To Hugo Corv I don't agree with you at all they cant continue the season with all new people in doing so this would not be a season 3 it would be either a spin off or a reboot
the only way to continue with the Walking Dead game is you have to have what you started with in this case Clementine or even if not her than you have to have someone tied to the other 2 seasons to continue this for a 3rd season
to make this a 3rd season other wise its either a spin off or a reboot to start a whole different cast in the game does not make this a season 3 and they said its a 3rd season
so that means we either get Clementine or someone else from the first two seasons who is still alive which are not many
so your options are limited you either get Clem or Glen if he is still alive in that or you get Molly which they said she isn't coming back so she is out so that leaves us with Hershel which I spelled his name wrong Crista if she is still alive Jane or Kenny depending if you kept one of them alive or none if you had them killed
or the 400 days characters that are still alive so in that comment take a pick
me I did not really care for any that much other than Clementine so for me has to be Clementine that's my opinion cause I like her and no one else interests me the story is not finished cause its now a season 3 and for a season 3 to happen one of those characters has to at least return to make it season 3
you cant start a season 3 with new cast for something to continue it has to tie with what happened before it if you throw something totally new in there like a whole different cast than it makes no sense
i really hope they just move on from clementine's story, i really like clementine as a character, but i think her story is done, if they just keep churning out stories about clementine being in a group and everybody dies it will get old very quickly, and just be milking the success of season one dry.
hopefully a new setting and a new group would give season three some much needed originality and a fresh perspective that could make the series great again.
My money is on Bonnie, Mike or Arvo being the playable character in season 3... hopefully Mike. The real problem is that they can't have the character be Clem without doing a "6 months later" thing where your choice at the end of season 2 means nothing. Personally, that would upset me. This whole game is designed around illusory choice so as long as they don't do something that breaks the illusion I'll be okay with it.
Well, there is a problem with that it would be getting old with Clementine. Since if we start up with a new set of characters, then it would "get old" if we start up with a new group and then everybody dies again, just like S1 & S2. TT does not need to repeat the same cycles each season in order for the season to be successful. In "Around Every Corner", Lee got bit at the end and he died in "No Time Left". However, at the end of "In Harms Way", there was a large quantity of people who were afraid that Clem would get bit like Lee did in episode 4 S1, and then die in E5 S2. But it didn't happen, the whole group survived the shoot-out, and she did not die at the end.
Telltale usually is not very predictable, as we all thought that TT would have us choose between Kenny and Luke, but instead, Luke died suddenly and it became Kenny and Jane.
What i am saying, is that TT can continue Clementine's story, while not recycling the same theme from S1 & S2, (Enter a big group, and people start dying until it becomes a very low number of people in episode 5). Clementine just has too much potential for development. Also Clem's story does not need to end when she enters Wellington and becomes safe. Her objective can now be to help other people or possibly find a cure. In fact, the fact that she is safe means that TT can have a new setting of story line for the season with her still as the protagonists. Since now that Clem is safe at the beginning, episode 1 can be mostly where Clem is safe but there should be times when Clem is not safe so the game is still TWD-like. She doesn't need to be put in the same situation again for season 3 to be a great season still with Clem in it.
i really hope they just move on from clementine's story, i really like clementine as a character, but i think her story is done, if they jus… moret keep churning out stories about clementine being in a group and everybody dies it will get old very quickly, and just be milking the success of season one dry.

i never thought clementine would die in episode 5, i think telltale were just saying "look, the protagonist doesn't have to die at the end of the season" so that when they make the new season we just won't know it will end with the protagonists death.
no matter what setting they put clementine in, she will always be a child who everybody relies on, and that was getting ridiculous with just one season let alone doing it again and again.
as i said i hope they go with a new fresh start, so they can make a completely new and original story, without all of clementine's baggage

Actually, I think that it's a nice idea to have a new protagonist that meets Clementine and she will act depending on your previous choices (soft and nice/toughened survivalist). The protagonist might be not much older than Clem so we will get to see a relationship between brother and a sister/two sisters. That'd be cool and it would make our choices matter.
Exactly. To continue with Clem, either she would have to leave the safety of Wellington or Wellington would have to fall. Neither could be done without undermining believability. I think TellTale can do better than that.
i really hope they just move on from clementine's story, i really like clementine as a character, but i think her story is done, if they jus… moret keep churning out stories about clementine being in a group and everybody dies it will get old very quickly, and just be milking the success of season one dry.

Well you did not think she would die in episode 5, but however, when season 2 came out, there was some speculation of whether Clementine would die or not from other people, people was scared that Telltale would kill Clem in episode 5, but they didn't.
Well, i do think that it was kind of ridiculous the amount of people that relied on Clem in season 2, but that was what was great with it!
Clementine's story would be boring if she only did 15% of all main activity and just stood back and watched , it is just one of Telltale's tools to get you involved with the story line and develop relationships with characters as well as with Clem herself.
In fact, she is 11 and Telltale can make her teenage years have an interesting story with her, you seem to skip all the possibilities that Telltale can have with Clementine, Telltale does not need to have the story be the same over and over again with the same exact circumstances, that would be boring Telltale can definitely make a "fresh" new type of story for her, she has much more potential than a new character which we have no idea about before we meet him/her. Unless if they rewind to the beginning of the apocalypse, which i doubt they would do.
In fact, a continued story with Clementine would be better than a completely new story. The reason why Clementine would be a better choice is **because ** she has so much baggage, season 2 was so great because it also had many references to season 1 and these references cause the player to have a more deeper connection with Clementine and if we just start out with a new fresh character without any baggage we know about, then the story would not be the same as it was in season 1 and season 2. Season 1 was to build up Clementine to brave the apocalypse.
Season 2 has just ended, and Clementine is still alive, season 2 was all about Clementine. You can't end Clementine's story without ending The Walking Dead altogether, without degrading her role as the main focus of the walking dead. If you do, then the main purpose of season 1 and season 2 was pointless.
i never thought clementine would die in episode 5, i think telltale were just saying "look, the protagonist doesn't have to die at the end o… moref the season" so that when they make the new season we just won't know it will end with the protagonists death.

