Should they add a torture scene?

  • You do it in GTA 5 I could do it again if they put it in next season.

  • You are mixing interrogation and torture here. You can torture someone just for sake of causing pain, or to get information. Kenny shot his both kneecaps to inflict pain and used crowbar to brutally beat him. Knowing your fate can be counted as torture also, which Carver knew would be rather brutal and somewhat painful for a moment.

It was more of a gory murder than torture, he didn't want to get any information out of Carver, just shot him and bashed his face, it's a rather easy way to go compared to real torture.

  • Carver beating Kenny was basically torture... But yeah I guess they could put a torture scene just don't make it as brutal as GTA V ;_;

  • I loved dat scene.... :)

Reseirvour Dogs is a movie with Michael Madsen (Carver's VA) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9rIBE0KM-w

  • Hell, I would actually kind of like that....

As long as it is meaningful, and much like everyone else, not for the purpose of shock value.

  • hmmm could swear I've seen a topic like this pop up before season 2 was out. I wouldn't like it, but I can see Telltale handling a torture scene with maturity and in the right context.

  • hmmm.... i was thinking something along-st the line to fucking TWAU, but you went a lil far lol

Maybe they hold clem down and force her to watch them torture someone with fire.

You mean a torture scene likkkeeee.....Maggie? In the comics?

  • what was on outlast????

If the scene was like Glenn getting beat up by Merle in the show, that would go by quite easily, but if it was like an Outlast torture scene, that would be a no-go.

Wow, so many edgy kids in here. Protip: Torture doesn't actually work. It has lasting consequences beyond just hurting a lot. Forget Call of Duty and its moronic idea of interrogating people by putting glass in their mouth.

You know what'd really be clever and smart? Have a character be tortured and have them lie in order for the pain to stop. Because you know what? Torture doesn't actually derive the truth. It just hurts people. The torturer has no way of verifying what the victim says is correct, and they'd only be satisfied if they hear what they want.

So you want to be edgy? Have a torture victim lie and have the torturer suffer consequences for it. Because so far, I've seen way too much illogical examples of 'justified torture' and none which actually reflect how it happens in reality.

P.S. Carver tortured Carlos and Sarah. I don't give a shit about him beating Kenny - Carlos was tortured a lot more slowly and cruelly.

  • Carver did that to Carlos, traumatizing Sarah by proxy and forcing Clem to hear everything.

No I don't mean clem is being the torturer. She is being forced to watch her friend be tortured while they people who are doing it force clem to watch.

  • That was nothing compared to real torture

  • If you strap someone to a table and submitted them to rat torture, they would tell you whatever you wanted to hear.

  • Fingers being cut off.

  • I think it could work. Maybe they can do it like in GTA 5 where you get to decide which "instruments" to use on the person and torture him in various ways depending on how long you took to use that object on him. Example, when you select the giant wrench, it's obvious that Trevor will hit the dude with it right? Well it lets you decide when to hit him. If you hit him right away, he breaks his knee. If you wait a few seconds, he will do the "nutcracker" where he slams down the wrench on his dick/balls and that crunching noise of the bones is so good. Point is, I could definitely see it happening, but it really depends on who we play as. It wouldn't be as fun if we were the one getting tortured.

  • Yes! I'd love to see one! :D

I am not sure I would like to see Clem held down for any manner of cruel or unusual punishment given that it could possibly be directed at her with any chance to struggle against it subdued.

But torture is very real and possible in the civilized world, so it only follows that it be one of the dangers of meeting new people after the fall. And, over the course of a few years, very likely to be witnessed or dealt with by Clementine.

Did I say "punishment"? I meant "treatment" or some broader term.

  • It would be a good emphasis on how dangerous people are if you get on their bad side.

Or if they're just fucked in the head.

  • It sounds like the OP just wants to see a torture scene just for the fun of it. If it was a natural progression of the story, maybe, but I wouldnt want them to put in torture scenes just so we can get something new.

  • Okay, maybe not for fun but just because it's not something we've really seen before. Would that be fair to say?

  • I think a little slap to Sarah isn't a big deal.
By the end of Carlos's torture, a couple broken fingers and determinantly a bruised face. By the end of Kenny's beat down, blind in the left eye. I'd say Kenny got the worst with Alvin.

  • Didn't we kinda get that wih kenny?

  • I thought of this question entirely different.

What if your character is determinant throughout the season? What if you're the one being tortured, and if you continue to pick [...], the player is put through more agonizing quick-time events, such as in Metal Gear Solid (PS1), with the Ocelot Torture scene. If you fail, [...] no longer becomes an option, but if you keep succeeding, perhaps it ends with the player character dying, and the next episode continues through the footsteps of another, who would have ended up dying if the player didn't get through the torture scene.
