I do agree with you that beating him was wrong (even though he caused a lot of shit) but in no way was Luke's a mistake.
He told Clem he wa… mores going to make sure the place was safe, he HIMSELF made the choice to think about himself. It goes against everything he said about caring about the group. Im sorry but no matter how much you like Luke, but actions like that show you he cares only for himself, it's just lucky that none of the other members of the group got killed in the process.
I'm happy that this thread didn't get any heat from overzealous Kenny supporters. I really liked Kenny, I just was really curious to think about what would happen if he was the only who drowned (whether you go for him and he saves you, or if you cover for him, most likely without Bonnie barking orders at you).
I guess that Luke's wounds would be the #1 priority, and hopefully Arvo wouldn't of been as hostile to Clementine. I don't see a fight arising unless Mike supports Arvo in doing a real stupid situation, or maybe everything gets turned upside down if Arvo still decides to shoot Clementine if he ever does get his hands on a weapon, which would seem likely to happen eventually since the rest of the group felt bad for him, and would probably try to add him into the group.
It's been great reading all of your replies, truly a great read, some really awesome to think about, and some were funny as heck

Im not saying everyone is perfect, far from it. Im saying that he had a job to do and he chose himself over what was important, and that was getting rebecca and the rest of the group to safety. I mean, Kenny can bash Arvo to a pulp and most people won't forgive him for it, so why should people forgive Luke when he chose sex over the safety of people he "cares for"? Yes it was a mistake, a mistake that never should've happened.
Did Luke make a mistake? Sure. But saying Luke only cares for himself is a bit much. Everyone in TWD has made mistakes before. Some more than others, but still. He had a moment of weakness and fucked up. Happens to the best of us.
Oh come on, If that happened for example then that proves Luke is weak minded like most men are these days. Clouded judgement is the difference between survivng and not, in Lukes case, he wouldn't go very far with that mindset.
Jane is manipulative...For all we know her "offer" was her putting her hand in his pants.
He made a mistake, he cares for the group, just had clouded judgment for a while.
Yes he does, but doesn't rage about how the world is fucked up and he wanted it? If you're in a group then it's best for the group, not just your own self.

First, thats sexist. Second you seem like a strong Luke hater. Third, you judge Luke over one mistake anyone would take, do you have any other bad things to judge him for?

1:Im a guy myself and 2: It's not sexist, it's true. Men are more likely to give in to sexual temptation then women are, this is a proven fact.
Not a hater, just don't think his as how do i say "innocent and nice" as people make him out to be.
"Anyone would take" I didn't see Lee pick his fling with Carley over the group or let it distract him from say guarding the motel. Didn't see Kenny lusting over Katjaa, in fact he was trying his hardest to keep the group safe.
Other things? Well, there's the time he took off at the end of episode 2 and didn;'t even give us a reason why.
He screwed up the plan with the walkies because he quote "tried to find food" or some excuse about he had no sleep, now who's fault was that? Taking off after Carver and his group took over at the lodge.

Women are really lustful but we are getting off topic with this point.
You don't know what happened in those 3 months. :P
Kenny told Luke to leave him alone so Luke went off to take a breather. He returns to the lodge to find Johnny, Walter, Alvin (determinant), and Nick (determinant) dead. He's like oh shit and goes after the group for days without rest.
Luke was hungry and tired, yeah that's his fault but he didn't do it on purpose.

Yes we are getting a bit off the rails but it's true about how men are more prone to giving in then women
If something serious happened in that 3 months, we'd know wouldn't we? lol
But doesn't Kenny or someone say "Where is Luke"? That doesn't mean he can just take off and leave the group, unless Kenny's the leader now?
Hungry and Tired yes but it's his fault for taking off, had he not, he wouldn't of been like that.
At the end of the day it was Lukes own choice to take off, same with sleeping with Jane, he could've said " I have more important things to do like making sure the place is safe for the group and a almost in labour woman, but like i mentioned, Luke is a weak minded male who will give in to self pleasure over helping others. And i am not singling him out, millions of men have done it, that's why the say "men have a dick in their head in stead of a brain" Because thats how most of them think.

lol, if something bad happened to the group that resulted in Kenny and Katjaa having sex, would seem weird that telltale wouldn't put it in. We all how fans reacted when They skipped 18 months ahead at the start of Season 2 and no mention of what happened to Christas baby.
I said doesn't Kenny or someone say where's Luke? I swear Kenny says it. I know someone does, or is it Clementine? I'll have to reply the episode.
Every character could've died. And he decided to take off for no reason and he didn't even explain himself why he did or where he did.
Takes 2 to tango. Regardless if Jane is manipulative, Luke had a choose, and he chose yes to her. Weak Minded.
* Not between Kenny and Katjaa. XD
* When does he say that? Kenny was probably being a dick so Luke decided to get away from him till a fig… moreht starts.
* He didn't just take off, he came back. Plus if he had been captured Luke might have died.
* Luke didn't just take off and Jane's manipulative and she probably distracted him.
Hey we don't know, maybe Kenny and Katjaa like to have grieving sex. I don't think it affect the group but I think they did it.
I think I know what you're talking about...Outside the lodge? Yeah that's Clem and Kenny says in a very aggressive tone "Hell if I know, he kept chatting so I told him to take a hike."
They were kind of busy, you think Luke knew the lodge was under attack right then? Once he realized it he followed Carver to get them back. If he truly didn't give a shit then he would've just said "Well, I can finally escape Carver, I'm out."
Who knows what happened but Luke made a mistake, he admitted it, no one died because of it except Sarah (Determinant) and that was truly her fault.

