Was Season 2 Ep 3 - 5 A Loyalty Test To Kenny?

Think about it, every episode they tried to make kenny the bad guy, and you were asked to side with him,

Ep 3:
Help Kenny or Hold Back Sarita.
Cut Off Saritas Arm or Kill the Walker.

Ep 4:
Axe Sarita or Help Kenny with Her.
Side With Kenny Or Luke.

Ep 5:
Side with kenny about the baby and Arvo or side with everyone else.
Side with Jane or Kenny.
Kill Kenny or Let Him kill jane.
Stay at Wellington or Leave.

its like ep 3-5 was TRYING to pull you away from kenny.

  • I think they were just offering decisions based on a popular character for impact, not because they wanted to test us.

  • im pretty sure it was a test, to see who your clem would become.

  • Walking Dead has always been about the characters and finding family. I feel like the shoot Kenny or dont is sort of a test of would you trust your family still even if they are going out of control or would you have to do the hardest thing and kill them. (Still glad I didnt kill Kenny <3)

  • exactly what i mean.

  • I think the whole series is a test for who your Clem becomes, that's why I don't single out the Kenny decisions from the others.

    Agree to disagree, though.

im pretty sure it was a test, to see who your clem would become.

  • If anything, Ep 3-5 did everything it could to draw you towards Kenny. He basically repeated the same thing he did last season. Sarita dies, he falls into a state of deep stubbornness. You feel sympathetic towards him. You see Kenny with AJ and you feel happy for him. Kenny abuses Arvo because he could and Arvo ends up shooting Clem so somehow its justified. Then at the end, surprise surprise! Kenny was right! Wellington exists. Whoop dee doo.

im pretty sure it was a test, to see who your clem would become.

  • thats the thing, on multiple ocasions clem had the option to say it was happening again like in S1. it tried to make kenny look crazy and trick us, not me though, anyone who fucked with kenny got a earful from my clemycloo.

Will you please stop with these kinds of threads? This Season wasn't completely focused on Kenny, we've also got another characters to discuss about. This is just sad to watch.

  • what kind of threads? im just statin my opinon bro, to me the only 5 characters that mattered in S2 were sarah, clem, rebecca, luke, and kenny.

  • A question of, Do you believe Kenny is too far gone? Is he going too far? Or is he still worth redeeming himself? Does the good outweigh the bad? Well, it depends where you draw the line. Are you fine with Kenny physically abusing a harmless teenager? Are you fine with the way he acts to you and blaming you for Sarita's death? Or is this justifiable to you? Anyway, that's what I get out of Kenny's behavior in Season 2.

  • So what if the final decision was between Luke or Kenny? Who would you stick with? Still with Kenny?

  • Eh he already earned my undying loyalty in Season 1 so things like taking a beating for Clem in S2EP3 is just icing on the cake.

If they were actually trying to pull me away from Kenny they did a shit job.

  • shit.. you put me on the spot there, because i was really fond of lilly. shiiiiiiit.... gimme a couple minutes.

  • To me Kenny was a dead man who had lost my loyalty since S1 E4 and finally got to take care of him 9 episodes later.

  • That most of recently created threads are focused on Kenny, and it generally turns into a brawl. I don't like to butthurt over anything, but it's just becoming tedious. We have dozens of brilliant characters, however we keep talking about one.

    whats your point sir?

  • I like this thread good idea! It could be that there was a test.

There are some hate Kenny, because he was aggressive. But in the end, if you let Kenny alive. Then, says Kenny why he killed Jane and why he was aggressive.

Kenny: But I'm tryin' to change. I'm workin' on it. Somethin'... broke inside me... A long time ago. And I've just been tryin' to hold it together... but...

He is broken, because his son Duck is dead. He had a family, Katjaa and Duck. Then Sarita died...broke everything out in Kenny. The saddest Kenny is sacrificing himself for Clementine and AJ to stay in Wellington.

I think, that this test is to show that we should trust our old friend Kenny. Kenny isn't a bad person, not like Jane.

  • get. out.

Honestly, I couldn't really see any reason to not shoot him in the episode 5 ending. He was about to kill another person, even if he had been my favorite character I wouldn't let him kill someone. Honestly, I believe he was losing it, he had no right to do some of the things he did.

  • no its fine i was just kidding. i just love kenny, you didnt offend me. its cool.

  • Gotcha it's hard to tell sarcasm over the internet so I assume the worst :p Now I love Kenny as a character it's just the way things went down in my play-through that makes me think of him that way is all :)

  • jane deserved it, she did it, she caused it, she asked for it, she wanted it, and she could have stopped it, the fact that she was so confident that SHE, SHE! would beat kenny out of all people, she was litteraly saying:

Clementine had no knowledge of this at the time, ergo, she had no reason to believe Jane did something wrong. Also, as Jane pointed out later, she had no idea Kenny would have gone that far. Had Kenny calmed down, this could have been avoided.

Jane Could have stopped it, not kenny, he had every right to kill her, and she could have stopped it by saying, AJ is alive.

  • I almost went that way as well but I didn't think they'd give me a second time to do it, and being way more dark and cold then leaving him to re-animate. If they didn't give me that second choice I would've went with him as well.