I do believe that Wellington should not fall like Crawford or Howe's but why would leaving the safety of Wellington like in episode 2/3 of season 3 be bad storytelling?
Exactly. To continue with Clem, either she would have to leave the safety of Wellington or Wellington would have to fall. Neither could be done without undermining believability. I think TellTale can do better than that.
As I argued in the OP, that's because it undermines the premise of the game where the goal is to get Clementine to safety. It doesn't make sense for her to leave Wellington after all it took to finally get her there safely. Everyone she knows died to get her there. I don't think we will ever see Clementine die, nor do I think they will continue the series with her as the player character. Her story ends with getting to safety.
I do believe that Wellington should not fall like Crawford or Howe's but why would leaving the safety of Wellington like in episode 2/3 of season 3 be bad storytelling?
Well, that is a good point, but still, why end there? Clementine can still be the protagonist of the main story and still be safe/unsafe at times. Plus her being safe for the rest of her life in Wellington is very unlikely. I still think that she can leave Wellington and the story being progressed from there, this is The Walking Dead, almost no one is safe.
Also what about all the other endings, what if you did not end the season that way? I guess since Clem is safe in one ending, then everything must end for her story. What is the point of going on in The Walking Dead, if our moral compass and the main protagonist of the previous two seasons is just gone like that? She still has plenty of potential to be such a good story, Telltale does not need to end a story just because it is ,for the moment in, in safety. They can also cause Clementine's story to end when *everything *is safe for good, that is, when the ZA is over.
As I argued in the OP, that's because it undermines the premise of the game where the goal is to get Clementine to safety. In fact, why can't Clementine then have a second objective and that is to safely raise AJ, and some other unkown premise for season 3.
It can go like this:
Season 1 and season 2, Get Clementine to safety
Season 3 and season 4 Raise AJ and (unknown objective)
In fact the ending of season 2 is actually does not provide a very good closure for her story.
Get Clementine to safety for what? What is the point of getting her to safety if we just end her story?

There are plenty of other things going on in the world of The Walking Dead.
Perhaps people are trying to find a cure. That's not Clementine's story, though; she can't solve all the problems of the universe. Her character is an 11-year old who never got to 4th grade, because the Zombie Apocalypse happened. That would not be believable. I understand that she's still alive, but stories don't have to end with a character's death. She already overcame her antagonist (lack of safety) and achieved survival.
I don't see it as strange for a new Player Character to emerge in Season 3. The first 2 had different PCs.

No matter what they do, Clementine has to be here.
What we've been trough with her during season 1, and season 2. All that, gone ? It would not even be a mistake, it would be some kind of Sepukku.
I still want to continue Clem's story, it can't be over yet after only two seasons. Something I would find really interesting if they decide to introduce a different protagonist is if we meet Clem and she will act differently towards us according to who we made her become in season 2.
I'd be ready to play as someone new only if they do something like that and keep Clem as an important part of the story so that our choices mean something even in season 3.
I wouldn't mind Clementine making a cameo in season 3 or even being a major character for an episode or two but her story is over. Just look at all the things she's been through and all the people she's lost, if she stays a main character her suffering will just keep growing. At least the season 2 endings give her a hope of a better life, but if we continue following her? She'll just end up right back where she was at the end of season 2, with most of her friends dead and more miserable than ever. I keep hearing people say that they don't like it when their choices don't matter, but what do you think will happen if Clementine stars in season 3? Everything you did to get her to the ending she arrived at will be for nothing, she'll just go back to being the chew toy for another season and lose whatever shreds of humanity she has left. I'd hate than more than if they just killed her off. Season 2 was dark and hopeless enough without a third season coming along to top it.
you think it was ridiculous that people relied on an 11 year old, but that is what is great with it.
this is why i think people like the concept of clementine being the protagonist but they don't actually critically look at the game, if clementine was just some random 11 year old that was relied upon to do everything, i would imagine people wouldn't think that it being so ridiculous was what was great about it, i would imagine they would think it damaged the story as a whole and made it unbelievable.
also her baggage was shoehorned in, apart from when it related to kenny, why would somebody start talking about a guy they knew for a few months when they were 8 years old, and just totally forget about the people who looked after them for the last two years, except to pander to fan expectations, i enjoy the whole "keep your save game file" thing and like references from previous choices, but the subtle ones are good, not the in your face "hey stranger i just met, let me tell you about an amazing guy i knew for a few months, because he used to be the protagonist of the previous game" stuff, and what is season 3 going to have "hey let me tell you about this person i knew for less than a week, because they were important to the story last season"
