I'm Sick of It
At the conclusion of Season 2, only two characters are confirmed to be alive canonly. JUST TWO. Clem and AJ.
I'm sick of everybody dying by the end of the season. Can we have more people to root for than just Clem please?! You know I love Clem, but come on! The strength of TWD lies within it's characters, not the walkers. It always has been. Killing off all the characters every season is just not smart! There were so many potential character arcs that they wasted this Season! And not only is killing off every character not smart, it's also gonna get predictable!
TellTale did a fine job this Season, but at least at the end of Season 1 we had three characters left. Clem, Omid and Christa. On another note, could this mean that in Season 3 it will end with one character? (A five year old AJ?) LOL.
Come on Telltale, if you're gonna make us care about the characters then make them mean something other than plot fodder, zombie chomps and another person Clementine has lost.
Just my two cents. Hope you guys agree with me. (Or if not, that's cool to)
Comments
Agreed. We need more long term characters. No More Chet's.
Never Forget
He never made it to hot dish night..
I'm pretty sick of it too. I'd at least want one or two characters that AREN'T the games protagonist to survive. It becomes really cliche because you know the people you meet are going to meet their end sooner or later. I'm not saying I want everyone to live. I just want to get out of the "nobody wins in the ZA so we're going to kill you" mentality for a little while.
Yep. It just becomes this cycle of "Oh look at these people. They might be cool. Oh wait, why should I care about them? They're gonna be dead soon anyway."
I'm sure we'll probably see lesser deaths in Season 3 because the series will be at least like... 4 years into the apocalypse so people should be getting adapted to living in their world by then. Unless the walkers start adapting somehow too.
But then again, it's not mainly the undead you gotta worry about. "It's the living you gotta be afraid of" I feel like that line was said sometime during the series. Chuck? So I'm just gonna quote it
No kidding, the walkers are getting smarter. In fact some are becoming vampires! In one of Clem's non-canon deaths, the walker covers her mouth then bites her in the neck! I think it may have been one of the deaths on the observation deck if you fail to push the cannon.
I can get behind that more people surviving. But I just hate to see this turn into the show where zombies become almost non-existent or when you do see them they're a joke.
I agree.
Killing off every determinate character, is getting so goddamn old.
I think it's a waste!
I think Telltale making Kenny a determinate character was completely stupid.
Kenny is such a wonderfully written character.
And if you ask me, he would've been a hell of an asset to Season 3.
Who knows, maybe the writers will surprise us and keep Kenny around.
And I feel that killing Luke off was also a mistake.
Luke was just being to become interesting.
Killing him off was a perfect waste of a good character.
why cant telltale add the option to let people die under your hand and make it hard for each to survive like
save x or x, give food to x or x, provide care to x or x. etc. also make us mash the Q/X/A button to save somebody. it'd be way better.
You really wanted Kenny again? After two whole seasons. I mean this season he barely even grew as a character
In Kenny words: "I don't know what the fuck you're saying, but I know it's all bullshit."
Lol!
And on a serious note, yes I do.
I still think Kenny has a lot more growing to do as a character.
Now that he's regained much of his old-self, it will be interesting to see how he deals with challenges ahead.
Like Rick, even though he had regained much of his old character in Season 4, he still has a lot more room to grow.
Besides, the game needs a strong cast of other strong characters with seniority.
Not just Clementine.
Without other characters who've been around as long as her, characters we've known since the beginning, the quality of the game will surely diminish.
For example on the show, Rick is not the only character to have been around since Season 1.
We also have Daryl, Carroll, and Carl still around, and they've not only generated fans of their own, but they also have added to the quality to the show.
That's how I see it.
Yeah, but then players would keep replaying same scenes over and over again, trying to find a way to save someone (just like i did with Carley). Finally you go online and check if you even can save someone.
Eh, Game of Thrones in a nutshel.
Definitely agree with this.
Beginning of the season
Let's meet everyone who is going to die....
*survives 2 years into walker apocalypse *
*clementine joins group *
*everyone dies within a week and a half *
Basically...
I 100% agree with this thread. Constantly killing everybody off is getting extremely old [I did briefly mention this recently on a tumblr post about Luke here where I thought killing him was one of the worst done deaths I've ever seen, but just that there were other deaths in this season I thought were done poorly too or weren't necessary.] but I really do strongly believe that if Telltale wants to keep the quality on the series up, then they've got to get more main characters established within the story with Clementine, who don't die in the season they debut, or disappear without a trace like Lilly or Christa.
