The Pointlessness of Mike.
Why did the writers prioritize Mike so much as an equal member of the group? Nothing is known about him at all. Sure he had a few cool one liners but in relevance to the story? He had nothing at all and we know nothing about him. Why not kill Mike in the beginning of Ep. 4 instead of Nick? Nick would have been perfect to keep around showing us that our decision to save Nick still had a chance to have some impact on the story in the end. Just another reason why the writing was questionable this season.

I agree with you. But what choice would replace the "Walter forgives Nick or lets Nick die" choice?
insert raccoon joke here
What I'm thinking is Eddie was supposed to take the role of Mike, but they re-wrote it last minute.
Yeah, Mike was pretty pointless. His only role in the group was to leave the group.
it's possible he will play a bigger role next season.
Keep the same choice Clementine makes, but Walter will decide for himself that too many people die pointlessly and will save Nick's life. We've seen that before where you tell a character your opinion but they choose for themselves.
So....uh, anybody remember when we thought Mike was super awesome?
Hahah dude, you profile pic, I can't even...lol. Possibly. Wasn't Eddie's face in the Amid the Ruins episode thingy?
I still think he's awesome, but I have to agree with the fact that he was replaceable.
I just don't understand why he loved Arvo so much. Everyone liked him before No Going Back, and Bonnie too. Remember Team Bike?
Or perhaps he still chooses to not help him, but Clem is then given the option to shoot or attack the walker, and if she lets the timer run out then Nick pushes it away, I mean it was far fetched that he couldn't do that, especially when he had drunkenly attacked a few walkers before if you went with him.
Lol yeah. "The only people I like right now are Bonnie and Mike." Wonder what those people are saying now XD
Well... the only thing they cough totally not me cough were really wrong about was Luke XD He was literally the only character who doesn't do something shitty this episode, with the exception of AJ.
I was one of those people too, and now I'm like:

The majority hate him now
... yeah, that's a fair point.
Lol, yeah. It looks like they re-wrote the whole plot of Season 2.
Well they didn't prioritize him that much, I don't think he even got a "Mike will remember that" notification throughout the game.
Nobody understands Mike's point of view. If there was someone in your apocalypse group who is selfish, doesn't take no for an answer, and is just simply an asshole. Wouldn't you want to leave too?
P.S. I know I'm gonna get a lot of crap for this lol. It's just that I didn't agree with most of the things Kenny did in The Walking Dead. Not saying I don't like him at all now. He has been through a lot.
This isn't a Mike hate thread, it's about how replaceable he was.
Leaving is understandable even though I don't agree with it, but stealing the supplies of a baby and 11 year-old girl, and leaving in the truck is just selfish of him.
i'm just gonna say what i said in the other replace mike thread
mike's character model is actually a modified version of nick's character model so telltale could have easily never introduced mike in the first place and instead have nick take the role and to make it seem even more believable if he had to die because he was determinant then they should have killed him during the shootout with the russians
Technically the baby couldn't have any of the supplies, as Kenny did say none of them would help the baby. But he did steal from Jane, Kenny and Clem, which is out of character. It was probably just a way to demoralize them for leaving Kenny.
It's sad. I still like Mike.
Which still pretty much means that he hates Mike. torkahn hates his existence. And besides, if Mike never did leave the group, I'm pretty sure there would be less threads on how Mike is stupid or something
I'm not the guy that leaves when shit gets real you know?
In the words of Kenny himself
"You don't end it cause it's hard, you stick it out, and help the folks you care about."
To be honest, that's exactly what he was doing, he didn't care about Kenny at all, he didn't trust Clem to not tell Kenny because the plot dictates that you are friends with him, Jane was a wild card and he had no idea how she would react and he couldn't take AJ because he didn't have baby supplies either, and I guess he figured he'd be safer with Jane, Kenny and Clem.
What I mean is that, you don't leave, you stay and try to make things better. And he was gonna let Clem come with if she asked (I didn't)
Had he stayed Kenny would've left Arvo behind to rot, and what would he then? Just comply and say, "Yes, Kenny, whatever you believe is right." To be honest I would have left as well.
At least leave HALF of the supplies for Clem, instead of taking it all.
That was definitely out of character, but if Bonnie died at the lake something odd happens. Without Bonnie she doesn't come around saying she has the remaining supplies, yet Clem can still accuse Mike of taking them all. Just a nice tidbit.
Bonnie's alive in my game, so they were taking it all. And maybe Arvo or Mike carried the supplies in the truck already? I'm just assuming things though.
It's a possibility, but Clem couldn't see that. Which also brings up the weird thing that Clem knew Natasha was Arvo's sister. Unless Clem learned Russian between episodes then she shouldn't have had that information as well.
BECAUSE VIDEOGAME LOGIC IS BEST LOGIC.
That's how Clem knows Russian
I kind of find it funny that I, along with everyone else was rooting for Mike and Bonnie. Now after No Going Back, everyone is granting death wishes on them. I personally still like them. Just a little less after what they did.
I feel like Nick would've been a better substitute for Mike in the shootout. At least its would've been a better death for Nick than just tripping on a fence and dying.
For me Mike could have just been alternative Nick, If Nick died Mike lived or if he didnt Nick Messed up somehow and Mike died. Determinants without alternatives never work
My thing is his existence had little meaning at all. He was just a dude. That's all we know about him at all. There's no attempt at a backstory and developing a character.
That's screwed up.
