A DLC starring Mike

edited September 2014 in The Walking Dead

Was thinking about this earlier and thought I'd use this as an outlet for my thoughts and see what people think.

Before you raise your pitchforks and ignite your torches, hear me out!

This DLC could take place immediately after Mike, Bonnie and Arvo ditched Clem and co. and its primary theme would be Mike's personal conflict having essentially left Clementine for dead. As has been said before, he isn't an incredibly developed character and so the player would have a nice amount of room for tailoring his dialogue choices and general attitude.

We'd be given the satisfying opportunity of exercising vengeance upon Arvo (or not) and we'd actually be able to find out what the trio were doing while Kenny and Jane were going at it... Did they ever find Wellington? Did they retreat south?

Just a little idea. I haven't exactly fleshed out an entire storyline, but there 'ya go.

  • I guess that would be cool.

  • If it happens, there better be some non cannon dea- fuck it just give me a cannon Mike death pl0x.

  • Mike going on a massive guilt-trip would flesh him out more and perhaps we'd get the opportunity to redeem him. He could leave Bonnie (or not) and go after Clementine, maybe?

  • An option to shoot up Arvo and Bonnie and then commit suicide would be ideal.

    Yes.

  • As long as it has some clever references and links to Season 2 then I'll be happy. :P

This seems like an interesting idea! But I honestly just hope that, if there is DLC, it won't be a prequel.

    There would have to be a pretty dang good reason for me to sympathize with him after;

    • Giving a bigger crap that poor wittle Arvo was bruised than that Clementine was freezing.
    • Going to check on Arvo while Clem was passed out on the floor.
    • Telling Bonnie in my game to leave Clem to die after his little weasel friend shot her.

As Joel would put it "TellTale would be treading on some mighty thin ice" if they made Mike a playable character. He's received almost more hate than Troy did after the IHW trailer.

  • I'm not sure, Mike's personality has actually been set, a guy who emphasizes with people who are being treated poorly, and he'll try to help. Him suddenly beating on Arvo in the exact way Kenny, or similar to, would be out of character.

  • I'd boat it.

  • Yeah, true, and I don't necessarily think that'd be a viable option. I do think it would be within his character to give Arvo a damn good talking to, though, and abandoning him.

  • I don't hate Mike. In my playthrough, he seemed
genuinely sad when my Clem got shot and that
made his betrayal more bearable to me.

I would love a Mike DLC. He's cool.

  • I hope they explain his ear one day.

  • That's a good point, actually... I wonder why Telltale never bothered to touch on that little detail...

  • Hell, I'm up for that. :)

  • I'd support this, so long as we got to call Arvo out on shooting Clem AT THE VERY LEAST. A good thump or two to the head would suffice as well, since he would actually deserve it this time.
