Season 3: What Will Telltale Do Next?

The Walking Dead Season 3 Episode 1 is not even close but it Can't hurt to Talk about. Its sad but Jane & Kenny's Future in S3 looks grim, Telltale doesn't play nice with determinant character but hopefully they break that trend. I Don't believe Telltale will continue with the different finale outcomes & they'll be merging the multiple endings back to 1 linear storyline. BUT the Big Question is will we continue to play as Clementine in the future or will we have a new playable character for Season 3? Too many question not enough answers...

  • i agree with everything in the video and "gameoverEnt" they're just limitless places season 3 could go. At least with season 2 we new clem must be involved somewhere now with all these endings were not even 100% on that. It is possible they would just skip a bit in time and drop us in and say btw this all happened( Jane died Kenny died ect)but this would really make the endings we choose pointless and im sure would upset the Kenny fans immensely. Im sure season 3 will be great what ever happens in it however for now the long wait for it begins.

  • I Personally Loved the Multiple Endings but Telltale Put themselves in a Interesting situation. On one hand they could continue the story with different starting points based on your ending which would great but increase the Development Time between Episodes which could piss off fans. If they Merge all the ending with the BTW scenario It could also piss off fans.

I wouldn't count on TT to make another big time jump into the future, since as far as I know the comics are taken as base for the game and it is not that far ahead. So jumping like 5 years into the future seems unlikely to me. I do believe whoever you picked (or alone) at the end, they won't make it too far in the next season (possibly die or disappear sometime in first episode).

However, the way the season ended, it gave me the impression that TT intends to change the protagonist. Which is something I do not wish to see. BUT ... I would be okay with that, if say, we play a different protagonist in the 3rd season and rejoin with Clementine in the 4th. It could give her story some time to breathe (if that's what the TT requires) while still keeping things interesting and eventually allowing us to reunite with her.

I think this will happen too. Or we could play from Christa's perspective, to see what happens to her, and where she ends up if they decide to keep her alive.

  • "Season 3: What Will Telltale Do Next?"

-Bring in a new cast of characters.

-Make us like the new cast of characters.

-Kill off the new cast of characters several minutes after each shares their life story with the main character.

To be serious with the way they talked about taking it in a new direction, I would think it'll be a new playable character in Season 3 and Clementine will make an appearance with AJ somewhere down the line.So either depending on where she ended up, you'll either meet her in a different time or place, or her backstory with her time after Season 2 will alter when she speaks out about it [e.g I stayed at Wellington and things fell apart; Jane/Kenny got killed and it's just me now]

Does kinda feel like this is it for Clem's story, at least as her as a playable character.

  • Yes, I thought the same as a DLC idea, but why not a full season story right? It could work, seeing Christa as an already established character in the story. Besides, she has a good chance of getting together with Clem at the end, considering she too was going to Wellington (or in that direction in general).

The way the season ended, I agree with this. I still don't understand why though, what made them change direction from the on going story and introduce a new cast.. They ran out of ideas or something? It seems unlikely. And honestly, I don't understand what would be the point to keep Clementine in the story but making her a non-playable character. If they do that they would have to make it in such a way that our choices from the previous seasons could be seen in her personality/dialogues. Otherwise it would upset a lot of people.. I think.

NO. Telltale can not replace Clementine with a new character... I started this series and its Journey with Clem and I want to finish it with her... New protagonist is just a massive "FU" to the fans of this game.

In all the interviews they seem to imply that Clem will be continued.

    • Kill off Jane/Kenny
    • show cutscene of Clem walking through horde with AJ/NJ
    • Cue TWD:S3 Font
    • Meet survivors
    • Refuse to group

    • Aww great here we go
    • End with teaser
    • Dangit I want episode 2 now.
    • Replay S2 expecting different outcomes in S3
    • Nothing
    • Now we wait
  • I just can't see myself being ready to play as anyone besides Clementine. It's her story that got me invested in the first place, and to "start all over again" with a brand new PC makes me feel exhausted.

  • It would be nice to know what happened to her during the time of Season 2. I just don't see them continuing Clem's story right after, because then they will have to deal with the (det) issue of Jane/Kenny. I don't think they would "Omid" these characters to converge the story back in a linear direction.

  • So long as they don't kill characters in the middle of their character arcs I should be fine. (R.I.P. Nick)

Also maybe a longstanding determinant character.

  • So far, I will be buying season 3 episode 1. What they do with Jane and Kenny, will be what makes me buy the rest of the episodes. If they pull another Omid & Christa move with Kenny & Jane, then forget it. I'll just watch playthroughs.
