For Kenny, Clementine was saying that Kenny would know how to deliver a baby because he was there when Katjaa gave birth to Duck, not baby cows I believe.
TBH, I don't know if I can really scapegoat the writer himself. Nick Breckon ain't that much better.
But I do feel pissed about Sarita's… more mistreatment. About the rather disrespectful and superficial usage of the Civil War setting. About Sarah and Luke's characterization being sacrificed in order to prop up Jane 2.0. About Kenny being The Only Man who can help a pregnant woman (because he saw Katjaa delivering baby cows lol) because the little girl who literally spent a year with a pregnant woman didn't remember anything. And Arvo existing purely to get robbed.
To be honest I would've prefer the screen time to be spent on Sarah or Rebecca. I think it would've been a great opportunity to have explored the Carver/Rebecca/Alvin love triangle. I mean we're given bits and pieces of information but it's never explained properly. Rebecca acts so guilty about her baby possibly not being her husband's but given the power dynamics between her and Carver I'm assuming that he either raped her or coerced her into sleeping with him. In the beginning it's hinted that Rebecca cheated on her husband and it would've been a good twist to instead had Carver set up some sort of deal with her (such as if you sleep with me I'll give you more food or something) rather than just a case of infidelity but it's just dropped. Bonnie tells Clem that Carver wasn't always like this but he's just shown as a ruthless villain, nothing more. There's no hint of a stable person. I think instead of the ridiculous "you and I are the same" speech, Carver could vent to Clem and maybe shed some light on the cabin members themselves. It was set up in episode 1 that the Cabin members weren't exactly "good" people and that it was more of a gray/gray conflict but that's just demolished with Carver's introduction. Jane had very little lines in episode 3 and all of the sudden she's just thrown into the spotlight rather than Sarah. We find out about her sister but (no offense to any Jane fans) but I didn't really care too much and really disliked how it was an argument for leaving Sarah which doesn't really work because Sarah didn't imply to me that she was suicidal she just had panic attacks. If it were Nick instead of Sarah in the trailer it would've made more sense since Nick had depression and was implied to be suicidal but overall Amid The Ruins was horrible in my opinion
Well Jane had some nice development in this episode, that was one of the saving graces for the episode, her development is why this episode … moreis like 9th on my list of best episodes instead of 10th. It's definitely fun to play, but some of the choices were stupid and didn't matter. You can't have Nick Breckon write the entirety of a season, it would be great, but that's way too much work for him. Even Sean Vanaman didn't write all of Season 1. Just have Nick and Pierre write Season 3, that should be enough, maybe a third person. Season 1 only had 3 writers, Season 2 had 5 writers. Out of curiosity, when did Nick Breckon say that?
Of course I've played Amid the Ruins, that's why I started this discussion. I just feel that Long Road Ahead is overly long and too much time is spent trying to fix the train.
For Kenny, Clementine was saying that Kenny would know how to deliver a baby because he was there when Katjaa gave birth to Duck, not baby cows I believe.
I think that everything started going wrong the moment Kenny appeared. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Kenny myself, but bringing him back was not a good idea. The second he appeared the entire season concentrated on him. Kenny could have easily be replaced by the cabin group. For example, Carlos has some anger management issues, so in the end he could beat Carver to death and that would change Sarah somehow.
But, yeah, I think it is not Amid the Ruins, it's Amid the RUINED(Even though it had some epic moments).
Even with anger issues, it (to me at least) doesn't seem like that would be in Carlos' character. He knows that his daughter looks to him for protection, and that if he were to beat Carver to death, it would make Sarah terrified of him. Like if you kill Danny St. John at the dairy, Clementine becomes frightened of you and sort of cowers behind Lilly. If there was to be anybody, it would most likely be Rebecca, she hated Carver already for the whole baby issue, she's even angrier at him for killing Alvin (whether it was in AHD or IHW) and wanted him dead, that's why she stayed to watch Kenny kill him.
I think Amid the Ruins was still a good episode though. Definitely not the worst in the series. J. T Smith did a decent enough job despite not working at Telltale.
Exactly, let someone who actually works for Telltale games write the episode. Frankly, Eric Stirpe should have been the only one to write it, at least he works for Telltale.

