How much does season 1 + 400 Days effect season 2?

I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but I can't really find a competent answer anywhere

Long story short: I bought season 1 on disc for the 360 when it first was released that way and JUST got around to finishing it last night. I want to continue onto 400 Days and season 2, but I want to move over to PS4 because the 360 version was laggy and just felt archaic, plus I want to be playing the future seasons on my PS4, since I'm trying to just move onto next-gen completely.

I know 400 Days seems to effect S2 a lot, but how much would season 2 change if I skipped S1 and just started from S2 on my PS4? And also, will 400 Days be on the disc version of S2 for PS4? Or would I have to buy the GOTY version of S1 for PS4 to play 400 Days?

  • Honestly nothing will actually change physically. However characters will regularly reference stuff so some stuff might not make sense to you

None of the gameplay will change, however character conversations will change in meaningful ways. I personally would never want to play season 2 without loading up a save file, as those details are important to me :)

If I were you I'd either shell out for both on PS4 or play season 2 on 360, knowing that season 3 might not release on 360 (we don't have any details yet).

Or you could get both seasons on PC, in which case you won't have to worry. I have both seasons on 360 and am waiting for a steam sale to get them both on PC.

  • 400 Days's only contribution is the characters who left with Tavia have a minor cameo in the episode three. Nothing more than that.

As for everything else. Really it doesn't change much, other than occasional call backs. But since you control Clementine it really it doesn't matter what you did in Season 1. I've played through with two different save files and the biggest difference seems to come from if you said Shit in from Clem in S1E1. She swears a little more if you do. Otherwise it's just limited to things like "There was this one time (Season 1 reference)". I wouldn't sweat it.

The 400 days characters make cameos in season 2, and nothing more than that. Season 1 affects dialogue choices for season 2, but no more than that. One of the 400 days characters will apparear in season 2, regardless of what you do in 400 days, and will take a main role, so if you want to know the backstory of the character then play 400 days, but it doesn´t really matter. If the game doesn´t find a save file for 400 days, the choices will be pretedermined before starting the game. If the game doesn´t find a save file for Season 1, the choices will be pretedermined before starting the game.

    No.

Yes, if you want to play 400 Days, but is not really necesarry to enjoy the story of Season 2. If the game doesn´t find a save file for 400 days, the choices will be pretedermined before starting the game.

  • Well, we also get Bonnie's backstory. Everyone seems to forget that.

  • It gives you the emotional attachment to Clementine neccesary to care about anybody in Season 2.

  • Why don't you just get it on steam like everyone else?
