Why Kenny isn't written well.
Hear me out, I can already hear half you guys like "NO UR WRONG"
I will start with how he is portrayed. In season 1, he was chill, but got angry. He was someone with a bad temper, and he stayed that way.
In season 2, he started as an angry man who was always grumpy and yelling. That is not how I saw Kenny before. You might say he had development off screen, but that isn't how video games work (well, they do it, but it isn't GOOD).
His son and his wife's death made him cry, but he was pretty much fine overall. He stayed the same, but a bit more defensive. After his new girlfriend dies, he loses it and swears at everybody and screams.
Something doesn't seem right. Discuss.

2 years into the apocalypse + PTSD + retarded cabin group
Kenny is written well in Season 2
I think his character is well written, but his arc should have ended in Season One, he just repeats it in Season Two.
You beat me to it.
I think he's written well.
Ever since his reintroduction he's opposed by everyone. Nick, Luke, Carlos, Rebecca, Mike, Bonnie then Jane. I'd be a bit grumpy if I was opposed all the time too.
I think he just has so much stress his personality changes depending on the situation. Or PTSD
They should have done something new in season 2 because his character development is basically the same except he becomes more broken...
I disagree. Kenny is one of the most complex yet well-rounded characters in the game. He has many flaws and imperfections, yet has redeemable qualities as well. I'd say he is written very well.
That's what I always think whenever people claim Kenny and Clem have always been best friends since the very first episode of Season 1.
just cause a character gets mad cause he loses ANOTHER loved one doesn't mean he is a bad character in fact that is what makes them better and like it or not kenny is one of the best written characters
He lost Duck and Katjaa, cries, gets over it.
Loses his girlfriend, loses it and goes into a fit of rage and depression. I just don't think that is right.
he didn't just get over it do you honestly hate kenny that much? you could tell throughout episode 4 he was still grieving especially after he found out all the boats were gone and the angry side of him we saw in season 2 came out when ben told him he gave the supplies to the bandits if no one was there to hold him back kenny would have given ben the arvo treatment maybe even worse
Kenny never got over Kat and Duck. Not even in Season 2. The only reason he didn't lose it with Kat and Duck like he did with Sarita was because he devoted himself entirely on finding a boat. Once Ben tells him the truth, he loses it with him just like he did with Clem when Sarita died. You could say he lost it worse in Season 1, because he had to be physically restrained by both Lee and Vernon whereas in Season 2 he just yells insults.
He's written okay. But he literally does the same thing he did in Season 1.
Katjaa and Duck die = WE NEED TO GET A BOAT
Sarita dies = WE NEED TO GET TO WELLINGTON
Another loved one of Kenny DIED. No shit he's going to feel that way. If you're going to ask why Clementine doesn't act that way, it's because they both have different personalities. Sure he tried to stay strong when he lost Katjaa and Duck, but a man can only take so much before he breaks down.
Your argument is invalid.
So umm... who on earth is even claiming that? I can't say I have seen even one single person say that.
Katjaa and Duck die = Kenny's depressed.
Sarita dies = Kenny's depressed
Kenny's depressed = If you sliced his girlfriend's arm off, he'll be angry.
I don't see your point.
Wellington is the new boat!
Kenny-haters are claiming that.
I'm no Kenny hater, I just hate how he's written in Season 2.
Emotional attachment and having a bond, so there.
He didn't get over Duck and Katjaa. If anything Kenny's problem is he never gets over anything ever. I'm surprised he doesn't tell Clem off because Lee disagreed with him once. The only reason he didn't get worse than he was after Sarita died was because of AJ being born and he latched onto him like Duck 2.0.
Kenny had no business being in season 2. He was badly written there because it became all about him. the 2nd half of season 2 was the Kenny show. Everyone else took a backseat for Kenny to appease his rabid fanboys.
Alright, but that isn't the same thing as saying "best friends since episode one". Not sure if you were intentionally over exaggerating for effect or what
Why...... Why would Kenny haters claim something that would make Kenny look better?
I actually think Kenny has better characterization than Clementine.
Well the way people are describing this whole relationship makes me think that they saw Kenny and Clem become best friends in the first season, so I don't know.

Either that or you're full of shit like 90% of your posts.
Id like too see you react after 2 years in a ZA with all your loved ones dead, every single one. I wonder if you still be "level headed"
"NO UR WRONG"
SO WAS JANE-HATERS lol
That awkward moment when you realize an 11 year old girl has lost just as much as the grown man has and has managed to keep a level head. This argument only works if Clementine didn't exist.
If anything I'd say the biggest problem most people have with Kenny is that he is written as a flawed human character, when a considerable amount of people are hoping for a white knight. Kenny's a well written character he just is very flawed man who's trying to do the best he can about the things he cares about.
Replay season 1 and go straight into season 2. It's not only the same Kenny but the progression across games fits perfectly. Kenny is damaged. He's damaged in both seasons and people are right that it's a similar arc but what is different is the extent of the damage. A little like the broken Christa we saw or even the hardening of Clem, people change in the ZA. That's not poor writing. It would be poor writing to ignore it.
"Kenny seems... different lately... Does he seem different to you at all Clementine? I mean... from when you knew him before?"
Sorry but no. Losing parents, parent figures, and friends =/= losing the love of your life and your child. Nothing can break a man more.
Well, first of all: "NO UR WRONG"
Second:
How about... no.
When you find him at the Moonstar Loodge, he cries for happiness at seeing Clem again. They talk, and laugh together. He seems just... so happy. He is good old Kenny, pretty much. Then he finds out Mathew is dead, Walter gets killed, and is all the fault of the new group that was with Clementine. They didn´t tell them anything, so they are not to be trusted. Of course he could be more angry, at having to survive with the people that destroyed the life he had built with Sarita and his friends out of self-interest.
Are you kidding? Is son was bitten, his wife killed herself in front of him and he even had to shot his son himself or let Lee do it. He is not fine. He is not fine at all.
"Get out of here, Lee!"
"Nobody knows shit. He be fine. Get back there and tell my wife everything is going to be all rigth."
"I...I-I don´t know what to do."
"You little pissant! You're fucking dead, do you hear me?! Dead! My wife and child, you got them both fucking killed! If this asshole thinks he's getting on my boat after what he did, he's out of his motherfucking mind! You hear me shitbird?! You can stay behind and fucking rot!"
No. He pretty much reacts the same way he did with Duck.
"She's not dead! It isn't gonna go like this. I won't be left alone again. We're gonna leave. We're gonna get out of this. I don't care what these fuckers are saying you're gonna be FINE."
In fact, the only time he screams is if you axe Sarita right in front of him.
"Y-You stupid fucking kid!"
When you talk to him when you get to Parker´s Run, and in tent, he doesn´t scream. He is bitter, but he doesn´t scream. That´s the worst part of that scene, really. It looks like he has cracked under the weight of everything.
"She didn´t what me to wait. But I had to. In case by some crazy chance she didn´t come back. That beatiful face... So I waited."
"You know how it feels to be beaten almost to death? Peaceful. It fells peaceful. It was like I was floating away, watching the whole thing happen to me. And then I waked up again, and nothing changed. I am still taking a beating, every day. Duck. Katjaa. Sarita. No peace. No rest."
"Why the hell couldn´t Carver have just finish me off? Obviously I am not helping anybody by being here."
The only difference is that Wellington actually exists.
...except that the boat exists too. They found it.
