Dead is who they are :P
Unknown characters we have never met before. Potentially dead, but possibly still alive. It's possible either one of his parents and/or his sister is/are still alive.
He has blue eyes, so one of his parents could have that trait. Or it could have been recessive in the prior generation.

Nobody knows. In episode 5 season 1 he tells you (if he's alive) that he never got home after everything went to shit. He doesn't know if they are alive or dead or anything.
