I've heard the same as well. However, all that shows in my choices is whether or not I've asked to leave with Mike. Never thought that there'd be a choice to shoot him though. Then again, there's a possibility that it's just a fake rumor. What do I know? Time to do some more experimentation with that episode to know for sure.

Ah, I was thinking it had to do with the update. But wait, if they updated this last minute to prevent Mike's death and not turn him into a determinant character, then that leaves some speculation that Telltale possibly has some plans for him. Just a thought though.

Yeah, but that might have been another change to the episode as well. They took Clem's jacket off after she fell in the ice so she can get warmer, maybe they left it off or you had the option to leave it off or put it back on.
It feels like a model swap cause shes not wearing the ugly jacket..

On the PS3 version of "No Going Back", it was possible for Mike to be killed through a "Shoot Mike" choice when Mike, Bonnie (Determinant) and Arvo are leaving the camp. If Clementine shoots Mike, some of the dialogue is changed. This was probably an early choice, but was cut and changed with "Ask to leave with Mike". This appears to have been patched via a hotfix

Mike was a chill dude. Obviously I don't support his actions of ditching the group, but I understand it. Arvo however pisses me off. I wish I got to shoot him. Please telltale, in season 3 I don't care if its the saddest season ever, I would be happy if I get to kill Arvo.
Just a guess, but if you go into the data file via the XMB it'll probably be under the walking dead season 2 as an update or patch.
while i'd love that, maybe they just thought arvo being alone (since bonnie is determinant) was kind of unrealistic
When it's a digital game that you downloaded off the Playstation Store, just delete the game, reinstall, but skip the update prompt. I believe updates for disk games go in Game Data Utility.
it worked for me, i deleted the game, reinstalled and now i can shoot Mike

Me and Apollo-Wright have both done it and and we can confirm it's true, we deleted the patch and were able to shoot Mike
