Season 2 DLC Episode: All endings lead to Wellington
A lot of people are wondering how on earth Season Three could focus on Clementine while simultaneously addressing all of the different endings from Season Two. This actually wouldn't be that difficult if Telltale made a DLC mini-episode (about half the length of a regular episode) that let you play through the gap between your Season Two ending and the Season Three beginning, which will presumably be in Wellington.
Some possibilities for how the episode paths would play out:
Jane + Family ending: You're living with Jane and the family in the abandoned compound for a while, but you've run out of supplies seeing as you're splitting food between six people instead of three. You constantly have to be scavenging and are starting to talk about moving on. Perhaps a walker-related struggle forces Jane's death, and maybe the mother or father's as well. Whoever remains suggests you try to drive to Wellington (a place they might be familiar with, seeing as they'd mentioned being "up north"? Maybe they were turned away the same way that Kenny and Clem are initially). The rest of the family dies on the journey to Wellington. Clem arrives with AJ and is accepted into the town.
Jane only ending: You're living with Jane in the abandoned compound pretty happily (plenty of food for just two people and a baby) but decide to figure out a plan on what to do if you need to move on, just in case. The family that you'd turned away manages to break in to the compound by force, causing a struggle with Jane that ends in both her death and the father's (he seems like the more aggressive of the parents). After running out of food and supplies split between Clem, AJ, the mother, and the son, you suggest driving north to Wellington, hoping there'd be supplies there. The mother and son die on the journey, Clem and AJ are accepted into the town.
Kenny ending: You've been roughing it for a couple of months with Kenny in the wilderness. The supplies the woman at Wellington gave you have run out and you aren't doing the greatest job of scavenging/surviving. Seeing how poorly AJ is doing, Kenny really starts pushing you to go back to Wellington, knowing that they'll accept Clem/AJ. Duck/Katjaa/Sarita/Jane are all still eating away at Kenny's conscience, and he can't handle watching himself fail Clem and AJ. You as Clem can either agree to go on your own, abandoning Kenny, or insist on staying with Kenny, at which point we see him die somehow (either he sacrifices himself protecting the kids, or overcome with guilt and depression he commits suicide or something). Clem/AJ are accepted into Wellington.
Wellington ending: If you stuck with Kenny and agreed to go into Wellington, then you're already in Wellington in this scenario! Kind of. The big draw of the Season Three premiere would be seeing what Wellington is like on the inside, so this path's mini-episode would play out as you and a new character from Wellington are outside of the wall scavenging for supplies or keeping watch for walkers or whatever. Maybe you'd come across Kenny's corpse or something? I don't know. The episode would end right before you return to Wellington.
Clem/AJ alone ending: This episode concerns Clem's struggles to survive/care for AJ on her own. She does a decent job, but is constantly on the move hunting for food for AJ. After a short series of particularly bad luck (run in with walkers/complete lack of resources), she runs into the new Wellington character on patrol and is invited to move into the town. Wanting to care for AJ, you agree (either enthusiastically or reluctantly).
Then the Season Three premiere would set you up as having been living there for a couple of months or so, with none of the baggage that would require Kenny or Jane actually appearing in-episode with dialogue and stuff. You would just occasionally hear a line referring to those endings.
What do you guys think? Maybe Telltale is already planning something like this? It seems like a possibility for a DLC episode, especially considering they already did something similarly experimental with the 400 Days DLC. The one issue is that the DLC itself would have to be a pretty sizable production undertaking, considering it would be as large as two-and-a-half regular episodes, just so the audience can experience a mini-episode that's tailored to their Season Two ending. However, if executed properly, I think it could be a cool experience.

Pretty cool idea, thinking about it going in to S3, I don't see any other way they can begin the season with everybody on the same footing, without doing a DLC like this.
One alternative I can only imagine is they start S3 with a new main protagonist/s, that go on to meet Clem, etc
Right--simply starting season three with a new player character, moving the timeline forward several months, and then meeting Clem as she only refers to the season two ending with dialogue would definitely be the quickest solution of dealing with all of the different threads. I think (and hope!) the audience is now attached to playing as Clementine enough that Telltale would consider something like a DLC episode to bridge the gap between S2 and S3.
I think the problem with your idea is that if the player chose Wellington, they get extra development of that place, which would lead to uneven pacing in the next season. I came up with a different idea yesterday. My idea was that she ends up with the a new group of survivors with all five endings.
**Wellington: **
Early in the first episode Clementine is depressed, feeling the guilt of living in (comparatively speaking) paradise, and wishes to leave and help others in need. Or maybe Wellington isn't such a good place after all and needs to evict people in order to adequately cope with food rationing. Either way, Clementine volunteers to leave, convincing them that her and Alvin Jr could have a better life someplace else. They could even force Clementine to leave or not allow her to take Alvin Jr. She sets out and finds new survivors.
