Who said anything about intelligent life? The church is not stupid. They know how to work around inconsistencies. If we were to find primitive life they would say "Yeah, we figured it was out there!" and if we were to find intelligent life they would find another means of justification for the Bible. Incorporating them into scripture, or "proving" that the scripture did not apply to them.
Why would god create intelligent life out there and decide that they are irrelevant?

I agree the 10 commandments are fine guidelines for life. If followed they would make this world a heaven on Earth. But why do we need a book to tell us things that should be ingrained in us from day one by everyone not by the pages of an ancient tale.
