How Would You Deal With Captured Bandits?

Okay so lets say you got in a bit of a heated moment with some bandits and ended up capturing them, you then get to choose their fate, how would you handle it? would you handle them differently based on what kind of people they were? for example would you choose a different fate for a bandit who was just a thief than one who was a rapist or murderer?

Personally, I'd likely kill them all for safety but if they were a thief I would just shoot them in the head but if they were a rapist I would probably pull a Rick Grimes and instead of using my gun, take out my knife and brutally slaughter them slowly. What about you guys?

I'd let them all go on one condition.

Rapists will have their privates cut off (If a woman then the dominant hand's fingers.)

Thieves will have their dominant hand cut off.

Murderers will be beaten until near death.

Alternatively. If the bandit is convincing, and persuade me, then maybe I'll give them a free pass. Maybe leave the injured people some meds so they don't die.

So they can either choose the corresponding option and be let go, or be shot in the head. That's what I would do.

keeping they around too long never ends well and letting them go is too much of a risk

  • Torture one while everyone of them watch then move on down the line till they are no more.

  • So would you leave the rapists/thieves alive? I don't think I'd be able, When I saw that greasy fuck trying to rape Carl I woulda done the same thing as Rick and just slaughtered him, even if I wanted to keep him alive I couldn't because I wouldn't be able to stop kicking his ass until he died

I'd let them all go on one condition. Rapists will have their privates cut off (If a woman then the dominant hand's fingers.) Thieves

  • I wouldnt kill them.
I mean if they were rapists or something like that mayebe. Would I take some of their food and ammo, maybe.

  • I would just shoot them in the head. I'm sure that would more than take care of my blood lust. Jewfreeus up there is right this is a Stephanie situation. You can't keep them here and you can't let them go.

  • I can't say for sure what I would do. I can tell you how I think I would handle it, but I'm less sure on this topic than I am on most. I was ask them questions. Many questions. For hours, and hours. Independently. I would then likely kill most/all of them. If they convinced me to do otherwise, then so be it.

Well, I'm one of the most moral people on the forum(Not to brag.) I at least want to find the nicest, and kindest way, or opinion possible, on anything. I defend pretty much any character(Usually bad ones such as Vernon, and Carver.)

Here I used this before and I will again. Not much people will agree with me but

For me killing is bad no matter what. No matter how necessary, I would try to avoid killing. The bandits are human like you and me, they're not monsters. We make mistakes, we... Stray from the path, but that doesn't mean we end it. Life is a precious thing, and taking it away from somebody is horrible. We don't know what lies beyond death, so we must cherish life as it lasts. No matter how bad a person is, killing isn't right.

I will always forgive people, because forgiveness is a good thing. I would hate not to be forgiven. We don't know the full story of what happened to people. They could be mentally challenged, a nutjob, something may have happened to him as a kid, a traumatizing event, or it's just the way they are. You can't change people from what they are, so you have to accept them.

If we kill bad people, we're no better then them. If we spare them we risk them coming back for us, or doing the same thing to other people, but morality would stand in my path. I know a lot of bad people, and I honestly hate a lot of people in real life. I hold grudges, and cling on to anger, but that doesn't mean that I would kill people. All humans make mistakes, and have done wrong in some way or the other, nobody is clean from doing something bad, or stupid. Nobody's perfect, and you can't take one's life because they are so imperfect.

I want people to find it in their hearts to forgive each other. Its the apocalypse and killing you're own only makes more of them out there, and less of you. Humans need to stand together to defeat the zombies, not against each other. This will never happen though. "It's the living you gotta worry about." And that's the truth. There's no stopping whatever the people will do in the game, as they are making the problem even worse.

Every human is good be it inside or out. People can commit sick deeds, but in the end they're still human. I know I've repeated this human thing, but what I'm trying to say is we are imperfect. I know many might judge me for saying what I did about people like Carver or the bandits, but there's no changing my mind. They're not monsters. Sure they're video game characters, but they're still a person in the game, not some animal.

You gotta consider them living people. They ain't a girl, they ain't a boy, they ain't smart or strong, they're alive.

Of course in my faith we are taught to forgive, so maybe that's why I feel this way. But I'm glad I do forgive people like the bandits and would let them live, because its what I feel would have been right. Thanks for reading.

Me: Are you guys assholes, in the sense that you will follow the trades of being assholes that involve killing me and my group and taking our stuff?

    Bandit: Uh, yeah?

  • Humanely kill them all regardless of their crimes, or release them if they're convincing enough. I like to think that's what I'd do, at least. If one of them injured or killed a family member or friend I'd probably go to town on them a little bit, but hopefully I'm better than that.

  • Depends on motives. If someone was stealing to feed their loved ones, i wouldn't do anything to them. If someone murdered someone to protect people, depends on the situation really. Rapists? yeah cut their privates off and leave them, i can't think of a way to justify rape :P

  • edited October 2014

I'd kill all the rapists and murderers (but Lee was a murderer depends on the person).I may kill the thief's but I might just abandon them in an empty field far away all alone.

But in reality I would die for sure.

  • Just curious, what choice did you do at the end of season 2? Just curious because of your anti-killing view.

