Lee, The Alpha male, Lee the Leader
I've noticed in my second playthrough of Season 1 that much of the early episodes consists of Lee in the middle of two opposing forces and being forced to decide which one to support. Carley mentions that he should take charge more. At what point did you guys see this actually happen? For me I began to see a leader in Lee in that scene when everyone is walking away from the dairy and Lee is in the front of the group, implying that it was his group and his people and he would take care of them from them on out.

Lee was the leader, even if Kenny and Lily didn't know it. He made all the choices.
"Buncha...dominant alpha male horseshit. And it all ends the same way."
"Not all men are like that, there are good men too. My friend Lee. he was a good man..."
Bingo.
"Well, I wish I had the chance to meet him."
Luke should be careful what he wishes for.
Mission accomplished.

You're pouring salt on the wound.
I got two replies and none of them showed up...witchcraft.
Anyway...
To both of you. ;_;
Except later in that episode Kenny and Katjaa decide to steal the Strangers supplies, no matter what Lee says.
True, very true. If Lee sides with Clem, it's Lee, Clem, Lilly and Ben who all agree stealing from the car is wrong and Kenny, Katjaa, Carley and Duck who all want the stuff in the car. Shows that Kenny was always a stubborn jackass who wanted to justify whatever he did in anyway possible. Granted, they did need the food though in that case and the Stranger was pretty dumb (albeit distraught) to leave his car wide open like that.
As much as Id like to have used Lee to have taken leadership in the group, he wasnt truly the leader until even Ep.5.
Although at the end of Ep.2 hes the one that steps up and saves everyone, its really more a redeeming moment for him, that he was a murderer in the past, but now he can make a difference and help people (even if it is beating up or killing bad people). Lee makes no attempts to lead the group at any point in the near future, people take supplies from the car, no matter his decision, he isnt able to reign in either Kenny or Lilly in at the beginning of Ep.3. Kenny effectively makes the decision to take the train and go to Savannah and it went on like that.
It just wasnt in his character, it seemed like he never wanted to be leader at all, just wanted to help and keep Clem safe. When Clem was finally in enough danger, he had no time for committees, he knew what he had to do. Hes smart and strong enough to be leader, he just never had the will for it.
I wanted him to be leader at the start of Ep.2, which was a good opportunity for him since Doug/Carley and Mark are both supporting him, but even though you can tell Andy that youre the leader and such, it never really amounts to anything.
Two parents looking out for the best interest of their child, even if a family friend doesn't approve. Who would believe it's possible?
Lee wasn't a dictator, but people listened to him, followed his example, and relied on him to make the difficult choices. He did that by actually leading people, not trying to force them to march to his drumbeat like some dictator.
Lilly was suposed to be the leader of the group on the first episodes, and then Lee takes the leadership, i wouldn't say it's cause he's the alpha male but more cause he was the most neutral, and all choises depended ultimately on him.

Ep2 shows Lee having characteristics of a leader, and that's when he joins the fight for leadership.
But, I personally think he only becomes the true leader in Ep4. When Lilly is gone and Kenny is disheartened.
