Science can change to fit new data, it can be wrong and is a lot but it can change.
Religion can not, it is the same thing, no matter new data.
Of course scientific theories have been wrong. Science bases its facts on the data available. If something new or contradicting shows up, theories are changed to describe that phenomenon properly.

Well if you want a real answer, some religions have beliefs that they're connected to other places/stars in our galaxy. How much do you know about the Mormon faith?
Well that's not true. Religion has adapted many times to new information and cultural pressures. For instance it was not long ago that the Catholic church rendered the statement that their view of extra terrestrial life had changed and that it wasn't impossible that life existed outside of Earth's.
