Which choices were well executed to you?

As you know, Telltale tries to aim their choices for a 50/50 split, but some of those choices take proper buildup to achieve. So I'll ask you, which one was well executed to you? Which one had you scratching your head or thinking that this was a great choice?

  • Kenny or Jane. Just look at what that divide did to the forums.

  • The Pete or Nick choice.

    The table scene in S2.

    There were tons in S1.

  • Steal from Arvo or not.

  • The people in the middle are the ones who hate them both.

  • XD I cheated on that and didn't choose.

  • Definitely Jane or Kenny. Others would have to be kill Lee/leave him, kill/leave Sam, steal from Arvo or not, kill either of the St. John brothers, and show/conceal your bite.

  • kenny: "Over here, Clem!"

    luke: -motions to Clementine-

    me: fuck.

  • Man rebecca looks really fat apart from the fact that she is pregnant.

  • This was really difficult but I went with Luke and then saw the sadness on kenneths face and was like aww for like 2 min. Lol

The table choice was great because it was so simple. For me, many of the choices in 400 Days were excellent. I find a good choice in the Walking Dead is one that I instantly regret. For example, as Shel, I chose to kill the guy because I thought Roman made a good case - it wasn't safe to let him go. Immediately I felt I had done wrong by choosing that and felt guilty. The dog choice was great too because it was a no-win scenario. There was no right option.

The good choices for me work in two ways. Firstly, they make me feel like those are the only choices - for example, if the dog might have been just fine but I wasn't given the option to try to help him, the choice wouldn't have worked for me. Secondly, a choice with no real right answer. That ambiguity even afterwards causes the choices to be very strong. Again the table example is great here. One way or another, you would let somebody down.

KvJ didn't work for me mainly because it felt like there were a whole bunch of choices we weren't offered that we should have been and then we were handed more info after the fact, info that would have massively changed the choice - none of those good choices like the table or the dog needed that. So I felt it was clumsy. But it may have been one of the only choices like that.

There were definitely a few that obviously had a right answer though and, often, those choices are fairly pointless. For example, I think they could have given us even more immediate motivation to leave Sarah in that cabin. Jane's reasoning wasn't enough - I don't think we should need to be talked into a choice. If it had been more immediately obvious that staying would have resulted in the death of someone else then and there, I think many of us would have left her.

Oh one other type of good choice that sometimes we don't give Telltale credit for because they are not obvious - those that offer significant differences. For example, I had no real idea that Alvin could die in ep2 and yet for me he played a really significant role in ep3. I didn't now on my first playthrough that Wyatt could stay in the car in 400 Days. So sometimes we don't feel the impact of our choices because we didn't know it could play out any other way.

  • Cutting off Sarita's arm-I think this was a great choice as they may have thrown in Reggie as a red herring for proof that amputation works. Then the vast majority of players decided to preform a risky move and amputate her in the middle of a herd. What happened? She died within the first minutes of the episode.

Carley or Doug-Great, this his how I hope Kenny/Jane is handled, have the same situations but have different characters.

Kenny/Jane-I won't start a forum war but I do think Telltale will up their game for Season 3 and have these guys stick around or never show up (Alone ending).

Giving out food-Such a simple task, such a difficult choice.

    • Kill Larry/Andy St. John

    • Kill foreign hostage? (400 days)

    • Food sharing

    • Cut Lee's arm off

    • Shoot Lee

    • Kenny or Luke's Table

These were done brilliantly, imo, because there's no right answer. It depends on your own moral standards, and how you want other character's relationship or the game changed.

Off-topic, but I don't think the Carley/Doug choice wasn't built-up very well as Carley has much more 'advantages' than Doug.

  • Sit with Luke = Kenny Will Remember That

Sit With Kenny = Nothing Happens for Luke

After Luke drowns Kenny talks about the dinner scene. But Luke wasnt around for it which can only mean they knew Luke wouldnt make it.

  • So, they had Luke's death planned from at least the second episode?

  • Sarita's arm was the best

  • But it never mattered.

  • That choice actually *****ed me off.

A lot of the choices irritated me because they didn't matter in the end.

I'd say the ending choice because, at least that mattered.

    But it never mattered.

  • The third, actually.

  • To kill Stephanie or leave with the RV. I think this was a greatly executed choice because it would test the consistency of the player's thoughts and convictions. Does knowing and living with Stephanie change your thoughts if you kill the intruder? Does the aftermath of allowing the intruder to live taint your opinion of Stephanie?

To help Lily save Larry or agree with Kenny to kill him?

  • Maybe it's me but I did not find the food sharing built-up much. If I remember only Lee and Mark talked about food.
