This was my issue when doing that scene T_T If you cover him it's doing what is actually right thing to do logically, and respecting his wish, but he is dead. But helping him you only see him dragged down. It's literally the hardest decision in my life. I chose to cover him because I assumed in the original version where he was determined he is actually saved when you cover him so that's why I chose it in case they patch over it. fingers crossed I might go back and help him instead.
