TellTale loves short names.

edited August 2014 in The Walking Dead

I was thinking about the characters in both seasons, and they all have short names. I will name all characters with names of 5 letters or less (In no order):

Lee, Clem (Her name isn't Clem its Clementine, but everybody calls her Clem, so...), Larry, Lilly, Doug, Glenn, Duck, Kenny, Chet, Shawn, Ben, Omid, Brie, Vince, Danny, Shel, Becca, Roman, Nate, Eddie, Wyatt, Nick, Luke, Pete, Sarah, Alvin, Sam, Troy, Tavia, Mike, Arvo, Jane, Andre, Irene, David, Danny, Molly, Clive, Joyce, Anna, Boyde, Clyde, Jerry, Dee, Ralph, Vera, Tisha, Tyler, Gill, and Edith.

Now you might be thinking, "durr well most names have five letters" here are the ones with 4 or less:

Lee, Doug, Duck, Chet, Ben, Omid, Brie, Shel, Nate, Nick, Luke, Pete, Sam, Troy, Mike, Arvo, Anna, Dee, Vera, and Gill.

Names with 3 or less letters:

Lee, Ben, Sam, and Dee.

This isn't really important, its just cool.

Comments

  • Gill has four letters by the way. Also yes, they do love really small names. But it's fine :D

  • Fixed, and yup. Maybe its because they are easier to say.

Yeah. Most of the characters don't have last names except for Lee Everett, Ben Paul, and William Carver.

  • A lot of those are just shorthand and not necessarily the full name (hypocorisms), not just Clem. Larry/Laurence, Lilly/Lillian, Doug/Douglas, Kenny/Kenneth, Ben/Benjamin, Vince/Vincent, Danny/Daniel, Becca/Rebecca, Nate/Nathan, etc.

  • Ben Paul,William (bill?) Carver

Yeah. Most of the characters don't have last names except for Lee Everett, Ben Paul, and William Carver.

  • It's likely because having people say long names all the time would sound robotic, it's why people in real life use shortened names, it flows better.

  • Well, when Lilly was born, I bet Larry wasn't like, "I'll name her Lillian." They named her Lilly, like Ben was names Ben and not Benjamin. The rest, maybe.
