Kenny and Jane are ONE and the SAME. (SPOILERS)
Kenny: boiling point is his family. It's what makes him upset as we have seen countless times. He regrets not being around for Duck. Jane: her touchy point is her sister, how she forced her on a march through hell. She regrets being mean to her before the outbreak.
Kenny found it really hard to accept Duck was dead when he was bit. Jane found it really hard to accept that her sister wanted to be 'let go'.
Kenny has been trying to replace his dead family, and for the purpose of this, his son. He tried to with Clem and now AJ. He wants to be there for them like he couldn't be for Duck. Jane couldn't help seeing Clem as Jaime, and wants to teach Clem how to survive like she couldn't for Jaime.
For both of them, Clem had been the reason they wanted to change.
Kenny and Jane collaborated on the escape plan from Howe's. After that, both have had their own leadership opinions, equally as risky.
Kenny doesn't trust anyone, like when he met the cabin group. Same with Jane, she didn't trust Arvo one bit when they met in 204, or the family in the Howe's ending in 205.
Kenny and Jane constantly pull Clem aside to talk about the other group members, when Kenny met the cabin group and Reggie, and Jane when they went to find Luke, Sarah and Nick.
The main group is equally uncomfortable about Kenny and Jane. Bonnie never trusted Jane, and Luke constantly was worried about Kenny's mental state.
Therefore, can we really say it is better to let one or the other die? No.
This is what Telltale meant. Is your Clementine empathetic, sees Kenny's struggles because shes been there for all of them, and stays with him? Or is your Clementine more about humanity, saving Jane's life because it's the kind thing to do, even if it's at the cost of another's? Or is she a survivor, lives to protect herself and her own?
It was up to us, and we all decided. No one is right, or wrong. We're all entitled to our opinion of which is right or wrong, but no one can say for sure.
Comments
They are, but Kenny had better reasons. His son and her sister, Jane is the same but with a weaker backstory, if you know what I men.
It's sad that more people don't see it this way. Everyone here thinks their decision is the right one, which is really starting to become tiresome. Jane Vs Kenny threads seem to pop up every minute.
hahahaha i noticed that too.... XD
Two sides of the same coin? Yeah, I can agree with that. It all depends on which side you'd rather stick with.
Kenny: Hell, Clementine is like family. You don't have to ask me to help you find her. I'm going, whether you want me to or not. (basic attitude from S1 E5).
Jane: Baby? Who knows? Why don't you go out there and look for it? I'm not telling you a single thing about what may have happened to it. You mad, bro? (basic attitude form S2 E5)
Yea... totally the same. Not.
Jane = survivalist
Kenny = civil
There's the choice XD
That's your opinion, because I think Clementine can bond better with her as she actually wanted a sister figure, they complete each other like yin & yang, meanwhile she's not a good match for Kenny,he always conflicted with anyone that has different idea than himself.
Yeah well, my Kenny didn't give a fuck about Clem in S1 E5 and disappeared.
Nitpicking lines,totally unbiased.Not.
Yeah, like Astovidatu said, that's a determinant response from Kenny. He can tell you to fuck off and not give a shit about Clementine, or he can show reservations about saving her because you didn't have his back every second, which is just as bad. At his best, Kenny was a hero. At his worst, Kenny was scum. That's how people work sometimes.
I'm sorry, is not analyzing character traits part of how you figure out how something is similar or different?
Those lines speak volumes about the character. Whats next? Complaining about people nitpicking actions? Tell me, how do YOU analyze something?
And it's not biased. It's factual. That is exactly what happened.
I'm relieved to see I'm not alone. Pretty sure more rational players can see that there's no right or wrong choice here but, as usual, it's the less rational who take up most of the forum space.
and is that as far you analyzed the characters? is that what you think when Jane hide the baby from Kenny? you don't even know the half of herself.
you're just comparing a character's best one to other character's worst one,I can do the same, and not to mention how irrelevant in context that two sentence are, while I analyze them exactly how the thread starter doing it,using the same level of thinking & condition.
that being said, yours was a completely bias judgment.
Well lets analyze different lines from those same characters, shall we.
