Please don't Make Clem the Protagonist of Season 3! I'd Appreciate Feedback and Opinions from Y'all
The Main Point of this post is: I'm tired of Seeing Clementine Suffer with losing everyone in both seasons.
Before I get the large amount of hate I'm sure this'll generate... I have to get some stuff out...
If you haven't played Season 1, then you've obviously already been spoiled to what happens in it if you're on the forums, so there's my brief warning.
I'm currently replaying both Seasons of the Walking Dead, and just finished beating Season 1 for only the second time ever. The first time I played it, I asked Clem to shoot my Lee, and didn't cry. I felt resolute and hoped my Clem was strong. This time, I was balling like a baby and had her choose for herself, and she left me and let me reanimate. For someone reason, this ending made me lose it.... I think it was wonderful that the girl we tried so hard to protect was able to go off of everything we taught her and make her own decision in the end.
After playing it all again, you kinda begin to see just how important the tones of family and closeness there is between people in the apocalypse. Saying that, I don't know what exactly it takes to make Clem choose to shoot you in the end, but I will say I don't think Lee was that kind of man to make a little girl that hardened that she'd choose to shoot the man who looked after her. Essentially the closest thing to family she had left.
In Season 1 we were able to play as Lee Everett, a man whom was a convicted murderer. In my opinion, a GOOD man who did a BAD thing. Immediately we met Clementine, a young girl who more than likely would've died with Lee finding her. We ultimately get to basically raise her through the apocalypse, and we felt a strong attachment to her. Lee felt a strong sense of responsibility for her, it's evident without the player constantly stating dialogue to reaffirm this. Everyone looked up to Lee, Kenny even tells us he thinks Lee is the smartest man out of the group in EP. 5.
In Season 2, we were able to further develop the story by taking the reigns as Clementine. We were able to essentially become Lee again. Except, this time we were the character whom Lee died trying to protect and save. Our attachment to Clementine has grown only stronger from the moment we met her. And yes, while it was annoying playing as an 11 year old girl, that's exactly what made us so attached to her. She's someone we've seen from day one, been with through the whole series and gone through hell with.
In Season 1, we lose almost everyone. In Season 2, we also lose almost everyone, and can actually lose everyone if we so choose.
My point being, I can't handle this again. I can't handle seeing Clementine going through a whole nother season of losing EVERYONE. As much as we love her, I believe TellTale can make Season 3 without her and make it just as good as Season 1. I actually don't think I will be able to emotionally handle another Season with Clem as the protagonist. I honestly believe Clem's story has run it's course, and with the multiple endings we were able to find the closure we felt most happy/satisfied with in Season 2 with her story.
Season 1 and 2 have no right ending choice. All we could do in both cases of the endings of Season 1 and Season 2, was just go with what made us feel most satisfied. We could argue what was morally right or wrong, and everyone has their own value systems, so we were able to choose ultimately how it ended and how we would react.
And there's no way to feel happy at the end of Season 1. You can find solace in the ending of Season 1 by assuming the two figures are Omid and Christa, otherwise we feel very uneasy and wanting to know more. But, in the end of Season 2, I can honestly say, I was able to feel happy. I smiled and felt content. Season 1 came nowhere close to that feeling. But Season 2 did.
Point is, how much more can we make our Clementine go through? If both Kenny and Jane are determinant, it's only a matter of time until Clem loses them too. Then what? She meets more people, like Luke and the Cabin group, and then what? Loses them too? I can't fucking handle it anymore. I know it's just a video game, but seriously!? Clem will become numb, or lose it. I don't doubt her strength, but if we go on like this, as Clem we can only look at people we meet in Season 3 as eventual deaths.
And I don't know about y'all, but if my Clem loses Kenny or AJ, just fuck it. I won't play anymore. And for those who have Jane and AJ and she dies or they both do, what's the flippin point?
I think we can only make Clementine go through so much before we can only actually play as a hollowed, cynical little girl. And with the endings of Season 2, we could BE Happy. Whoever we with, I feel like we could get a better sense of closure!
So please TellTale, don't make Clem the Season 3 protagonist! Or at least don't let Kenny and Jane be our stereotypical determinant deaths! I love Clem, but I just couldn't handle a Season 3 with her that only ends the same as Season 1 and Season 2, with EVERYONE gone...
Okay, I'm gonna go cry some more about Season 1 and Season 2 ....
Comments
Telltale hinted she will return in Season 3.
I agree please don't make her season 3 protagonist. I'd rather her story end now happy and not continue and end sadly.
Clem as main or GTFO
Like full on protagonist or smaller role like a cameo appearance?
We dont know
NoClemNoBuy
I understand people love Clementine, but saying noclemnobuy......
