, but she basically acts 14 (or older) already so she wouldn't be much different

  • Nah. It has been about two and a half years until All Out War started, and since then, another two years have passed. That makes four and a half years. Telltale could easily do another two and a half years time jump, which would make Clementine 13 and a half. 6 months more wouldn't hurt, I guess.

  • Yeah I know. She would have just turned 14 if they'd do that timeskip.

  • Honestly, I would be fine with only 2 year timeskip. Clementine being 13 years old would work good. And seeing Alvin Jr as a toddler, like Hershel Jr from the comics, would definitey add some more interesting stuff in the game, since he won't be a child yet, but he will interact with the environment more.

  • why does there have to be a time skip in the first place. Just lemme cruise the states with Kenny and AJ right off the bat. Fine with me.

  • well, they don't have to, but it seems like a recurring thing that people think that a big time skip is a thing that telltale could do

  • I mean, I know it's supposed to be somewhat cannon, but in the actual game, it's only explicitly stated that it's based off the comics. At this point, I think TTG the Walking Dead is really it's own little universe now. I don't think it would be much if a problem. Not saying I would like it, but I don't think it would be that hard to do.

Once again its up to telltale and I believe it would not be a problem. Unless this is official news or some contract telltale has[not to have clem older] then I would love a older Clem. This is a game set in the Walking dead world, characters events up to telltale. Same with the TWAU, yeah it belongs to Bill but the plot and few [fan made original characters-characters not in comics] in the game was up to telltale. Thier not stealing or anything just making a game about or in thier worlds. Staying accurate tho to comic characters is even better. Clem was never in a comic

once again this story and characters in this [ game ] are not written by the creator nor in the comics, so yes I believe it is possible unless the creator actually wrote, working for telltale with this game series I think its open water as long follow basic rules in the walking dead universe just like TWAU

once again it's up to kirkman not telltale

  • the story for the game isn't written by kirkman but the walking dead is owned by him, the basic rules for the walking dead is that it is set in the comic timeline, TWAU got permission to be a prequel to fables, but they obviously had to tie that in with the comics, a story of the walking dead set ten years in the future couldn't tie in with the comics, and i highly doubt telltale would get permission to set it in the future of the comics because of the reasons i have already listed

Thats what am referring too is the story so in the story one can make Clem older if they want for the game story which she is in.They are sticking with the rules for the worlds while at the same time throwing their own fan made twists and characters for this media or video game that takes place their.

  • the walking dead game isn't fan fiction, telltale is a business that is making money from the intellectual property of robert kirkman, clementine and the walking dead game is part of the walking dead franchise which is owned by kirkman, they have contracts and guidelines to work within, they can't just throw in their own fan made twists that go outside the confines of the comic and the guidelines they work with.

  • I was about to say this myself. Plus, Kirkman knows how much the TT's TWD has evolved. So I don't see a timeskip being completely impossible.

  • I think from here on out, The Walking Dead is going to mainly revolve around Clem trying to raise the kid (AJ), similar to what Lee did for her in season 1. She's probably going to become a Lee figure and AJ a super early version of Clem. Almost like passing the torch in a sense, the crazy events of Episode 5 almost being like a rite of passage into womanhood/adulthood (maybe it just seems like that to me b/c I killed Kenny and couldn't forgive Jane and went it alone with AJ). There truly is no going back for Clem at this point which is what I think the title of the episode is alluding to which opens up the rest of what happens in TWD in future episodes and seasons.

Don't forget we still got a year or two before Season 3 shows up. Who knows what'll have happened with the comic by then.

We can only go two or three[?] years to the future now to catch up with Rick, but who knows if there won't be more time skips in the comics in the coming years.

  • ...LOL, your dumb.

  • Even so, Season 3 could start anew with a different protagonist and we could revert back to Clementine as protagonist (or at least as a major character/deuteragonist) in Season 4. I'm sure that by then, there'll have been enough time elapsed for us to plausibly see her as a girl around Sarah's age.
