  • Shawn was one person. That's one mistake. How's that a habit? And before you say he leaves Lee to die that's only if you play that way. Kenny leaving Shawn happens no matter what. So that's all I'm considering. Things the player can't change. Kenny doesn't leave anyone else to die. Larry, in that situation, was a dead man. I was all about smashing his head. So that doesn't count with me either. So from my point of view Kenny leaves one person and that was to get his son clear. Something I can't really hold against him. Then there's the screaming woman that's getting attacked. We left her together. She was already dead and people I cared about needed meds. Survival situation. People don't have to like Kenny but most of their dislike is based off of how they play. And that's cool because that's what this game is all about. Choice. But if you remove player choice, Kenny is a guy with a slight temper that will fight and die for his friends and family. In my book that's an honorable man. Flaws and all.

You forgot Shawn from episode 1. Its true, everyone has done the same horrible things to some degree. Kenny has made a habit of leaving people to die but it seems people forget that.

  • He tried to murder Jane tho!!!!!!!11111ONE!!!1111!!! And he yelled at Clem that one time for no reason at all!!!11!!!1!1!!!

Kenny is a good guy. For me he and Clem are the soul of Walking Dead.

  • Kenny was developed really good in the first season and that popularity has carried over into the second season where no one is written that well. Kenny was by far the most complex character developed in season one as well. Lee and Clementine were great characters, but they were pretty much universally liked from the beginning where as Kenny got on a lot of people's nerves at times even if it was just trivial stuff looking back on it. Lee and Kenny's friendship came off as very realistic for a game in how it didn't turn their relationship into the clichéd best friends crap you see in a lot of games. They are written to have very different personalities, but by the end you realize that they are driven by the same noble morality of taking care of the weakest and most innocent of society and aren't afraid to sacrifice themselves upholding those convictions.

They basically abandoned that theme in season two and it really turned off a large portion of fans returning from season one. They seem to have realized that and tried to make some changes, but they didn't have much to work with. A large portion of season one's fans loved the game for the realism of the characters, and because they could identify with the noble motivations of Lee and Kenny doing everything they could to take care of the kids. Lee and Kenny had plenty of flaws, but they wouldn't have locked a kid in a shed or left a baby to die because it was hard to take care of. They make it clear they have no desire to live in a world like that and would rather die than living that kind of life. When you have a bunch of characters who's actions are complete contradiction's to what made a lot of people fans of the series to begin with it's not that hard to understand why Kenny is so popular. He was the only character a lot of people could identify with this season, and in season one every other likable character was under developed compared to Kenny.

  • Because hes fucking kenny, Kenny is love kenny is life

  • Wow, slight temper?! Fine, none of those people may count to you but they count to me, most especially playing as Lee and having Kenny try to walk away and leave me to die, and refusing to help find Clem, effectively abandoning her to the stranger. I consider that a habit of Kenny not going out of his way to help anyone when he can see to his own interests first. And of course it's based on how you play. What else is there? My experience is of Kenny being a dick to me and acting like a maniac. I don't know what yours is if you think Kenny only has a light temper.

While you don't get why Kenny is so popular, I can't understand why he gets so much hate. He's a good guy who makes mistakes and has lost pretty much everyone in his life. But does anything to protect people he cares about and can even give up his life for them to be safe. So why hate someone like him?

  • It's not what he is that makes him popular, but what he does that defines it. He does something everyone on this damn forum should respect, something we'd all do if given the chance. We'd all put ourselves at risk to make sure Clem is safe, we'd all abandon ourselves into loneliness if it meant Clem would be safe from the walkers and the bandits. How could anyone dislike him after that?

I like Kenny cause he's strong, both physically and mentally, the core of his being was intact.
    He's hardworking.
    He's loyal, to the end.
And he actually cares about others.
Unlike Lilly and Larry, Kenny will still try to help and protect others, even at great personal risk and cost.
Which I think were brilliantly shown when he took that beating for Clementine in S2, Ep 3.
And when he pleaded that Clementine and the baby be allowed to stay in Wellington, even if that meant he'd never see them again.

You asked me why I like Kenny.
    That's my answer.

  • Well no duh it wasnt in your playthrough. You didnt even listen to him explain himself you just shot him. Watch it on youtube.

  • Kenny he evolved from god to a titan in my list, i hated him most of the episode but, what he said to Clem, what he risked for Clem, he accepted he was wrong all the time, to me that means everything, Kenny accepted he is broken and all, I'm with Kenny he was the only character that made me cry in the whole ep, even though in my main file I decided to go with Jane. I'm starting season 3 with him,

  • I agree, Kenny is one the most "human" characters in the game.

People like Kenny because a loyal guy and his intentions are good. If you picked his ending you saw his true colors without his PTSD kicking

  • kenny is loyal.