Exactly. I will gladly leave with this ending for my Clem and never look back.
I don't mind if Clem is the protagonist again in Season 3, but I would prefer if we get a new protagonist. It would give us a fresh start with a new cast of characters and a whole new story to invest ourselves in.
I personally am kidding, but this guys says if Kenny and AJ die he wont play anymore... so its the same thing pretty much. I will still play if there is no Clementine, id be mad because theres still a ton they can do with her and twdg would have a big chunk missing without Clem.
Fine, I'm taking my Clem, AJ and Kenny ...
Hollay dont play twd if you dont want to cry
even of theres new characters youll still cry
I don't mind if Clementine isn't protagonist of S3, but I would still like to see her again.
It's actually kind of hard seeing her and Kenny go.
Brings a tear to my eye. ![:'( :'(](https://community.telltale.com/resources/emoji/cry.png)
Exactly. Clem's story is leaving me emotional exhausted. I don't want to play a game that's only going to make me cry. I love Clem, but I think we should move on and explore.
Who are you referring to? Me or?
But I want Clementine, I feel as her story isn't finished and I want to see a teenage version of Clem hardcore survivalist ( Just like Jane ).
(If you're referring to me, I'm a woman) It's not because I don't care about my Clementine, it's just because I honestly feel so attached to my ending I don't want to let it be ruined by seeing Kenny or AJ killed off immediately or at some point on down the line.
What the fuck? So S2 cast were all new?
Also if you watch and didnt buy twd, shut the hell up. You do not support ttg so keep your opinions to yourselves.
With everything being so determinate this last season I'd rather it didn't all get railroaded for the next. They should make a tangential storyline. At most maybe have Clem mentioned once or twice or pop in for a scene. Anything more cheapens what went down.
I said it once and I gladly say it again. The Telltales TWD is all about Clem it has been in Season 1 and in Season 2. It would make no sense whatsoever to change that now.
ughhhhh....
Well, loving Clem so much as I do, I would rather she come back as protagonist again.
Lol wow yeah, it was only meant for the lp viewers. My bad.
Stop being intolerant of others opinions please....
I don't understand why people say playing as an 11 year old girl is.... annoying ? What is it that makes it so annoying ? Sure, the gameplay is somewhat limited, because unlike in S1 where you play as a 37 year old man and you get to knife, axe, shoot, punch, choke and impale zombies, you can't do that with an 11 year old, but doesn't anyone remember the shed scene where you patch your arm ? The best gameplay moment in S1 for me was in ep4 where you climb those stairs, then your leg gets stuck, you have to shoot zombies and shit... I thought nothing could beat that... Well, that shed scene beat it. at least IMO
For the protagonist thing, well, I just can't imagine it, a season of not playing as Clem, but knowing that she's alive. It hurt me when Lee died and it hurt me when Kenny was telling me to go to Wellington, but like Luke said : "If Clem can take it, you can too !"
The walking dead universe is a world of pain and misery, with just a little bit of happy moments, that shortly after get interrupted by PAIN AND MISERY We saw that with the lodge scene in ep 2, and with the fireplace scene in ep 5 of S2. It's a harsh world where people constantly die, and death is an everyday thing. Hell, even in our world death is an everyday thing, it just doesn't happen around us as much as it happens around Clem and people in her world. I don't think they should "give up" on Clem, just so that Kenny/Jane can stay alive, and I will be very sad if Clem isn't the protagonist of S3
I'm being tolerant to those who deserve it. Basically those who PAYED for the series.
What post in here made it seem that anyone had just watched and not paid?
None, i was just saying.
What about;

OFFTOPIC
The years have been cruel to Hal from Malcolm in the middle =P
I just don't see the point of calling it season 3 if its not going to continue what they built up this far. Might as well do season 2 of Wolf Among Us without Bigby..... Doesn't make sense to me.
My friend, I salute your powers of logic
Just dont know what I want. Clem's become the center of the walking dead. Starting with another character and new people would be awkward. I want to continue with Clem, but at the same time I know that it will be tough emotionally....
A wolf among us season 2 literally wouldn't make sensee without Bigby because the game is called wolf among us. But, the walking dead is so much more than Clementine. It's called the walking dead not the walking Clementine.
After playing it on my 360, they need to rename is the Lagging Dead.
Everyone else dies. The end. Give me one reason to get interested in anything outside of Clementine? The show doesn't interest me and I can't be bothered to check out the comics. Zombies are getting old so the premise alone isn't enough. What the set up with Clementine is all that really matters anymore. Why get attached to Clem at all if they're just going to remove her now?
XD that's so true. Sometimes I hate playing on Xbox.
