They killed him off to catch people off guard - for shock value.
I also think the community played a part in his death. They were constantly like "lol kill luke and kenny we want mike and bonnie" so they decided to change things up from their original plan and replace Luke with Jane.
Apparently, Luke was actually supposed to survive. But since there were so much Cluke shit and too many people leaked and hacked into the ga… moreme files and knew what the choice was, it resulted in a major script change. Jane was originally supposed to fall into the ice, and Luke and Kenny became friends but then you had to save one of them in the blizzard. Don't know if this is entirely true, but it's what I've heard, and it seems pretty realistic.
It's pretty cool but sad news at the same time, knowing Luke was supposed to survive but he couldn't because of too many damn assholes hacking in the files and fucking cluke (I'm looking at you, Lexi). You know, on a second note, I hope this isn't the case, I'd rather have him die the way he was supposed to rather than he was supposed to survive but too many people fucked it up and they were forced to kill him off.

That's why I have so many mixed feelings about Telltale changing their whole gameplan just to please the fans. A dramatic ending that actually had proper buildup (you cannot convince me that they, all this time, were planning to build up Luke like that just so he could die) is much better than a dramatic ending that came out of nowhere.
Fans change their opinions daily and per episode. There is always one character who is hated one episode and loved the next. I can't believe we might have killed Luke with this attitude.

Also they wouldn't have left in the first place if Luke had survived because Kenny wouldn't have beat up Arvo and made them all mad:)
They left because Kenny wanted to take the car to north (treating Arvo like shit and wanting to leave him behind wasnt their main reason for leaving). And i dont think Luke would have wanted to go north either, since that plan was too risky. Only thing what we could speculate is who would have the car?
I don't think he would have left with Mike and Bonnie if he was still alive, I think he would have stayed with Clementine, Jane and Kenny be… morecause he obviously had a thing for Jane and he cared about Clementine also him and Kenny seemed okay with each other in this episode so I think if anything he would have convinced them to stay. Also they wouldn't have left in the first place if Luke had survived because Kenny wouldn't have beat up Arvo and made them all mad:)
Well that's my opinion anyway:)

If you chose stay at wellington kenny ending this will be were luke and nick will be with kenny at his vanilla ice shop which is overall the best outcome
I think it was a mistake to kill Luke off prematurely. Jane should have died in the ice instead of him.
But, it's too late. He can't be brought back without resorting to magic
Mike and Bonnie both thought Kenny was loosing it and didn't want to stick around but Bonnie had a thing for Luke so she wouldn't have left if Luke was still alive unless he went with them which I doubt he would since he obviously cares about Clementine (if you choose to help Luke he dies protecting Clementine) and he has a thing for Jane so he cared about her too so I doubt he would leave them behind and if he wouldn't go then I don't think Bonnie would want to as well and then Mike wouldn't have left too:p

He'll have a foreign girlfriend and everything.
I'm coining the phrase "They left them on the fence" the next time someone gets a terrible death.
I like that one too.
Now everyone's like "We want Luke and Kenny, kill Mike and Bonnie." it's a complete turnaround now.

I'm with you.
I swear it seems like the most interesting characters with the most potential get killed off way too easy, and often in stupid ways
Uncle Pete is a great example of that ;-;
RIP Uncle Pete
his death is great, and he should stay dead
How is his death great? And I was joking with this thread...

The good... Bad ol days.
bitterness / 10
My bitterness is just as bitter as it was back in that bitter day.

Luke's dead and gone.
No getting real lucky when your lungs are filled with water.
The denial is strong with this thread...
You're a party pooper...
It's a joke thread

Idk why then because you're saying what everyone needs to hear
And it's a joke thread...

Or luck. Lots and lots of Kenny powered luck.
