  • I really disagree with that. And its not even like its a full sixteen episodes. Its basically two mini seasons.

  • You can read the comics faster if you have all of them together, but pound for pound, the pacing on the comics is way worse. Sure, there's like three issues at a farm, but then 41 issues in a prison? And yeah they walk without purpose for quite some time. But that's only relative. You can read from leaving the prison to reaching the Alexandria Safe Zone in under a day, but that's 20 issues. At the rate of one per month, that's one point bar six years of content. I don't know how you perceive time, but to me half a season is shorter than just over a year and a half. Probably at a ratio of 1 to 3.

So with less frequent zombies, less of them, more downtime, and the same focus on romance drama crap, I'm going to have to say that the comic is empirically the narrative with the slower pacing.

The comics dont move that fast. As Master of Aeons pointed out, they have slow spots with no zombies and a lot of talking. I frankly got bored with the comic after awhile.

  • They dident advance it in anyway but they were intresting and fun to watch anyways the season 5 opener had some character progress on each character and had some great scenes overall this was a great season opener

  • Well, that's a matter of opinion for sure lol

  • Why s2 is that bad? Because of no action? If it is yes then we are in middle of 10 years boys !I hate the action.. I love the development of the characthers.

  • Cant say i disagree i like action once in awhile to keep things fresh but the development of the characters i enjoy too and funny and intresting moments that dont affect the story much are still humor added to the story that make it better too which over all makes this show a hybrid variety show of awesome which is why i love it man

jersery did, like walking dead for 5 seasons, not does it matters. or is it not obvious, you can not measure the value of an show by an episode's rating?

    look for yourself.

type in some bad shows and be surprised.

Both reality shows, not scripted programs. Do they beat their own ratings records every year?

  • I don't understand it either. I loved the games, but that doesn't mean that I have to automatically hate everything else.

I haven't read the comics, and have just started watching the show, because of the games. The show (so far) is a lot better than the game, IMO.

  • I love the comics, game, show all equal i see you like them both but have you read the comics there just as good as the show and game

  • I really like the show, it just has some parts that I hated. Overall I recommend it, especially after the mid season of season 4, and episode 1 of season 5. It's getting progressively better I think.

  • No, they don't. That's a misconception that drives me crazy.

season 2 is bad because THEY SPEND THE ENTIRE SEASON LOOKING FOR SOPHIA!!!

  • Video game: Stop killing off so many characters! It ruins the narrative, people die useless deaths and it ruins the plot.

TV show: Start killing off major characters! Too many people die that we don't care about and only death will satisfy us, and only death can make a good story.

  • Hahaha. They really do need to kill Daryl though.

  • Save Daryl for Negan - it'll make him seem like so much more of a threat than killing off Glenn.

Hahaha. They really do need to kill Daryl though.

  • Season 2 and 3, under a different show writer, really diverged the show from the comics. This was most notably shown in the forms of Dale, Sophia, and Andrea, since each of them had/has an important part in the comics. Dale was replaced by Hershel, and his death will probably be replaced Tyreese or Bob. Carol or (much more less likely, of course) Sasha will replace Andrea, assuming Kirkman wants that arc to remain in the show. Nobody can really replace Sophia as of right now.

What I like about the show is it still keeps people guessing, despite being based off of the comics. It was fairly obvious that they were the cannibals at the 4's finale, but as time went on, it was less and less obvious that they were, so it was still somewhat of a surprise for fans of the comic. They also changed Chris into Gareth, and it works since he's really only a minor villain anyways.

Gimple is the best thing to happen to that show - not only does he love the series, but he recovered from the train wreck of the past two seasons. Now they've hit the ground running, bringing back some fan favourites, and continuing on with the comics. They've set themselves up to replace characters from the comics that have been previously killed off. I just hope they give more meaning to Morgan's and Abraham's characters before their deaths, assuming they follow the comics closely from now on.

My main problem with the show right now is Daryl. I love his character, and the way he's grown is great, but he's reached the peak of his character. Bar Negan, there's no real reason to actually kill him off. He'll be shoved into badass mode and fade into obscurity. His time has come, and the time for his death has passed

  • Well, I think it's pretty damn acceptable for someone to get angry when they're insulted... And I haven't made any invalid points nor would I become frustrated if someone proved me wrong.

  • Only death can make a good story? How would killing everyone off make a good story? They kill characters off when it fits the story, like with Dale and Lori and Hershel. I dont want them killing off the characters I love wily nily only to have them be replaced by an all new group.

  • I agree that Scott Gimple has been the best show runner so far. I dont think the past two seasons were a train wreck. I think there's more we can explore with Daryl. Im really curious to see if they do decide to make him gay.

  • I think I'm the only person that dislikes Daryl.

So far, season 5 has been awesome. We will just see how it goes!

  • it's invalid how you say the show is a disaster when you didn't even watch season 4 or 3 maybe so don't talk. You have rights to say which ever season you saw is bad but have a good reason too or you'll look like another ignorant telltale fan.

  • Oh he's great. But his presence really kills the tone of "anyone can die." I don't feel any stakes when Daryl's around.

  • I suppose you did not detect my comments were made to represent what fans generally think en masse. Killing off characters is a very important narrative tool in TWD, how it is used, and what the repercussions of the death are is what drives the narrative forward. I was comparing the game and the show and how they chose to implement death into their series, the death of one character can have a profound effect, and the death of many can have no effect, it's about finding a balance between letting people live and killing others off, but maintaining a strong narrative throughout.

Personally though, I like the longevity of characters in the show, the characters you have known for the longest tend to be the ones you like the most since there is a shared experience between the viewer and the character because of the journey you have been through. Also by now a death like Lee's would seem like bad writing because it is hard to imagine the hardened survivors get surprised by and bitten by one walker.

  • There's a different show runner in charge now, one who understands that killing off a bunch of characters all the time doesn't make good writing. I have faith in Scott Gimple.

I'm going to start watching TWD again, I'm just hoping the rest of the T.V. series isn't as boring as S3 was.

I watched the show and read the comics before I played the game, so I enjoy all of them. I consider the show and comic to be separate entities, they both have their strengths and weaknesses tbh. I will admit season 3 of the show was kind of weak (excluding everything having to do with Merle, his arc was awesome. I loved how he went out on his own terms, but I think his character had a lot of potential which could have been utilized in later seasons.), but season 1,2 and 4 were amazingly written, and I'm pumped for season 5.

I don't dislike him at all, I just don't like that there really is no fear or trepidation that he can die. For me, that's what makes the audience care so much about a character, the thought that no one is safe, and to be hoping for their safety throughout the whole episode. As much as I enjoy Daryl's character, I never worry about him, because I sincerely doubt the writers will kill him knowing how big (and crazy with lust, let's be honest here) his fanbase is. Something about that fact dampens the authenticity of the show's plot and theme in a way. I wish the writers would make a statement saying that no one is safe, including Daryl, no matter how much they threaten to "riot".
