My Idea For Season Three (Clementine, Protagonists, Events, etc.)

edited October 2014 in The Walking Dead

I honestly don't mind whether Clementine is the protagonist or not, but I would love to see a new protagonist with a different story who then happens to meet Clementine after the events of Season Two. If you think about it, it makes sense.

The first parts of Episode One for Season Three could explain the new protagonist, their story, the people they met and lost. Then it cuts to them surviving alone after the events of Season Two. Depending on what ending you have for Season Two of The Walking Dead, depends on how you meet Clementine, how she treats you and she would later go over who she lost (Jane, Kenny, etc.)

So with that in mind, what ideas do we have for a new protagonist if this were the case? In my person opinion, my idea for a protagonist is someone from Ben's school. His name was Ryan and he wanted to become a doctor in the future, and already studied medicine in his freetime. They were friends with Ben but were separated after Ben's camp was attacked by bandits. They struggled to survive but eventually met Lilly (either with or without the RV). Ryan was then in a group together until they another group. He survived a good while but the group lost members and eventually a leader, with the group on edge - Lilly stepped up to the leadership role. Months later, the group encountered Christa (after the events of All That Remains) who was going north to Wellington.

As Ryan and the others headed north the odds were stacked against them, a place called Howes was being attacked nearby (or so they heard) and a horde of zombies attacked, leading the group in a dis array. Ryan kept moving forward and surviving in the woods until he meets a girl called Clementine (who just survived a bandit attack either resulting in the loss of Kenny or Jane - She gets wounded out of all the scenarios).

Alone: Clementine explains she was with the baby when she got caught in the cross-fire between these two groups who were attacking each other.

With Kenny, Left Wellington: Clementine explains, a bandit group tried to rob them for their supplies they got from Wellington. Kenny took a bullet for Clementine, and Clementine fled.

In Wellington: Clementine explains that she was on scavenging duty and was looking for supplies, until the group was attacked after finding a lot of water and baby formula. Clementine fled, with AJ still being back in Wellington.
**
With Jane, With Family**: Clementine explains that her and Jane took a family in but they were part of a bandit group who were scouting the place out. They betrayed Clementine and Jane, Jane ended up dead and Clementine fled with AJ.

With Jane, Without Family: Clementine explains that her and Jane didn't take a family in and they were part of a bandit group. They attacked Howes before they got away and Clementine fled, with Janes fate unknown.

Season Three would explore the theme of friendship between two people who were never really meant to be friends. An eleven (or twelve) year old girl and a sixteen year old boy. Both are succumbed and orphaned by the apocalypse, both with bad experiences and both dealing with their own issues. Somewhat similar to Lee, Ryan would play caretaker to Clementine as she has to go back into her role of Season One (which she now dislikes) and less of an active role to ensure the safety of them both. However with disagreements and the bitter world around them, they will encounter different people, different scenarios and different choices that can either strengthen or break their bond as they are truly now the only people who can understand one another.

With Ryan being a slightly cowardly yet intelligent medical-obsessed teenager who simply wants to help others but can't on the goal for survival and Clementine being a hardened yet smart survivalist who want stop the death of others, but knows she cannot save everyone.

Can the two survive together and form a friendship that can get them through their horrific lives, or will the two end up alone, possibly even dead?

The goal of the Season would be simply to survive, (somewhat similar to episodes Starved For Help, A House Divided, A New Day, etc.) however people, groups, bandits, walkers, the past and their choices would come into play.

What do you think of my idea? I'd love to hear what you guys have to say. :D

Good but I just don't like Kenny/Jane being killed so early, and I'm not sure if the kid needed to go to Bens school, plus meeting up with Lilly AND christa.

  • Lilly and Christa won't be in the season that much. They're only there during the first episode and get split up halfway through and only act there to connect the stories. I only chose the person to be from Bens school so this person could be friends with Ben and share a similar cowardly nature.

  • I first read the first part of your post. It wasn't my exact idea of a great season, but it didn't sound bad.

I then skipped to the near end of your post. "The goal of the Season would be simply to survive,"

No thank you. I'm done with the shattered dreams, no goals situations like S2.

  • Eh well I can agree with you there, but I felt that Seasons One objective was to survive, but mainly find Clementines parents. That undertone was still there, no matter what the player did plus Kenny had his idea to get a boat from Episode One.

Season Two clearly established a goal of getting to Wellington, and it was less to do with survival (in my opinion) as every episode had a clear goal from start to finish.

With Season Three. There is no goal. There's no boat. Train. Car. Group. Camp. Or person that can get the protagonist or Clementine out of this situation. It's simply new situations that crop up each time. Whether it be bandit groups, cross-fire, cannibals, or all sorts.

    uh

But isn't that the point of the apocalypse? To survive? It's not really a goal, more of a necessity. It just comes with some obstacles on the way.

It isn't about a boat, or a train, or a car, or huge civilisation up North, it's simply surviving. What people seem to be doing on a daily basis.

  • Both seasons are about surviving. Real life is about surviving. It's about what happens throughout your time surviving. If you're looking for a story about just surviving perhaps we should make a game about simply surviving as one of Kony's child sex slaves. But no one wants that story. We need goals, tasks, accomplishments, hopes, etc. Simply surviving is boring to say the least. S2 falters at this task in that it has one set goal which is never recognized until the very end of the season, and even then the payoff is lackluster. "You made it to Wellington! Everyone is dead!" There are hardly any cathartic moments (like seriously, fucking extremely rare) until then end. It's just drudge on, drudge on, drudge on, drudge on, drudge on, drudge on, Wellington wall. It wasn't even fucking climactic... the only thing of interest was Kenny's speech. Clementine's guardian goodbye speech rehash anyone? And this one was forced down my throat like the sock down Zaheer's throat.

  • No no no. I didn't make myself clear. I want this Season to be like Season One. In which Clementine, and Ryan (protagonist) survive in one place/area for every episode but situations come up, such as new people, new groups, new communities even that can be dangerous, or hopeful. Survival is not an undertone, it is the main focus. It's not going to Wellington or finding a boat, there is no other objective to distract the characters.

Each situation grows in intensity and danger until the final episode in which all things head to a climax.