Well, I'm one of the most moral people on the forum(Not to brag.) I at least want to find the nicest, and kindest way, or opinion possible,

  • Heh, that's the million dollar question isn't it? Either way you are technically killing someone. By shooting Kenny you are killing him, and letting him kill Jane, is being an accomplice to killing, therefore there is no right answer, even with my view. I don't really want to get to much into this but I'll try to respond the best I can.

I killed Kenny, and I paused the game for a while to think about it. In my perspective, it was choosing to save one person or the other, who killed who didn't matter, someone was going to die. I'm not a Kenny fan, and I'm not a Jane fan either. I still don't know if I made the right choice or not. I might seem a bit hypocritical by saying I killed Kenny after that post, but it's hard to explain.

Kenny was... Unstable. Most people could see that. It was the reason Bonnie, Arvo, and Mike ran away. There was no denying there was something wrong with Kenny. The guy lost his wife, child, and girlfriend, I don't blame the guy for being like that, but he seemed different from season one, I don't know what happened, but he was different, and I'm not sure if Carver had dealt any brain damage towards him. Don't get me wrong, Kenny is a good guy, but even Kenny himself in the game shows that he knows what he has done.

Being the stupid person I am, I believed AJ was actually dead, and I thought Kenny was blowing the whole thing out of proportion which he still was. My sister was also pressuring me to shoot him >.<. I think actions speak louder then words. Doing nothing is one of the most stupid options to choose. Silence, and inaction is a valid option but is it a good one? Not really. Why was there no shoot Jane option?

The Kenny endings were better in my opinion. And both felt like a happy ending, either way. There was less emotion then the end of season 1. There was emotion for Kenny, but it didn't feel right to me. It was like the apocalypse was over and everything was going to be okay. Clem and AJ get to either stay in a safe place, or get supplies and walk into the sunset.

I wish neither of them had died, and if I was in Clem's position, I would take more of an injuring instead of killing shot on Kenny. Kenny said I made the right choice, and some argue it was because he didn't want to make Clem feel bad, but in my view I think he kind of meant it. I think he would want to be with his family up there, I liked that ending for him. But damn I never really disliked a character, but Jane pushed the limit when she lied to me. I ended up alone, and sometimes I wish I forgave her, but in the moment, I follow my feelings over reason, and that's one of my flaws.

I hope I didn't sound too hypocritical, and that this post didn't ruin my original one. I tried to compile my thoughts the best I could, and it's kind of jumbled but yeah. Sorry, and stay cool guys! B]

I'd go all Goodfellas on them.

But of course if they were persuasive enough I'd probably let them be.

  • In the game, I personally; would allow a thief to go free.
Depending on exactly what he told me, I might even consider letting him stay in the group.

As far as a murderer, rapist, or pedophile, I'd kill them.
Those people are the sculpted, of the earth.
    Especially the latter two.

However, I would just shoot them in the head.
    I would not mutilate them.
I wouldn't commit such barbarity towards them.

That is the kind of treatment that Hitler dished out toward the Jews.
I was watching something about the Holocaust just now, and it discussed the sick things Hitler and the Nazis did.
The unspeakable horrors they unleashed against their fellow man, even children.
It was brutal, inhumane, and Satanic.
And it was all because the people in question, were of another race, another creed.

By stooping to such levels, whether in a videogame or in real life, people become no better than Hitler.
Cause those are the kind of things he did.
A decent man would not do that.

What we as people feeds our minds on, dictates how we think, act, and treat others.
If we feed our minds with hatred, violence, and brutality, it'll have an affect on our thinking, which will in turn, affect our hearts.
And what is in our hearts, who we are on the inside, will show in our speech and actions.

If we want to be decent people, we need to feed our minds on, good, decent, and positive things.
    Things are good and virtuous.
    That is the truth.

  • Take away their stuff and let them wander away. I dont care if they would die, but i wouldnt be the one doing it directly. And even if you despise them so much, why put them through agony, before they die, why not just shoot them in the head? How does causing pain to others satisfy you?

Sounds like what those Islamic fundamentalists do. You sure they're the best person to emulate?

Far as I'm concerned, if someone hasn't killed or hurt anyone I know then I'll let them go. If they have, they're dead. Why?

Because people hold grudges when you hurt them, and torturing them only creates more hatred. If you're going to be savage, have the decency to finish the job. Pragmatism trumps morality when it comes to dealing with someone who you can't negotiate with.

I'd let them all go on one condition. Rapists will have their privates cut off (If a woman then the dominant hand's fingers.) Thieves

  • So killing makes you literally as bad as the leader of a regime that killed over 6 million people. Don't tell that to Lee, who slaughters half a dozen people in Episode 3.

When it comes to survival, killing is a matter of pragmatism. That being said, I abhor how casually it's thrown around by people who, without any irony, froth at the mouth about wanting to kill a boy whom they robbed, or wanting to visit death upon Bonnie and Mike for abandoning Clem, or delighting in causing the painful death of a traumatized innocent girl.

There are irredeemable, powerful people like Carver. Killing him is necessary, and indeed giving him a taste of the pain he's visited upon others is just. That does not make it equally right to murder everyone who stands in your way.