Alone with Kenny: Kenny could fall ill early in the first episode, and forces Clementine to go on ahead and leave him, as they have been travelling for days and don't have any food left. This would also work as his ultimate sacrifice just like if the player had chosen the Wellington ending for season 2. Kenny wishes that she and Alvin Jr will survive, and this would be a very emotional scene as she reluctantly sets out on her own with Alvin Jr and finds new survivors.
**Alone with Jane: **
Their relationship breaks down as they are low on food, and Jane has lost all hope. Clementine could wake up one day and not see Jane (and maybe Alvin Jr too), so she is forced to go off on her own and find new survivors. Or Clementine herself could tell Jane that, as the situation is so desperate, it’s best for them to part their ways in the hopes that at least one of them would survive. Clem could leave with Alvin Jr and finds new survivors.
**Jane and the family: **
Again, they are both low on food, and Jane could kidnap Clementine and Alvin Jr and drive off without the family in the middle of the night. Clementine forces Jane to crash or could even kill her, and runs off with Alvin Jr to find a new batch of survivors.
Alone: Well, this one’s obviously the simplest. She finds new survivors. Maybe before she finds the new survivors, there could be a scene whereby the baby dies due to really bad weather. I’m just trying to be consistent with the other endings in that there could be a way for Alvin Jr to be left out of the season, with Clem having to overcome that regret as the episodes progress.
I think it'll either be someone new or a big time skip at the start of season 3. Wellington etc will all be a distinct memory for Clem.
In Jane's ending I think that the guy in the family will end up killing Jane weather you invite the family in or not.
Even though Wellington gives out handouts they could just be keeping tabs on people making sure that they live so that they can hunt them and use them as food or slaves later on if they need more. If Wellington is gathering slaves/cattle I think they'll go down south for more people and force Clem back to Wellington.
Isnt Wellington the place from TV show, that gets destroyed by Rick?
The way I see it this happens:
-Family turns against Jane and Clem. Jane dies and Clem is forced to flee with AJ. She sets out to Wellington only to find it burned to the ground and overwhelmed by Walkers.
-Family attacks after being turned away. Jane is killed in the attack, Clem has to run away with AJ. The rest is same as above
-Lonely clem sets out, and after months of wandering she comes across Wellington ruins. Same as in opening post
-Few months later Kenny is admitted into Wellington, but dies in the attack defending it. Clem and AJ are forced to flee
-Same as above.
But more probably we get new characters, new location and new story. I think Clem has got her closure.
With regard to pacing, not necessarily. If you read my idea for how a Wellington ending would go, it would all take place outside of Wellington with Clementine only having been there a short time, and then Season Three would begin at least a few months after Clementine has already arrived.
If there is a DLC it could be Christa' story (if) she made it out of her situation,
She could track down Clem at Howes and they make their way towards Wellington (or the area around),
Or, vice versa & Christa' gets to Wellington while/during shit is going down there and they end up leaving together.
Good idea OP!
These are all pretty good possibilities as well
Guys, a DLC is literally "downloadable content." Its an extra part of the story you can play to enjoy the game a bit more, but they are never a necessary addition to the story. They would never make a DLC something as important as this. This idea should be more along the lines of what should happen in s3 ep1
I agree. I'm not saying I wouldn't buy a season 3 sans Clementine... But I'm more attached to Clem than I have ever been to any character in my 18 years.
Just realised the formatting for my comment is completely broken. Dunno how to fix it.
I re-read your idea and it does sound like it could work. It all depends on its execution, and I have faith in Telltale that they'll find a way to make Clementine the protagonist for season 3.
I don't think it would be totally crazy for them to do something like this as DLC. It would be a brief Season Two epilogue/Season Three prologue that would ensure everyone who played Season Three started off at the same place and time. It's not an absolutely necessary story hole for them to fill in, but it would definitely be nice.
Besides, if Telltale were to address the discrepancies in Season Two endings with merely a couple of lines of dialogue at the beginning of Season Three, I think a lot of players would be disappointed that their choices didn't have more of an impact on the game. Likewise, trying to follow all of these story threads with a full-length Season Three episode is probably asking for way too much in terms of production resources.
If I'm being honest, I doubt Telltale will actually make a Clementine-focused DLC episode like the one I proposed, but I do think it would be a worthwhile experiment that could satisfy the fans before the inevitable Season Three "reset".
I kinda wanna see the russian's side of the story
Nate DLC please. Let us play as a villain for once. And give use double evil choices where theres no option for good.
If we can't see understand why they're evil, why would we want to play as them? My point is if you have 2 evil options, how is that even giving the player a choice?
By evil options I dont mean actually evil stuff. I mean like doing stuff that would risk someone's life during a conversation like for example if Nate was playable during 400 days having the option to stop the car and roll down the window to let a walker mess with the passenger or something else lesser that teases the passenger in another way.
It ask the player what would you rather see this crazy guy do?
