Red Subtitles = Hostility

If you realize in Season 1 Larry when he talked his Subtitles turned to red and was always being a prick. In 400 Days Russel had red & he was always trying to bring negativity & go against you. Now we can assume that Randy is Red within subtitles and is going to do something not nice. Clive also had red and was hostile.

How was Russel always trying to bring in negativity? Russel was awesome. Are you sure you aren't thinking of someone else? Maybe you have Russel and Nate confused.

Best line of the season to me.

  • Nah, Russel was the one who had the red colored subtitles. It was when you took control of Tavia. Bonnie did say that Russel didn't trust no one, because he thinks everyone out there is batshit crazy.

  • Really?

    I never noticed this

  • Larry wasn't a bad guy. I mean he did some bad stuff, but just listen to Lilly's speech about him, and I 100% agree.

Russell was pretty negative and against going with Tavia, but he was right about it being a bad place. And he was with the "bad guy" Nate, so that can change a person, but Russell was still a protagonist.

Randy, I'm not sure. Red to me right now means something is off about them. He probably is a good guy, but he's gone through something, or there's a flaw that sticks out.

Yep. He was the only one smart enough to be resistant to the Howe's trap Tavia was setting. And, as it turned out, Carver WAS batshit crazy. You can't dog on the kid for being in the right.

Plus... Russel was a flipping badass. He survived ALONE, and wasn't scared to have to again. We never got to see how, but that kid has just GOT to be tough as nails.

  • And Bloody Mary's subtitles were in red font too! Or I guess it's because.... you know, blood is red. :P

  • It's great.

  • What if I don't play the game with subtitles? Does it mean I live in ignorance?

  • Nope

  • I find it better to play with the minimal HUD. It makes your decisions harder sometimes, but I find it more rewarding.

Seemed out of character for Clem in my opinion, but it was still badass though. Someone elsewhere said it was kind of like a Heisenberg moment for her. :P

  • Didn't Carver also have red subtitles, or am I mistaken?

  • Clive wasn't hostile as far as I know.

  • He had dark green subtitles.

Minimal HUD doesn't give you immediate feedback for a character's thoughts, which can help you to stand by your choices. The lack of text "highlights" reinforces your ability to "read" characters. It can also force you to put more thought into your decisions, since you won't know the exact outcome. I guess you could call it "more realistic" if you wanted to.

  • Yeah he was he went against Lee when he asked if he needed help heading back to Clementine. Also he wanted to kill the guy in 400 days.
