Nate as Clem and AJ's caretaker/ companion. Thoughts/

Don't you think he's a little misunderstood as seen with Russel he has somewhat of a good side in him. He's no worse an influence than Jane and they would be safe no doubt. Look how far Nate went just to get some extra supplies imagine what he would do for someone he cared about. Maybe having a family would make him see some good in the world. He could probably teach them a thing or two.

  • Please no... I mean, I wouldn't mind if he appears in S3, but not as Clem and A.J's caretaker. He would probably try to ditch A.J.

  • I would like to see Nate again but I am not 100% sure he would be a good caretaker...

  • Don't you think he's a little misunderstood as seen with Russel he has somewhat of a good side in him.

    Nope.

He's no worse an influence than Jane

I totally hate Jane, but I still disaggre.

and they would be safe no doubt.

Before or after Nate wants to kill AJ because the kid doesn´t shut up? Before or after Nate decides to have Clem rate walkers by throwing her into a herd or something?

. Look how far Nate went just to get some extra supplies

Nutcases like him tend to do that.

imagine what he would do for someone he cared about.

    Nothing.

Because he doesn´t care about anybody but himself.

Maybe having a family would make him see some good in the world.

    I doubt that.

He could probably teach them a thing or two.

    Totally.

Nate: "Hey, Clem, it´s rape time!"

Nate: "Hey, Clem, I totally can fap to this walker. In fact, I will do that now. If you don´t like it, don´t look."

Nate: "Hey, Clem, let´s kill these folks and take all their stuff."

Nate: "Hey, Clem, make sure to kill all old people you come across. Or let me do it. No, nevermind, just let me do it. Is more fun."

Nate: "Hey, Clem, listen to me because this is very important: don´t turn the other cheek. If somebody tries to steal your food, kill them. If somebody hits you, kill them. If somebody invades your personal space, kill them. If somebody spits at your general direction, kill them. If somebody looks at you wrong, kill them. If somebody looks at you, kill them. If somebody is not doing anything particulary offensive, kill them anyway.... wait, what was the point of this again?"

You just had to drag Jane into this didn't you?

  • Come on give him some credit Nate isn't that bad of a guy. He saved Russel from a herd of Walkers even after Russel insulted him. He trusted him with his one and only gun and even after Russ holds him at gunpoint he still saves his life.

  • Nah, my Clementine would have nothing to do with that murderous sociopath.

  • He saved Russel from a herd of Walkers even after Russel insulted him.

    So?

He trusted him with his one and only gun

    He had another one.

and even after Russ holds him at gunpoint he still saves his life.

    Where/how does that happen?

  • It's determinant, Russell can draw his gun on Nate (it won't fire), and then Nate angrily snatches it away from him. BUT, he will not cover you if you do this.

But ... you let Kenny kill Jane?

Back to the OP, I'd like Nate in season 3 but more triagonist than care giver, showing up for a bit though honestly Im not sure. That or an antagonist if the group pisses him off

Nate is unpredictable and would probably be an irresponsible caretaker and bad influence on both kids. I won't say Nate is a sociopath because he seems to have emotional attachments but regardless of if he bonds with them or not I still think he's too wild to take care of children.

I remember his interactions with Russell (Someone he seemed to consider a friend, who he puts in danger about two or three times, I think.) and that's enough to not want him around Clementine and AJ.

  • For that to have worked then Nate would have had to have been wearing a mask shot them, then even though hes crazy decides to leave go the opposite way then circles back round to find Russel who then drives with him so long that its at least been a few hours to the same point, then sits there waiting to be shot not knowing if Walt and Jean are still there.

I dont know its way more plausible its just someone else, I mean there were 5 groups of people at least around that gas station over a short time period. It could have been him but still

  • This might already be a theory but what about the Bandits. Its possible that some of the bandits could still be alive and several of them wore masks.

  • What's wrong with you guys? I've said it a couple times before, and I'll say it again: Nate isn't a bad guy, nor is he a rapist. I'll agree that killing those folks and taking their stuff was wrong, but that's beyond the point. I agree with you 100%, OP.

