Clementine has got a long way through the feelings of many.
Telltale, if you're reading this... there is no sense on leaving her or her story.
This is all about Clem and her journey and after all that happened during Lee period on season 1 and now that we've got to control Clem it would not make sense to get another protagonist.
It would be very annoying indeed. To not forget it probably be way to much work for TellTale to handle, because a few choices ain't enough to characterize her future character. At least this confirms that we will continue has Clem, unless season 3 is a side-story, but then naming it season 3 would be pointless in the first place.
Cool to see so many people making accounts on the forum specifically to respond to this thread. Shows the extent of which people are passionate about Clem.

... Which is ridiculous imo. This is The Walking Dead. Her story should end on a bad note. Or at least more conclusively than each of the five endings we got.
Sometimes it's logical that she was the one doing the things (rope that doesn't support much weight, go check on jane/mike&bonnie cos ev… moreeryone else already had their jobs), but sometimes it was weird yeah - I mean it's nice that Clem's dad was engineer, but I'm pretty sure he didn't teach his 8 years old daughter any engineer tricks yet (even though the situation was pretty simple, but then why everyone else said they're clueless how to do it...)
Could have been handled better yeah, Clem's strength is also sometimes logical and sometimes not, but that issue started already when she even 2 years younger dragged Lee through the garage door.
Kirkman would never allow a long enough time skip for AJ to be old enough to fend for himself (even in a minor way like Clementine in Season 1). Plus, Clementine has diamond plot armor. Playing as her just isn't nearly as fun because you know nothing is ever really going to happen to her; shes just going to bumble through a community and have everyone die protecting her or for completely pointless reasons. Also having to canonize an ending or have all endings somehow converge on a single point down the line would make the events of Season 2 and the characters who died feel utterly meaningless. My final reason would have to be that Clem's voice actress was flat for almost the entirety of Season 2; you got more of an idea of what Clementine was feeling/her tone by looking at her model's face than through the inflection of her voice.
Give me a new protagonist, or ditch TWD all together if this season was a sign of things to come.

Melissa Hutchinson's performance was far from flat... Her voice acting was just as good as it was in Season 1, if not better. You can always hear the emotion in Clem's voice, especially when there's something especially troubling going on such as the Jane and Kenny tussle.
A protagonist will always have far more luck than any other character. It's the same in any piece of fiction and it will remain that way. Lee was also immortal until the writers decided his time was up at the end of Around Every Corner, and they could easily choose to do the same with Clementine at any moment in the future, so that's not really a valid argument as far as I'm concerned.
And who knows what Kirkman might allow? He's a swell guy, after all, and even if he denies Telltale a large timeskip there's still a lot they can do.

FALSE FAN ALERT
"Being unhappy with a Season that was worse than the first in almost every conceivable away makes you a false fan!"
Being unhappy with a product you paid for makes you "not a real fan", now? What delusion is this?
No clem no buy is the best summary of my feelings on the matter, even though I would probably end up playing it anyway one day just cuz its called the walking dead and I'm addicted to that universe. Long live Clem!

The Walking Dead is not exclusionary to Season 2, nor is it to the games. Personally, as many problems as I had with Season 2, it was still better written with better characters than the comics or show. However, don't mistake my disillusion with Telltale's new "production strategies" as somehow throwing in my towel and forsaking TWD universe. I love Season 1 and I support it unconditionally; but Season 2 was problematic in almost every category. There was tons of cut or revised content (looking at you, shooting Mike), choices that ultimately meant nothing, throwaway characters/determinants who became almost invisible until their inevitable death and a reduction in gameplay (the puzzles were braindead and there were barely any hub areas). So yes, I suppose you couldn't call me the biggest fan... of Season 2. But if someone said they liked the television show and not the comics, would you say they weren't a real fan? You don't have to enjoy every part of a series to be a fan of it.
its kind of petty to dismiss valid complaints by revoking some nonexistent fanbase permit, don't you think?
A fan, sometimes also called aficionado or supporter, is a person who is enthusiastically devoted to something
EDIT: This is a fanbase correct? Oh I was beginning to think something else...