I would love a dark and nasty Nate DLC.
Madness, looting, death, chaos, drinking...and FRIENDSHIP!
Hell, maybe he'll find Bonnie, Mike and Arvo and have some fun with them?
Nope

I was thinking something along similar lines. At least, a DLC where each ending has a path that leads to the same start point for Season 3. They'd have to do this in a way where they don't just negate all these endings, though, for it not to feel cheap. So they should keep Kenny and Jane alive.
In the Mass Effect series, you make a choice between two important characters in the first game. The survivor has a minor role in the next game, but has a prominent role in Mass Effect 3. There's another person who may or may not die in the first game that has substantial roles in the next games. They were able to do justice to their characters, too. In addition, a number of characters can die in Mass Effect 2 depending on your choices, and quite a few of them play mass roles in the next game regardless. Certain scenarios even play out differently with or without certain characters. My point is, for such an important decision as Kenny and Jane was, if they play it right, they can keep both around without having to dramatically alter the entire season. If they focus just on The Walking Dead next season it should be doable.
Good idea, they're still interesting imo
I would like that very much.
OMFG I love that idea even more. TTG needs to give you a medal and a cookie.
I don't think there'd need to be a DLC, only because Clem and Alvin Jr. are alive and together no matter which ending you pick. The story can start with Clem and AJ in Wellington, on their own or with new adults (since Kenny and Jane are determinant, neither can be there, or there'll have to be an Omid-style death for them at the very beginning).
All that can be accomplished with a minimum of extra programming. I have a feeling that if we get a DLC it's going to be a different group, maybe a flashback to when Wellington started.
I had literally the same exact idea Huckleberry, glad I'm not the only one who thought of it XD
Woodbury?
The DLC could be based on Mike. I mean everyone kinda liked him for a while up until S2ep5 and now the the majority of people want his head. I wouldn't put it past telltalegames to throw a red herring like that in there and make you cheer for this guy again by the end of the episode.
Btw - have telltale announced that they will release a DLC for S2?
nope but what about Hilltop ? the walls are looking similar i think it's hilltop comunity
Wouldn't it feel a little cheap if everyone's ending was consolidated into the main path simply through dialogue, though?
SEASON 3 BEGINS
Wellington Character: I'm glad you found your way here when you did, Clem, you were in pretty bad shape.
Clem: Yup.
Wellington Character: I'm sorry we couldn't save the guy/girl you were with, we have a very strict policy about people who are bitten.
Clem: Yup.
Telltale went through the trouble of giving everyone tailored endings--it would feel like a shame to neutralize them so swiftly when they inevitably have to synchronize everyone's Clementine at the same Season Three start point. All that extra programming effort would be worth it if it made every player feel as if their choice had a profound impact on the story.
I noticed a couple of people on the board had the same idea!
As I've said before, I doubt it'll happen, but I certainly think it would be a satisfying to deal with all of the ending threads before Season Three begins.
No, not to my knowledge. This thread is 110% fan ideas.
I mean, the only official confirmation we have about anything is that a Season Three of The Walking Dead will exist. We don't even really know if Clementine will be the player character next time around or not.
I think I see what you mean, but I don't think there's any appeal in playing as a crazy person. The only way it would work would be if there are long scenes which go deep into his psychology to portray him sympathetically. Otherwise we'd just be playing as a cartoon character, which is the exact opposite of the appeal of Lee or Clementine
Rather them do something like this, Then another pointless 400 days type of dlc..
to me any major splinting of the storyline seems totally unlikely and uncharacteristic for telltale.
someone capturing survivors left and right and getting clem wherever she went sounds possible and a nice way to bring clem together with a familiar character. possible mike (and co). so you get to see a little consequence of your actions in season 2. (maybe a 400 day's character, if taletale feels ashamed for screwing us with that special episode) but the story will likely immediately blend together (bonny, 400 days character die) with nothing but minor dialog alteration. A possible explanation why they suddenly kept mike alive and did not give you the option to shoot arvo.
they could also just make a bigger time jump giving clementine the chance to step in lee's shoes and become a mentor for not so little alvin. i can't really imagine clementine draging a baby around all season and just killing it seems to make season 2's ending a little pointless. although it would fit telltales well known cruelly.
it would be nice if we would get in this season's special episode 5 characters with 5 different stories. and in each of them clem could appear depending on your ending.
Is rather they kept Kenny and Jane around , the only way that will work is if they give us a third chracater if you went on your own. That way they could stick around as there has to be someone in certain scenes
Hmm they do look similar. The only problem is Wellington is supposedly in Ohio and Hilltop Colony is in Virgina.
I could be wrong though since this is from the wiki.
Ik right? I really wanted to see what they went through up till they died. I hated how they were all cannon fodder except for arvo
Yeah. Good Telltale made them sympathetic though, not drug carzy bandit, not that those aren't around but we've seen lots of them
