Did anyone else change their ending?

The first time I played No Going Back, I initially made the decision to shoot Kenny. It felt like the right thing to do at the time, and I was ultimately satisfied with the end of his character arc and my ending. Because I wanted to see how it all played out from the other side, I rewound to the fight and let Kenny kill Jane. To my surprise, I liked the endings where Kenny survives a lot more, and they even managed to elicit the emotional response from me that I didn't find in the other endings. Did anyone else change their ending?

  • Nope, I'm staying with Jane, Randy Patricia, Gill and AJ.

I assume we get to keep our safefiles for Season 3.
So I didn't change my original ending. It will be the savegame I'll import first into S3 but I made a second file with another ending I'll play after :)

  • No. My first Clem shot Kenny; she knew he had gone off the deep end when he killed Carver like that. A bullet to the head instead of the knees would have sufficed; he took it too far, and they needed all the time they could get. The beat-down wasn't necessary. She would have taken any chance to get away from Kenny, but if Luke had lived, he would have been her first choice.

My (relatively) Silent!Clem didn't shoot. She couldn't pull the trigger and then her and Kenny went to Wellington and she stayed behind to live there. While it punched me in the gut with feelings, it's still not my favourite ending. Jane's is.

Finally, my meaner Clem looked away and then shot Kenny. She now walks a lonely road, the only one that she has ever known. Except I don't think she's been that way anyway so oops.

    But yeah, no, I didn't change my ending for any of them. It didn't feel right for my first Clem to NOT shoot Kenny, it's what my first Lee would have done in that situation. I was also worried if Clem had lost AJ, he'd go apeshit on her, too. The only time I rewinded was to see if I could save Luke. ;-;

I like my ending with Jane and the family! <3

  • Nope. Left Wellington with Kenny and AJ and couldn't be happier.

Then again, it explains Kenny in away. A short, but deadly outburst. Then lifetime of regret.

  • Jane is a very likeable character. I love that brutally honest side of her. Plus, she is one skilled survivor. But what she did to prove a point was incredibly uncalled for.

To add to what Kenny has already gone through, she decides to forge a story in order to forcefully push Kenny to his boiling point, and to trick Clementine into seeing how 'far gone' he is, to fulfill her plan to choose her instead of him.

I won't sugarcoat it, Kenny did turn dangerous. (Who the hell can blame him? According to him, he's lost everything, one by one) Yet if Jane hadn't have pulled that stunt, who knows how things would've turned out. She was the one who created that final straw that made Kenny see red. All so she can have that precious reminder of her lost sister by her side.

In this case, Clem was right
    "You're both losing it".

  • If Jane really losed the baby, we let Kenny just killed her for a mistake?

Yeah, it was a trick, but if it was true? That's what Jane want to show to Clem

  • I didn't and I don't plan on it. My Clem ended up alone with AJ and I don't regret it. My Clem just wanted to be as far away as possible from those crazy fucks. The only person from episode 5 I would go with anywhere was Luke. Everyone else was crazy.

  • It fit my meaner Clem. I based my Clem's off my Lee's, and her Lee killed Larry and both of the St John brothers. (Also Jolene, but she didn't see that. Couldn't drop Ben though, he's my baby. Couldn't kill The Stranger either, but I think I ended up hitting W instead of Q like halfway through oops.)

The way she saw it, she was getting rid of two people she didn't trust or was scared of. She didn't want either of them somehow getting her killed.

    This.

The point is that Jane is trying to show what would happen if Clem ACTUALLY lost the baby. Kenny would go fucking ballistic, and Clem could well be in danger.

He would be 10x angrier than when he lost Sarita.

Oh yea. No regrets at all.

I was mad at Jane, but she just need a good smack across the face. That was all.

No regrets in shooting Kenny. He called Clementine a stupid fucking kid. And "this one is on your head, Clementine!"

No. That moment. I knew. I knew. Even if he was sorry, I knew he wouldn't be able to stop himself. I knew, I had to go with someone else. No more Kenny. No more Boat. Yes with Jane. Well, I was preparing for Luke..

  • Yep, I changed. In first try I killed Kenny and went with Jane on south not forgiving her for what she done (just waited until time for answer gone). That family was mystery for me, so I didn't let them inside and they leave. I tried again but instead of killing Kenny I just look away. I went with him to Wellington, and stay with him when Edith don't allow us to go through.

  • i did the sensible thing and put kenny out of his misery, to go with jane, keeping my options when it comes to groups open and did not regret a moment. it was the only ending that did not left a bitter taste.

i had to do the ending in my second playthrough as saint clementine, the little naive girl again.
i managed to look away at first but just could not stop myself from shooting him after. i was planing for a happy ending in wellington. but thought to myself a little drama on another journey with kenny as naive little girl would be far more interesting for the next seasons opening.

  • Oh... I will try it then xD

    Thanks anyway :)

  • No. My first and only ending is leaving Wellington with Kenny, and my reason for doing so is after all we've been through, I feel like trust is really important, and if you find someone you can trust, keep them around. Kenny has been the only person who, although has his rough moments and lashes out from time to time, has never truly let me down, betrayed me or anything like that. I feel like his heart is in the right place, whereas I can't really say the same for Jane.

I do have my regrets though - I still don't now exactly what to make of Kenny's mental condition. I still expect him to fly off the handle and go nuts from time to time, when things don't go his way, and that could be dangerous. But on the other hand, there's no one around to piss him off anymore, if we don't run into any more assholes. After all the crazy people we've met, it may be wisest to go alone with AJ. Clem has proven enough times that she can handle herself perfectly fine. She lacks a little in the physical strength department, but I'm still confident that she can take care of herself and raise AJ well enough.

I don't think I will change my ending, though.

  • I got the Wellington ending but when I replay it I will go for alone with AJ. While maybe not best for her or the baby, it at least shows to me that she will not put up with people with inner demons.

  • You three have made great points, but I just can't subscribe to it.

As he's demonstrated numerous times, Kenny considers Clementine family, and I think we all know that Kenny would sacrifice anything and everything for his family. (Which he proved in one of the endings).
If Kenny thought Jane killed Clem I can bet my soul he would've reacted the same way.

Would Jane do that for Clem? I'm not sure. Her no-nonsense survival trait can also be considered a weakness. I just don't think Jane has that attachment with Clementine. And I don't think she'd risk her life for her.

It's true, Kenny has said things to Clem that he regrets. And even he understands how dangerous he's becoming. (As he also clearly demonstrated in one of the endings).

My point being, Jane's plan was much more selfish than it seemed.

I love the gal, but I just love Kenny more.

  • I choose to shoot Kenny and left Jane by herself.

I regret my decision every second because I feel I got played by Jane.

Also all Lee ever did for Clem was try to help he work with groups to be safe together. I feel Clem and AJ alone put them in a bad situation with no friends to rely on.

    I agree. She didn't.

I could say the same for Kenny. Mistakes and harsh words will not convince me that he should be punished by death. Yet, TellTale gave me no choice. One had to die, and I had to choose. I chose Jane for my reason, others chose Kenny for their reasons.

  • Nope, I feel as though changing decisions during an episode or at the end of No Going Back kinda breaks your story, if you know what I mean.