Jane: You are 90% of the reason why I came back, I promise I'll never abandon you again. (basic attitude from S2E5)
Kenny: You stupid fucking kid!! (basic attitude from S2E4)
It can be done in reverse also. My point is, it's how you play the game. Both Kenny and Jane can come off as idiots, or come off as your best friend it all depends on the player's actions. Both have their flaws and it's not hard to point them out.
Yeah, pretty much. It's exactly like when we had to chose between sitting next to Kenny and Luke, and GOD in those days, if you said Luke you'd be killed XD
Ah sure, we can fight back with our own threads!
Yeah, when analysing a character we have to look at how they acted overall and pick the not determinant lines. Some of what Jane says sounds heroic and caring, and same for Kenny. It's the main message I wanted to give here, they're the same, when broken down.
Exactly. So everyone here needs to calm down :P
So true.
What most people seem to forget when they say Kenny didn't come to help Clem is that he will end up helping either way!!!
I think I'd rather be with Jane for the sake of survival. I do think she has good points about certain things. I think that Kenny needed to let go. I loved him. He was just too unstable in my opinion. In the end, my Kenny told me I did the right thing. I knew from the second Jane pulled Clem aside after Kenny went out to look for AJ that she didn't let the baby die, and that it was safe. I don't like that she was manipulative in that way, but who's to say what else would make Kenny snap and try to kill her? Or worse, Clem? I think in the end, I was happy that Jane and Clem and AJ were together. I hope we never see Bonnie, Mike, and especially Arvo again. Honestly, I didn't expect her to sink that low, to force Mike to leave Clem. And all this time, I thought maybe Arvo would come around but then he shot Clem. I couldn't believe they were willing to leave Clem too. What had she done to deserve that treatment? Nothing. She only was ever trying to help them. It sucks, but I believe there could have been worse endings. The only thing I was disappointed in was if Christa ever did make it or not, since it was unclear if she died in the beginning. I suppose she did, but who knows? Maybe Telltale will bring her back. Maybe Telltale will bring other characters that we don't know are dead or not back. It was a good game, in my opinion. Not as good as the first season, but still good.
Umm, that isn't Kenny's 'basic' attitude from series 1.
The majority of people didn't get that speech. The majority of people have to convince kenny to rescue her.
Jane always helps her too.
We can certainly give it a shot, at least!
Yeah, this is pretty much the reasoning my Clem had. If Kenny had been more stable, not just in Ep 5 but in everything leading up to it, she probably wouldn't have shot him but I think ultimately Jane is the one she is more safe being around.
I ended up looking up the alternate endings, and wow. They were all emotional in their own ways. I wouldn't have minded the alternative choices, but I'm still happy with the choice I made. I think the worst choice was to be alone in the end with just little AJ.
Only when he no longer has anything else tethering him to that boat because he got his ass kicked by the cancer patients and had the boat stolen. His major priority continues to be the boat even when he's "helping", by the way, constantly talking about catching up to Vernon and making them pay for taking it. I don't doubt he cared about Clementine to some extent, but he didn't exactly drop everything to go after her, be it his main priority or his issues with Lee.
All this Jane vs Kenny crap, should really be Clem vs them.
LUKE FOREVER
even beyond death
Yes, exactly ! And that's what the flashback was for : to remind us, with that "sometimes there's no right answer" quote from Lee, that there are no good or bad endings : just endings "taylored by how we play".
Apparently that wasn't enough, since a lot of players didn't catch the hint.
In the end, that's what it is!
LUKE FOREVER INDEED!
I KNEW he was good from day one!
I really like what you wrote here. I hope that people will read this and stop fighting about the ending.
the difference is jane don't attack people like kenny does so i think clementine and that lady in the ending can save jane from ending like kenny does because when she hugs jane she was shocked then happy and hugged her back and both clementine and jane where worried about randel's gun
I choose Jane she was the better in terms I could not just let Kenny act like a irrational Carver and actually kill someone, that was too far and dark. Its like the choosing the lesser evil, yet neither of em are
Kenny was broken and to be honest Jane was just being extremely cautious and safe
Thank you!! Man, there's less threads like this and more Jane vs Kenny threads, so don't get your hopes up!
