I was discouraged, but I played S2.
One extended session (with lots of breaks). I used all my free time I had left, however it helped me to focus just on the game. Finished it today.
Note: If you remember me, you probably wonder why I played S2 with the taste of disappointment I've experienced after completing S1. The first and most important argument I have, is that I wanted to see the continuation, not because I was curious, because of the balanced reviews and different assessments I've came across to. It means the game isn't pigeonholing on a global scale, and indicates the existence of diversity of taste, making the game percieved in a variety of ways.
What I liked:
The Story; I found it more interesting than the first one.
Grey Characters; no obvious division in the perception of charaters, most of them were grey which means less "hand-holding" in decisions.
Multiple Endings; progressive attempt to overcome "the illusion of choice".
Plot Twists
400 Days Characters having a presence
Really well-written Jane, Bonnie and Bill Carver
Circumstances of Nick's death
Choice of final personality; different protagonist development.
What I didn't like:
"16 months later"; what was that, Spongebob?
Clementine being a protagonist; fully capable of performing the tasks she shouldn't be able to do.
Logic; general stupidity and plot-ish troubleshooting.
Kenny's return; He overshadowed the whole season.
Plot Charaters; Sarita, Arvo...
Clementine's immortality (with AJ here too)
Repetitive situations
Forced emotions; one or two situations that affected me emotionally; the rest is simply forced.
My point was to give you the same amount of good and bad examples, to reduce the number of comments calling me "biased". Hope it worked.

Some people said they wanted to see my opinion. Here it is:
Season 2 was good, but wasn't great. Game still isn't the masterpiece. I could've complained more, but I learned from my mistakes and I didn't. Did I see larger amount of realism (which is, for me, the most important part in all fictional creations)? Yes and no. Too many examples supporting both answers.
Did I like S2 more than S1? Yes, I think so. Yes.
Ask me whatever you want.
Comments
You're probably going to be murdered for liking season 2 more than season 1, but I too like it better than season 1 :P
EDIT: Fuck you guys lol I prefer to be burned alone.
I also prefer Season 2.
waits for someone to burn me alive
Finally, someone with a similar opinion as mine.
I prefer Season 2 too
So this is...four people waiting to get burned.
Any time now.
Burn me at the stake too.
That´s five people now. They´re gonna have a party.
How about I won't let you guys get burned without me.
I get the fire ready
We can always count on Stubbless Lee afterall.
But wait, we need some final words!
'Don't Be Afraid'
I'm fond it
To the loved ones we've lost along the way...
Words of encouragement!
We´ll see them again...someday.
By that I mean today.
I disagree with the story being better. S1 has the formula of a good story. A goal, which was Clementine's saftey then Savannah. Then finally we see the Villain who has been present from Ep2. One of those "oooh shit" moments. While S2 had none of that. Nothing lasting, just wander, wander then finally it turns out Kenny is actually the only lasting plot.
Always, Sheriff. Always.
Enough talk, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurn!
One more thing that I liked, credit songs.
I'll join.
Season 2 is the shaping of our Clementine, where we decide the goal, which is the point of Season 2 for Season 3.
I played S1 and S2 again, and got bored with S1. I like S2 more now. Looks like I'm next for the burning.
This game is not a make your own story or character game, it's a character focused game. What you're saying makes the game sound incredibly lazy.
I feel at a loss because I'm not getting the Spongebob reference...
As far as the multiple endings attempting to overcome the problem of the illusion of choice, for me, it just served to highlight it because nothing mattered except those last couple of moments and they seemed forced and rushed. If anything, the season 1 question of who goes with you to save Clem felt much more like a result of my actions because they weren't just based on a single choice. Ultimately in season 1 we arrived at the same end point but I also think that led to a more cohesive and stronger ending.
So I can see the problem they were trying to solve. But for me personally, they didn't succeed.
"The game is tailored by how you play"
It is, the way I understand this statement, we make our own story with our personal choices.
Spongebob always had these uneccessary timeskips on it's episodes.
You liked how the 400 Days characters had only a few seconds of screentime?
I kinda hoped for more than that when I bought 400 Days, but that's just me.
They did perfect making it realistic in the first 2 eps, but after that she started doing stuff like kicking in doors...
Ah okay. Thanks.
I can kick down a door.
I tried it, got yelled at for it.
I liked S1 more because it had more gameplay, better character depth etc and I loved the whole lee story arc that everything he did was to protect clem you always knew your goal and seen what you were striving to protect a story of redemption
Once your honest it doesn't matter what people say or think, what happened?
You did a great job of explaining your point of view and I completely understand your reasons
Clem kicked that door down like it was nothing!
...And why did you do that, Megami? xP
Who knows, now that Clem is the one in charge of looking after and protecting AJ, we could have another Lee and Clem situation from Season 1, but now Clem is the mentor and she has to protect AJ and teach him how to survive.
Might as well get burned with the sheriff! I like season 2 as well!
When you say the circumstances of Nick's death do you mean his death in episode 2 or 4? Because I really felt like his death was poorly done in episode 4.
Because science.
I agree with you about Sarita, she didn't have any development, she was there just to make Kenny suffer after her inevitable death.
But I think Arvo was written very good, he lose his sister and then gets mad at Clem (he probably didn't know she turned), so if the player wants to leave with Mike (and determinantly Bonnie) he can't because of Arvo.
Meh you have points. I really hope they change stuff up next time round I felt a limited amount of choices especially in the later episodes. I hope Telltale limits themselves to making one game at a time that way they can put way more work and effort in it. The only thing I disagree with you on is Kenny's return. It was needed with the exception of him, Clem and Carver (kinda), the character development in season 2 was overall just mediocre or just boring. The episodes focusing on Clem and Kenny are the better ones I noticed this when playing episode 4 where the whole time you were stuck with an undeveloped character and a lot less choices that in the end didn't change much.
You have good points, I agree with them. After replaying the series I've started growing on Season Two.
Good Thread.