  • When did Nate, even impy that hed rape anybody. Plenty of guys talk to each other about women like that, honestly I'm not even sure he was serious about it

Well, first of all, I case you didn´t catch it, I was kind of joking. Second, I think he was only fucking with Russell, but he could have been serious. And yes, plenty of guys talk like that, the difference is that Nate is in the ZA and there is nothing to stop him for actually doing it.

Again... when was this a thing with him, he asked russel to rate a walker... thats it

I was just exaggerating for comedic effect, dude. I didn´t say that Nate literally faps to walkers.

In any case, you can´t honestly say that somebody who could do that is fit to act as a caretaker.

After they shot and tried to kill him you mean?

So what? Does that make it right? He should have understood that they didn´t mean it, that they were just scared and panicked, but Nate killed them anyway. That´s another thing. Killing them was unnecessary. He could have just taken the supplies. Is not like a pair of old people with bullet wounds are would be a threat to him.

Again they shot at them first, Nate didnt kill Russel when he met him

So? He didn´t kill Russell, but he mocked him and put him in danger. When he was about to kill them, he quoted Steve, the guy for Russell’s group.

But ... you let Kenny kill Jane?

And? You are one of these people that believe that killing somebody yourself is any better that letting somebody kill another person? I honestly didn´t want Jane to die. I wanted to fire a warning shot to stop Kenny, explain to him that AJ was alive and Jane was just fucking with him, and leave with Kenny and AJ out of the Rest Stop, leaving Jane behind. But there were only two options, and I took the best option in my opinion. There. That´s you needles explanation.

Now, back to the topic. Nate is fucking nuts, he kills easily and for no goddam reason at all. He is unfit to take care of himself, much less to take care of Clem and AJ.

You just made my day, sir. Nate is an awesome character and I totally enjoyed him in the game, but now with this thread being created... I realized that having him as Clem's caretaker was my inner dream all this time. He won't be as good as Lee though, but it would surely make a quite interesting and unusual story. I'm 100% with you on that, OP!

  • I found Nate pretty scary. I think Clem would try to escape when he wasn't looking.

  • I'm honestly shocked that some people want Nate as Clem's guardian... Really? He's batshit insane, seriously. There's no way of justifying what he did. My Lee would turn in his grave if Clementine ever became close to someone like him.

  • Let me clarify, I'm in no way saying there's an excuse for what Nate did, but it's just not fair that some people here act like he's a pure evil. He's not. I honestly don't think he will be a good influence on Clem and AJ either, but if he really gets attached to them, he will do anything to protect them in his own psycho way, I can guarantee that. Moreover, what if the kids at their part would actually be able to influence on Nate? It's a great opportunity for him to become a better man and redeem his doings in past. And like I said before, I'd love to see this put in the game, because such relationship would have a lot of potential for development imo.

  • Well in episode 1 if you refuse to forgive Nick, Clem can tell Luke her reason to not forgive Nick was because he is crazy and she tries to stay away from people like that. But in episode 2 Clementine can say that she is crazy, because she wants to attack the bigger zombie before going on the bridge with Luke (all detriment I know). So who the hell knows what Clem is... maybe she's crazy, but wants to stay away from other crazies like Nate.

He's too dangerous to be near Clem and AJ as far as I'm concerned. I mean. he shot a scared, defenceless old couple and showed absolutely no remorse. He even joked about it. That's my definition of pure evil.

  • as i said before in this thread here > http://www.telltalegames.com/community/discussion/84524/am-i-missing-something-here-with-kenny-and-clem/new

i think that S2 kenny cares about clementine and AJ , But whenever you disagree with him he will give you that look , the problem with kenny is that he is kinda selfish not in the way most people are but in his actions , he thinks that he is the only one doing the right think , the only one that has good ideas and plans and the only that does what is for the best of the group , this kinda of thing make the bonnie/mike/Arvo situation because when people don't agree with kenny he simply treats them like shit.