Haha perhaps but would seem strange that them doing it and something happening was keep untold.
That's it, regardless of what Kenny said, Luke didn't have to take off, he could've "kept quiet".
I didn't say he didn't give a shit i said he decided to take off and didn't even explain himself. But it was his own doing getting lack of food and no sleep, it was HIS choice to take off.
No one's blaming him for Sarah's death. And his stupidity in trying to find food and getting caught resulted in Kenny trying to take the fall and getting the shit knocked out of him and depending on your choice, Clementine getting hit with the gun or Sarita.

He didn't have to take off though, if he explained himself, i'd give him the benefit of the doubt, but the fact that he didn't even explain himself annoys me.
Wasnt Kenny more focused on Carver and the group? Pretty Sure Kenny wouldn't of started a fight in a situation like that.
True, but why was he starving? Because he decided to take off. Had he not, he wouldn't of been starving.
* All I can imagine now is...Ugh...
* We don't know what Luke was going on about, probably the lights, which is very important and shouldn'… moret just be kept quiet about.
* In that situation it's either stay with Kenny and argue (knowing his temper) or take a quick walk. He did the right thing.
* Luke was starving, it's not his fault people need food to live.
Well the car wouldn't be able to function as Kenny wouldn't have been able to fix it by then. Unless Arvo, Mike, Bonnie, Luke or Jane have s… moreome kind of hidden experience with cars, they would just walk, so it could be possible to run into the family, especially if they hole up in Howe's for a bit.
Interestingly, it was Jane who was supposed to drown in the lake, but that was changed later. Some fans figured it out from the data in the files.
Dear Telltale
Why you do this?
Is this because Luke not have boobies? Is it because you like boobies and wanted more boobies in story? Could Lukey not stick scrunched up newspaper under sweater and be lady? Why you not do this? Why you not give the man paper boobies?
Everyone was focused on getting out, you really think Luke had to explain himself for taking a break.
It's quite obvious Clem was torn between leaving with Luke and staying with Kenny. Plus Carver hadn't even shown up at this point yet so no...Kenny wasn't busy to start a fight. If anything Luke was probably bringing up Carver and Kenny told him to shut up.
Why was he starving? He decided to walk for five days after realizing the group had been taken and he wanted to rescue them. If he had stayed then the situation to get out would have been worse and Carver might have killed Luke since he started the first escape.
* Could be worse, picture Brenda St John (-;
* He didn't have to take off though, if he explained himself, i'd give him the benefit of the … moredoubt, but the fact that he didn't even explain himself annoys me.

Well, there definitely would be less conflict between the group members without Kenny there. I'm sure the group would have still argued on where to go and what to do next, but it wouldn't have gotten to that extreme point the way it did with Kenny, and ultimately, they all would have stayed together. The only wild card would have been Arvo, but without Kenny there to push him to his limits, it's hard to say what he would have done.
But storywise, it would have been bad for Kenny to die that early in the episode since he was the main source of conflict. The group would have to encounter another form of conflict and tension for the episode to be satisfying, and it was too late to introduce something new.
Honestly, no one should have drowned at all (especially Luke) because walking across that frozen lake was too forced and contrived and stupid. There should have been a choice to find a way to walk around it.
Im talking about in general, not at the time when he sneaks into carvers base. Not one does he explain his actions.
Still, he doesn't have to take off just because someone tells him to. Lily told Lee to quote "get the fuck away" after Larry died (if you choose to help kill him) yet Lee didn't take off.
No i didn't mean it as a question, more as in he was starving because of his own doing. And Carver could've killed anyone at anytime just look at Reggie for example.
* That's Larry's thing. :P

He doesn't need to explain, they're justified, most of the time.
Where was Lee to go in that situation? If they weren't trapped he probably would've.
He was starving because he cared about the group and wanted to save them. Yes, Carver's fucking nuts but Luke would be a prime target on Carver's list.
* So much for loving Terry then (-;

He had clouded judgement and made a mistake, it was his moment of weakness. He even apologizes for it and realized that he screwed up.
If Kenny drowned instead of Luke people would be pissed off even more.
Cried tears of joy because that means Luke would be alive.
I mean, I'd be a little sad for Kenny because he's been around since season one but I'd take this over what really happened.
Liiiiiive you two! YOU HAVE TO LIIIIIIIIVE!
I'm happy that this thread didn't get any heat from overzealous Kenny supporters. Luke and Kenny are my heart and soul, but I think everything would have turned out better if Kenny had died instead of Luke. Super-hella better if Arvo had died instead.
A friend of mine actually made this vid to show how that would look like:
Byebye Kenneth
The non-sensible ones probably got bored of bandwagoning and so left.
Let's face it - the group wouldn't fall apart, but Telltale would still kill almost everyone and make the group go through some really bad stuff.
That was before the ice...
Edit: Just saw what it was about, my bad
Clem would've been killed by Arvo an Jane would've joined Arvo Mike and Bonnie
And maybe Luke and Jane will die(getting shot by Arvo and/or Mike) for not wanting to break the group up
But knowing Jane she will desert Clem in a heartbeat
Im not saying everyone is perfect, far from it. Im saying that he had a job to do and he chose himself over what was important, and that was getting rebecca and the rest of the group to safety. I was just asking a question, that was all.

(?) You and 99.9% of players chose to save Luke.
Interestingly, it was Jane who was supposed to drown in the lake, but that was changed later. Some fans figured it out from the data in the files.
If they didn't have a car and went back to Howes, they would have walked. They probably did find the family, and let them join the group.

I heard about this too a while back, kinda makes me wonder what would have happened if jane did drown, then how would things have turned out?
Where did you hear this from? Gavin Hammon said a little while back that Luke's death was in early versions of the script he received.