People are going to die in that world, it's expected. But it's hard to want to care anymore about anyone if they just ALL fall down. Kenny, Jane and Bonnie maybe could've made it without being determinant and Luke seriously did not have to drown at that stupid lake. Killing nearly everybody off is rehashing Season 1 and is becoming too predictable. We knew straight off the bat as soon as Nick and Alvin became determinant in episode 2, they were marked with death, and then there were just members in the group who weren't interesting enough where you knew 'yup, they're so dead'. there's no surprise anymore. And it's the same with game's cliché of introducing a bunch of new cast members, just to have them all drop dead a couple episodes later, who you tend to know are going to die because a little before they do, most will likely share some life history or an emotional scene with the main character before they do.
If they seriously want to make Season 3 good, they gotta keep SOME people alive, because just having Clem by herself as the only important character is a formula that's going to get very old very fast if she doesn't have others characters to build longer lasting bonds and development with, and who have gone through the same shit that she has. The recent season in the Walking Dead TV series put that to good use in some of their episodes. Carl realizes he still needed his dad and loves him, Michonne is becoming more like family towards him and Rick [Like this scene, look at them, so familyishly awesome ] Heck that episode with Daryl and Beth, the stuff they did with that one between them was friggin great! [well the whole stupidly putting themselves in danger for drinks, not-so-much, but damn! There were still some really moving moments like in the rest of that season.]
Clem needs some buddies to set fire to some buildings with dammit! >.<
Yeah, I would have liked that. Also, at the end of season 1 weren't Omid and Christa considered unknown, like Arvo and Mike?
jesus fucking christ. the things normal people have to read........
400 days characters, mike and arvo are alive
Why so upset, tohajilee?
Game of thrones has tons of people who are still alive from the first season, same with walking dead show/comic. This game kills every character bar clementine. (I dont count the baby that cant even speak a character)
I'm actually sick of Telltale constantly making characters unknown.
Kenny, Jane...it was nice knowing you, enjoy your 10 minute screentime in S3.
True. Probably.
Kenny: Just to be sure to keep track of your things, I'll be right next doo-
Clem: LIKE HELL YOU ARE! You are staying right where I can see you Kenny! You hear me!? STAY RIGHT THERE!
Kenny: Fine, fine I won't go anywher-[trampled to death by random stampeding cattle]
Clem: ಠ_ಠ
Love how this got more likes than the thread.
George Martin kills developed characters. There's a difference between deaths in TWD and GOT.
It pisses me off that we lost 3 really good written characters in 1 episode(Luke, Kenny, Jane). And even if you go with Kenny/Jane they aren't gonna be around too long anyway. I agree with you 100%. We need more long lasting characters.
DAMN RIGHT! Seriously. I was expecting Telltale to make some diversity when killing groups. Like Luke should've survived goddamn it! So much wasted potential on this season's cast for cheap, shocking deaths.
They are considered unknown, so it's cannon we have no idea whether or not they are alive, like Christa and Lilly.
Yup, there're plenty of GoT characters, minor and major, that have survived all the way to Winds of Winter. Hell, the show's been killing off way more than the books.
Lolly? Last time I checked she was called Lilly.
Sorry, auto correct.
"Still" was my favorite episode of that season. Daryl needs a t-shirt with "Instant asshole, just add alcohol"! But I was glad to get to know Beth more. They hadn't done much with her previously.
I've heard rumours that Dude's actually meant to come back this season so maybe ... who knows
In the words of the shitbird, Arvo
"I not want to see more people dead!"
I very much agree with the OP. If I expect everybody to die apart from the main character, I simply won't care about them as much as I otherwise would. Also, it seems wasteful to kill everybody off, when there were several characters who could have had more development later on.
While it would be great if we could bring on characters like Kenny into Season 3 and make them play a large role, I don't think Telltale will do that. Both Jane and Kenny are determinant meaning that they will have to tie in the two different routes players take in some way. Branching storylines are a little too difficult to manage. I think Jane/Kenny will play a Christa and Omid role in Season 3, making a brief appearance in the first episode then killed or separated leaving their fate dead or unknown. Thus, leaving the slate clean for new victims... I mean characters.
