If the comics are 2.5 years into the apocalypse, that would actually match up pretty much perfectly with the game..
On another note, why ca… moren't the game go beyond the timeline of the comics and not be canon? I mean, the storylines of the two don't seem to even intersect past Episode 1.
Well, basically what I was saying was that they are two separate stories. They're supposed to take place in the same universe, with the games considering the comics to be canon.
In other words.. if
Comics = game canon
Games can = comic canon
but if the two never intersect it doesn't even matter, because we're focusing on different stories entirely, they just happen to take place in the same universe.
The game is cannon to the comics, as TT said in Season 1. But the TV is very close to the comics, but not exactly the same. So I guess you could say it's somewhat cannon to the TV show.
Guys Hershell Greene and Glenn are both in TWD game and TV Show. The two characters are even exactly alike! INCOME SPOILER At the end of episo… morede one glenn says "I gotta go to Atlanta. I have friends out there." hence episode one takes place around the same time as episode one of the TV show or before the TV show. Hershell also tell his son to check on his sisters. When Rick's group in the TV Show meet Hershell ON HIS FARM in season 2 of the TV Show he has two daughters AND NO SON. Game is 100% cannon to the TV Show.
From what I remember in the comics there has only been one Christmas(when Rick reached the prison and Morgan gave his son a game boy when Kirk… moreman did the issue showing what Morgan and Duane were doing). Yes carl was 7 when the comic started but I think he was close to his 8th birthday. I think Carl's 8th birthday was before Christmas. When Rick reaches the Alexandra safe zone iI think it was Halloween time. I think Carl had his 9th birthday some time in the fall (Autum), hence why he is still only 9, so I think the video game is further in the time line by season 2 than the comics are but i'm sure it won't be long till Kirkman confirms Carl's age in a conversation in the next couple of story arcs.

I agree. I really don't understand this 'canon' obsession. It's a game in the same setting with the comics, just like the TV series. Looking at TV series and comics, they are way apart now. It doesn't seem to bother anyone.

Guys there are a lot of hints throughout the comics and the telltale game about the timelines.
I have been working on a combined timeline of them and the novels (which pretty much screws the whole timelines, so I ignore a lot of the clues from there)
The comic book is now at summer of year 5, and the game ended up at winter of year 3. (The oubreak was at July of year 1)
I have a lot of notes and I can share them with anyone who is interested enough!
I'm not to sure how much of a skip there is between 3 and 4, but I do know that it wouldn't take 6 months for those beans to get that tall, nor would they grow in the winter. 50-60 days would be all that string beans would need to reach full size and start producing. If they did skip winter after 3 then I would imagine it was probably the end of Spring at the start of 4. With a hot house or hot box you can reasonably start plants in March, but I don't think they had either of those. So they probably planted in April, and accounting for the time needed for the beans to grow I think we can assume it was about June.
Now that i think about it, you're right. Season 4 does start several months after the governor attacked the prison for the first time. But still, only 2 time skips have occurred. At the beginning of S3 and 4
The events of the first season of Walking Dead have a time span of exactly 112 days. That means the first season of 'Walking Dead' (Telltale Video Game) ends on January 23, 2004. It's safe to say that since then, two years have passed, so it's probably around December 2005 / January 2006 right now.

I'm basing my dates on calculations on the tapes that are found in crawford in season 1, and other hints that are said throughout the comics, the problem is there are several contradictions through the comic. I think Robert originally had set the outbreak on october, with Rick's comma lasting 1 month or so, but later he kind of went moving the date backwards. Also that time he said it was on 2003 but later he stated that it is not set on any specific year.
In the game:
*In S01E04 the tape marked 9th of October is day 92 => subtracting those dates the outbreak was on July19th or 20th (don't know if they refer to the outbreak as day 0 or day 1)
In the comics:
*In issue #5 Dale says his wife died not 2 months ago, he also says one issue that she died close to the oubreak, and they are close to christmas => This would put the oubreak in october
*In issue #34 (in the Morgan part at the end) they are at christmas and Morgan says that it has been almost 5 months since this all started => This would put the outbreak at late July/early august
*In issue #69 Rick tells Douglas that the group has been surviving for 14 months, and the next day is halloween => This would put the outbreak, or maybe not the outbreak but the formation of the Atlanta Survivor Camp around late august
Also, any date mentioned by any character or written anywhere could be considered a mistake from that character, so one could discard one statement if it contradicts many other ones
No. The outbreak occured on October 8, 2003.

To skip my fanfiction parts skip from Day 4 directly to Day 41

If Robert decides to have a zombie cure or something, then it would be contradictory to the game if it already went past the comics. The comics have dominion over what happens in the game universe.

In the very first issue of the series, Rick wakes from his coma 3 months into the apocalypse. In season 1 of the game, there is a time difference of 3 months between episodes 1 and 2. Lee was not in a coma through the beginning, so that means Rick woke up approximately around the beginning of episode 2.

An 8-9 month skip between S1 and the beginning of S2 is too much, Christa must've been either one or two months pregnant in No Time Left, so a time skip of 6-7 months is more plausible.
ever since lee's death these are some of the timeskips:

* 5 days of walking to the lodge
* 9 day timeskip
* 2 days at carver's
* 1 day at the museum
7.1 day at the house.
8.1 day at icelake
so about 26 months in season 2. She barely turn 11 her birthday is either a month from lukes birthday or a month away, maybe even the same month.

Really you make no sense explain how one season is cannon and the other isn't i'd find that interesting. and im not being sarcastic i really would.
exactly! Thank you!

there was that christmas line in issue 5 of the comics.
I love that you used a HP reference, I can feel a real bromance blossoming :P
It's been a while since I last checked in but this was a nice little spat...
True, true
Herschel says "check on your SISTER", not sisters. It's canon with the comics, hence why Herschel is such a dick.

You couldn't be more wrong, 100% canon to the comics its a fact. Please don't spread Lies
Jesus Christ!!!
Listen carefully at 0:55
I just witnessed the birth of a beautiful bromance. I am honored.
Thanks man, there is the definitive proof for everyone, finally able to put this matter to rest
Aaand we're done here. Good night everyone!

Think video is removed. What did he say? Edit: Never mind, it's just age restricted :P

No, Rick woke up a month in the apocalypse, it is confirmed in Issue 2 when Glenn asks him "where have you been in the last month?"
There's a bit of confusion between the two timelines, in the VG the apocalypse begins in Summer, while in the comic it's already Fall in the first month.
Kirkman never specified the year, he said that he wanted to keep it vague, that's just the release date of the first issue.
Yes. Clementine started at 8. Now at 11.
you think about it, I think she might be older than 11
Season 3 maybe or in this comics at that Negan part, uh.... almost 12 I guess?
That's because the apocalypse had started in the last month. He still could have been in a coma for longer.
