Against all Odds: There NEVER was the option to save Luke

edited September 2014 in The Walking Dead

Gavin Hammon confirmed on Ask.fm that there never was the option to save Luke. He also criticizes the straw grasping a lot of fans do and use sound files as evidence for stuff. But just read it yourself ;)

Yeah. So that's that.

    Awesome, the King has spoken.

But since he doesn't work for Telltale anymore, does this mean Season 3 won't feature Clementine?

  • Gavin Hammon does not voice Clementine? And by that, he probably meant that his work on season two is finished. He might be back for future Telltale projects.

He himself has often stated that he believes Clem will be the season three protagonist.

  • Oh I thought Melissa Hutchison voiced Kenny...

I'm saying, what if we went with kENNY or didn't shoot him, since he doesn't work for telltale anymore,

  • Melissa Hutchison voices Clementine, Gavin Hammon voices Kenny.

He himself said that he thinks Kenny's story is over, but he would be back if Telltale would somehow implement Kenny in season three.

If that annoying creature called Lexi Porter wasn´t on the Internet, Telltale wouldn´t change their Storyboard.

I hate him/her so much. Little kid doesn´t deserve to have Internet.

  • And how can you explain the file, when Luke gets out of the cold water?

  • We all have shivering barks in the game because we're in the snow in 205. If you did a cursory datamine of Kenny's audio you could probably find me shivering... (ZOMG KENNY WAS SUPPOSED TO DROWN!! SCREW HIM!!!) Luke had his kinda dumb death in very the first draft I ever read, which was long prior to recording.

Every voice actor probably records stuff like that just in case it might be needed. Did your read my OP ?

And how can you explain the file, when Luke gets out of the cold water?

  • Everyone at telltale had recorded files of them shivering, it said it there.

And how can you explain the file, when Luke gets out of the cold water?

  • There never was an option to save him, because Luke is alive anyways. Right? RIGHT!?

  • Of course! Well, in the past episodes, there wasn´t those kind of sound files like in Episode 5. And, why didn´t Telltale deleted this file in the final build?

    Who cares?

Did you ever make a video game? There are HUGE libraries of sound effects and graphics that are made LONG before the final product is finished.

  • Luke was the only one thinking logically at that moment. Darn it Bonnie...

  • Did Gavin call Lukes death 'dumb'

  • 'kinda dumb'

Probably referring to the fact that the death was an anticlimax.

  • He said it's dumb, that he died in the way that he actually died.

  • I doubt they killed Luke because of Lexi Porter.. that sounds so silly.

Actually yes. You are saying Lexi Porter caused TTG to change their storyline, which in all truth is absolutely incorrect.

EDIT: Still, you are implying Lexi Porter was the reason behind Luke being alive or dead. Which again is wrong.

    Oops, I mean would´t.

  • ...

uh, yes. Read longlivelee's post again carefully.

    Oops, I mean would´t.

  • They never changed the storyboard. That's the point of the OP.

He did say he thought Luke's death was for shock value... Which I agree with!

So I think that he thinks his death was 'dumb' because it was done purely to shock the audience, when really, Luke had so much potential :)

  • Ok , fair enough.

  • The sound of him shivering is played when Luke's being pulled down by the walker. Why would they delete something they're using?

  • Luke pulled out a Scuba Mask from his magic pocket when Clementine resurfaced.