No, I didn't say, "give me a new protagonist or I ditch TWD." If they can spin it well enough, I'd be fine with any kind of protagonist. My complaint was with the values of Season 2 as a whole in comparison to Season 1. Season 2 was shorter, it had less interactivity from the player and fewer choices that changed any of the in-game scenarios. Clementine's voice acting in Season 2 was flat and most of the conflicts felt rushed/forced. If I can look forward to almost zero gameplay and having my choices not mattering in a game that bills itself as "building the story around the choices of the player", then I would happily abandon it. Just because I would wouldn't diminish my love of Season 1. Besides, as crappy as it was, other developers have put out TWD games. I'd be forsaking Telltale, not TWD.
What you are saying is, "Eat up anything given to you; swallow it without criticism or complaint or you are NOT a real fan." Invalidating someone's complaints for some arbitrary reason like, "they won't buy if the level of quality continues to diminish with each new release" is, again, incredibly petty and the actions of someone blinded by their fanism. The point is to moderate yourself - enjoy something but don't be blind to it's shortcomings.
Did you or did you not just state "If twD DOESNT DO WHAT I WANT NO BUY"....?
All of your complaints became invalid when you said that...

Id rather not have clem anymore, she had a few alternate endings and she is happy enough. Plus I just hate playing as a kid in the type of game where she has to make all these decisions and the adults all do what she says.

There will be more if she dies at the end of season 3. Cause honestly I dont know how clem fans want her story to end, I mean there will always be cliffhangers unless she dies but at least here she is relatively happy. Im not totally set against her being in season 3 but I gave playing as her a shot and I realy dont like it, it sometimes works but more so than not it just dosnt feel right.
For example ep 4 and 5 did it alright but 1,2 and 3 had her do everything for everyone or had people treating her like she was an adult

A well written thoughtful thread. I agree totally!
I also want Clem because I can think of no game with a child protagonist, much less a … morefemale one. It is different. Seeing Clem grow and to see what kind of adult she will be will be fulfilling. I'd like to see her become Lee, for it all to come full circle. Having someone different will just ruin it.

EDIT: This is a fanbase correct? Oh I was beginning to think something else...
Exactly. In average conversation or particularly when she's discussing Lee or the past, Clem's voice intentionally sounds flat and down which reflects her depression and regrets.
The only other well-written child character I can think of is 'The Boy' from The Road... Then again, that movie/book's very similar to The Walking Dead Game in essence.
I'm very attached to her character and don't want her story to end so soon. There's still so much potential and so much that can be done with her, she's only 11.
Also...some people are fed up playing as a child. I'm fed with playing as an adult man. There's a million other games for that.
After reading a lot of peoples perspectives on this I could definitely see them introducing a new player character that will accompany clementine on her travels, but if they just decide to oust Clem entirely from the season or only have her in a short cameo I and a lot of twdg fans will grab our torch and pitchforks....

LOL!
Didn't Clem flat out kill Kenny, Arvo's dead sister, and Lee?
Then again her dad probably did show her a couple tricks....I mean my grandparents were showing me how to drive at the age of four.
I agree with this.
I'm a hardcore Cleminist lol.
Now that's what I call a conclusive ending! We need this as DLC immediately, Telltale!
This is all I want

A false walking dead fan maybe, but a true Cleminist
Hi five! Long Live Clem!
Haha, yes. I think it's fair to say I'm a fan of Clementine, not The Walking Dead.
And don't forget Clems Friend!
Her flat affect is jarring, but understandable for a traumatized child.
Id rather not have clem anymore, she had a few alternate endings and she is happy enough. Plus I just hate playing as a kid in the type of game where she has to make all these decisions and the adults all do what she says.

One of the few well written child characters in fiction Clementine is. And that says a lot
My Clem's far from happy and has a long road ahead of her. Can't say that about everyone's personal Clementine, though.
I'm gonna retread this whole thread again just so that I can believe even more that clem can never end.
A fan, sometimes also called fanatic!

I'd book a flight to the US and likely try to have myself a stern talk with the writers.
'Let Me In' with Kodi Smit-McPhee and Chloe Grace Moretz has two brillant child characters.
Nasty profile pic, by the way.
