"You did not try to help Luke"... SHOULD READ
Really? I didn't try to help Luke? Are you serious Telltale?
This will bother me every time I see it. Going over to him is a stupid idea. The text "You did not try to help Luke" should read "You were not a freaking idiot and didn't try to stupidly put more weight on the ice, getting Luke and possibly yourself killed."
Or, at the least, it should read "You tried to cover Luke."
It wasn't about putting myself in harms way. Anybody that knows anything about crossing an ice river knows that you DON'T FREAKING WALK OVER to somebody that's on cracking ice, or that is partially submerged, unless you yourself are on an embankment (i.e. NOT ON THE ICE THAT ALREADY CANNOT SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF ONE PERSON)
For Luke to live what needed to happen was for him to drop his freaking AK into the water, for him to crawl out, and stay flat on his belly crawling instead of standing. When Bonnie snapped I wanted to say something like "What? YOU got him killed! You shouldn't have gone over there! My going over wouldn't have helped either!"
Comments
The choices were 'Help Luke' or 'Cover Luke', so Telltale, like in everyother choice, used the exact wording. There was no offense intended. You are just blowing in out of proportion.
I helped Luke so I didn´t really get the Bonnie thing but I just find it hilarious that she says "no one ever expects you to do a damn thing".
Are you fucking serious, Bonnie?
I'm reading this on my screen right now:
"You and 50.7% of players did not try to help Luke."
I said it again:
And I'll say it agian.
I'm reading this on my screen right now.
"You and 50.7% of players did not try to help Luke."
^This statement is WRONG and that's what I'm fussing about.
I "did" try to help Luke, just not the way that was for sure gonna get him killed.
well Bonnie just liked that warm puffy jacket more than Clementine..
I bet she´d have taken it off Clementine´s dying frame when she got shot if Kenny didn´t walk out.
whoa, that's gross.
Look, I know, but the point is that you did not chosse the option named 'Help Luke' and Telltale always uses the exact wording of the choices. You can be offended, if you want, but is only that.
I'm not "offended" I'm aghast because they are wrong![:/ :/](https://community.telltale.com/resources/emoji/confused.png)
Dead on. HardAppleCider. All the more infuriating because Luke ASKS you to stay back. He gets it. He was a pretty selfless guy, but I've always thought that in this case, his apparent selflessness has more to do with being worried that if someone did exactly what Bonnie did, it would play out as tragically as it played out. Buying him the time to he needs to be delicate about extricating himself is the best thing you can do for him in the circumstance.
Also, they did not use the exact wording. It doesn't say "You and X players did not [help luke]" it says that you and X players DID NOT TRY to help Luke.
What's worse is that they "could" have used exact wording and been right.
"You and X players covered Luke" would have been accurate.
Jesus Christ... I know you were trying to help Luke, I know that covering Luke is the logical choice, I know that saying 'You did not try to help Luke' is wrong. I just think you blowing out of proportion. The stats screen uses the exact wording of the choice and nothing more; you should not take it that way.
I'm only fussing so hard because I like the game so much![:) :)](https://community.telltale.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
"You and X players covered Luke" would have been an even more exact usage of the wording and it would have been accurate.
I wish that was an option![:) :)](https://community.telltale.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Yes, and? The choices have always be presented like this. You did this, you did not do that.
Me too. She could be dying but she´d go with a bang
Okay, they probably should have put 'You and X players did not help Luke', but just because that statement is more clear does not mean they intended for people to take it the way you are taking it.
0_0 "always" huh?

It's like in the 400 Days DLC with Wyatt. I won the game and stayed in the car. Then I got attacked and was forced to ride away. Later it says: You and 70? % left your friend behind. I felt bad for it because I didn't want to leave him. Was there a chance to wait for him?
Or "You and X players COVERED LUKE" :P
Yes. That could have be better.
That's interesting. I actually kind of remember that for me too, but looking at the screen now it says "You and 50% of players stayed in the car."
I wonder if they changed it? Is there hope that they might fix this one too?![:D :D](https://community.telltale.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Or maybe we're both just thinking of "You and 75% of players left Nate."
If that's the case, Nate wasn't your friend from the car. Nate is the douche bag from Russel's story.
Yes. In season 1.
There are a few times were that wording in used in season 2.
That was exactly my take on it too. In my first play my first thought was that it was a determinant choice and that going over there would get him killed... I actually checked this out online after playing before checking to see if there were any alternate endings, because I thought it was really stupid that "being smart" got changed to "did not try to help"
Well, this was not a good time to use that wording... because it's wrong :P
"most" of the time, even in season 2, it uses the exact wording from "both" choices. This time it isn't used for whatever reason.
It should be fixed![:) :)](https://community.telltale.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Ahhhhh, I didn't know his name, that's it. Thanks!
Yeah, It should be fixed. I never said otherwise.
I never said that you said that it shouldn't be fixed :P
XD
I think we're done
I hope it gets fixed.
Covering Luke is helping Luke, but the choice isn't labeled as helping him even though you were. But I do agree on that the endgame choice screen should say "Cover Luke" it also irritates me.
i really missed that "slap bonny" option, when she started babbling that nonsense.
Yeah, me too. That nonsense was so... out of place...
I'll probably end up rewinding and making the "good" choice since telltale doesn't think that Clem should be that smart, I guess. The way they word it, especially since they label the choice as "sacrifice" implies that not being dumb in this situation means your Clem won't put herself at risk for others, which is absolutely not the case for my Clem.
If I was doing a video or something I'd do the "cover him" option and then and then cut to another save file where you act like a dumbass and get him killed after Clem goes to sleep by the fire.
The way it is right now, if you choose "cover him" then Bonnie is at fault for getting Luke killed. If you choose to "help" him then IMO Clem is the one that got him killed (can probably cut her slack though since she's 11 and probably just wouldn't have known any better).
Walking through the river was a stupid idea in the first place.
This is all Kenny's fault.
What? Kenny wasn't even a fan of the idea, it was Arvo that told them to walk through.
Why didn't you try to help luke? WHY!
Bonnie: "This is your fault, and you damn well know it."
"I'M ELEVEN FUCKIN YEARS OLD. WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO, CARRY HIM OUT OF THE WATER ON MY BACK?! FUCK YOU, BONNIE."
I helped Luke, It was a last minute decision because I knew he would do the same for me. And I like his death better when you go and help him because he saves Clem one last time.