I like Kenny because Kenny was with Lee most of the time and decided to help him find Clem. He didn't care about Lee getting bit. He helped him as if he wasn't bit. He was also the one that took the beating when Carver was asking for the walkie talkie. Clementine was about to confess but Kenny intervened instead. He's also one of the most realistic one if it was in a real life situation by not trusting Arvo. They wouldn't have met Arvo and his russian group if they listened to Kenny by leaving right away.

  • Considering that most shot Kenny dead....

  • I agree.
Kenny made season 2 for me as well.

Kenny has his faults, but he is STILL a good man.
He bit Clementine's head off, but he did the right thing and apologized.
And I have to admit, Kenny's heartfelt affection for Clementine was truly heartwarming.
I remember when I first met Kenny in season 1, I just couldn't help but like him.

And I also agree, Kenny's voice actor: Gavin Hamon, did a fantastic job!
    He's got some serious talent!

Having gone through some very hard times in my life, I can deeply empathize with Kenny, his grief, and his constant anger.
After losing a couple of individuals that were very close to me, I was in a deep state of grief, and as a result I was very angry for along time.
The slightest thing would set me off into a fowl-mouthed rage!

I can also relate to Kenny's stubbornness.
I am also, to use Kenny's words: "As stubborn as a damn mule."
Especially when I've made my mind up about something.
So as you can tell, I relate quite a bit to Kenny's character.

But I can also relate Kenny's good points.
I strive to be loyal to people.
I will apologize when I'm wrong.
And, like Kenny, I have a soft-spot for kids.
I hate to see people, especially women and kids being mistreated, and when I do see it, it makes every nerve in my body tremble in a rage, towards the person who's mistreating them.

I like Kenny because he's problematic, emotional, irrational. Because he's...human. For me, he's the one that got me immersed in the worl

  • God knows. He literally helped Clementine once across both seasons.

  • Because we knew him from the start. There's no way in knowing how people would've felt about Kenny if he wasn't in Season 1 and just appeared in season 2 as a new character, but knowing what he's been through first hand, this makes Kenny more popular than characters like Jane and Luke.

  • I wouldn't say that, honestly. He caused plenty of deaths.

  • Yes they were overcrowded, but I do not think they were especially 'low' on supplies. Think of the number of people heading to Wellington. They give out a bag of supplies to each group. The same type of bags found at Arvos camp. The two bags would have lasted around a week for their group. They are giving away 3-4 days food to groups. I hardly think they would be low of supplies and giving up that much food/supplies.

  • Well you know....he's the longest surviving non playable character

  • At least it showed realism and how bad the world has gotten for them... too many heroic deaths makes it feel unrealistic in my opinion.

  • You bring up some great points man. I still don't know who I really should chose. I shot kenny first time round cause I thought AJ was dead and I knew he couldn't suffer anymore (ik I'm stupid for thinking the baby was dead).

  • Don't worry bro, i thought the baby was dead too. Wasn't really paying attention to Jane when she said "Trust me please" but still sided with Kenny. Actually thought Jane stabbed the baby

  • Found this from another poster, which is appropriate here.

  • Kenny was a loose cannon and flawed in more ways than I can count but he was still a better person than all of the other characters introduced in Season 2. Many if the others had more charm and easier to like on the surface but most were scumbags. Kenny needed support sometimes to make the best decisions and the others in the group never thought to give him that support. I killed Kenny but not to save Jane. I felt it was time for him to go and be with his family. I left Jane behind. She was too manipulative. Kenny could never replace Lee but he was the second best option out of both seasons. He may have been a jerk but Kenny would rip someone in half with his hands to protect the children and I can't say that about any of the other new characters.

  • Because he was loyal, brave and didn't have any motives apart from protecting his family. He got the truck fixed, he delivered a freaking baby, he held his shit together after losing EVERYTHING apart from Clementine and AJ. Im sorry but if you start mocking someone with their dead family and then pretend to kill one of the two things he cares about, you deserved to get stabbed.

  • Because people like siding with a redneck that makes rash decisions based on emotion, gets people killed and doesnt think things through.

As I enjoy logical decisions and a calm calculating demeanor, I side with Jane. (:

  • Well said.

  • As far as the mention of Kenny killing Larry, it was the right call. I'm a nice guy and I would have done the same thing. It would have been pretty unlikely for Lilly to bring him back and Larry may have killed all of them considering his size. Lee mentioned that sometimes there isn't a right answer and that applies to Kenny. His decisions may be a little shady at times but his motivations are generally in the right place unlike most of the other characters. Kenny is the kind of guy who can get you through a zombie apocalypse. Most of the others are the kinds of people who get you killed. Kenny's suspicions about people are usually pretty close to accurate too.