Perhaps it could have, but I still enjoyed having Kenny back, he's my favorite character, not including Clem and Lee obviously. Better than having Lilly back, at least for me.
I hate to throw one writer under the bus when I view a game like this as a team effort, but I do hope that future projects avoid switching up writers in the middle of a season if it's just going to lead to inconsistencies.
Well, even Season 1 had multiple writers. Sean Vanaman wrote the majority (1,3,5) and 2 and 4 were written by others (Mark Darin and Gary Whitta). But you're right, you can't have the main guy (in this case, Nick Breckon) write the first two episodes and then have 3 people write the next two, he should have done it like Vanaman did and write 1,3, and 5 instead of 1,2, and 5.
I hate to throw one writer under the bus when I view a game like this as a team effort, but I do hope that future projects avoid switching up writers in the middle of a season if it's just going to lead to inconsistencies.
Lol Sorry, J.T Smith is a wrestler and it seems I got confused. And fair enough, though I rate pretty much all TWD episodes 8.0 besides like No Going Back(8.5), Long Road Ahead(9.0), and No Time Left(9.0)
Perhaps it could have, but I still enjoyed having Kenny back, he's my favorite character, not including Clem and Lee obviously. Better than having Lilly back, at least for me.
For all the shit episode 4 has got and still getting from this community, are you sure it was the writer's fault? All the complaints about the episode could have been due to content cuts. If you know anything about the gaming industry this happens all the time, because of time constraints and low funds. It's possible that J.T. Petty actually had more to the story, but some parts edited out leaving only to focus on the relevant bits of the story. But I guess since people have a name to blame for this episode it's easier to accuse this one dude for the entire episode faults, for those who found fault in it.
After coming to this forum, I've realized I'm in the minority here, but In Harms Way, severely underrated, one of the best episodes of TWD, my 4th overall favorite and 3rd favorite from Season 2. I get why people don't like it, but I enjoyed it. I thought it was a great episode and I hope Pierre Shorette writes more episodes in the future, he and Nick Breckon did a great job on No Going Back together.
for me, the reason i hated this episode the most is because it was up in your face that your choices didnt matter at all. thats where it lost me! atleast dont be obvious about it! like i invest my emotion with every thing i say and it didnt matter what i say or do! & they picked the wrong moments in the end- like ''holding the baby'' REALLY? that was a major choice to make?-_-
i hoped that by saving sarah the first time that i could help her, especially that it took me FOREVER to convince her to stay alive and fight for her dad!!! and i connected to her as a person, for her to lose everything infront of her eyes, its hard. i hoped that i can help her to be strong again and fight one more time and be like Lee to clem. sarah can be a complicated character and have some interesting story, by losing her father and being fragile about the Apocolypse. i saved her cause i believed that she can make it! and she died TWICE. i mean really??? she can be as complicated as kenny. she lost everything. she can become a) a crazy person. b) cold and quiet. c) survivalist in honour of her dad, etc.... the list goes on! she may even go with another family or something. dont just kill her and just make her an awful character and annoying. i am one of those few people that made her my friend since the first i met her! and if you do she is amazing! she is just scared. but she is a nice character! telltale i hope you dont just make an typical annoying character just for the fact of being annoying.
episode 4 Amid The Ruins is the worst episode in TWD. the ONLY episode i hated. and the only one that threw me off the whole series, got me thinking ''DOES MY CHOICES REALLY MATTER?'' and my answer was NO.
4/10. And the 4 is for playing as clementine only.
I said it earlier and I'll say it again, the fact that holding the baby was a major choice really bothered me. I could think of 3 other things that happened that were more important in the episode:
1. How did you get Kenny out of the tent: did you try to talk to him calmly (say something like "you help me all the time") or be honest with him (say something like, "don't be an asshole and pretend you're the only one who has lost people")
2. Who did you go with first: Did you go with Jane to the observation deck or with Mike and Bonnie to the museum.
3. Did you accept the nail file from Jane or not.
And I agree, the way they handled Sarah was so disappointing, to have her killed off twice in the same episode, it's like a giant middle finger to the audience. I know she's determinant, but at least let her have an impact. If you wanted a way to kill her off, either have her die in the shootout or have her take off with Mike, Arvo, and (determinant) Bonnie in the next episode. But still, I don't hate the episode, I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. It's like an 8.1, 8.2 at the highest for me and beats out Long Road Ahead for my least favorite episode of the series.

Well, it was a decent episode. It had some pretty good moments, like the museum, but its flaws overpower them.
Very true.
For Kenny, Clementine was saying that Kenny would know how to deliver a baby because he was there when Katjaa gave birth to Duck, not baby cows I believe.
Amid the Ruins was my 9th favorite episode. There was a lot of potential but it was squandered by lousy execution and sloppy writing.

All That Remains was the best.
of only season 2 right? tell me you are only talking about season 2?
i get its your opinion, but i do not believe that long road ahead is the worst episode. have you played amid the ruins?
Of course I've played Amid the Ruins, that's why I started this discussion. I just feel that Long Road Ahead is overly long and too much time is spent trying to fix the train.
Amid the Ruins is probably the worst episode, but it was still good. It was a solid 7.5/10 for me.
For me, maybe 8.1, 8.2 would be the highest I'd go.
Sure the implication is that he saw Katjaa give birth, but it's funnier to think that he had experience from watching her deliver baby animals. :P
I think that everything started going wrong the moment Kenny appeared. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Kenny myself, but bringing him back was not a good idea. I'm just saying that this season could have gone well even without Kenny.
*Petty, not Smith. I didn't say it was a bad episode, but it wasn't a great episode. 9th overall for me, maybe like an 8.1, 8.2 at the most.
Perhaps it could have, but I still enjoyed having Kenny back, he's my favorite character, not including Clem and Lee obviously. Better than having Lilly back, at least for me.
